Fucking hell, Roeder is getting some blame for Owen now as well is he?
-
This is one of the most important players we need imo. If we sign Baines, Ben Haim, Barton and Viduka then we got in a right back we would maybe have a team who would be one of the top 8 in the Premiership, but the playmaker is the key. If we can get a good one in then that would be possibly one of the most important players in getting us up to the next step. Someone with a brain who can unlock a defence with a single pass and can score goals. I don't know how much our budget is, but lets say for arguments sake we spend £11m on Baines and Barton. If we had a ridiculous amount of money like the £40m quoted in some parts of the press, i would go as far as to pay anywhere between £10-£15m for the playmaker, i think it is that essential.
-
Well I don't think (I stand to be corrected) that Baines hasn't asked to leave plus just the way the market is think we'll have to pay more than 5million. Not yet he hasn't. We aren't even out of May yet.
-
we could get 5million for dyer alone Dunno about that. Maybe £3.5m-4m. People will look at his injury record and that knocks his price down even if he has been fit lately. A few million for Dyer is great money though. Gets an injury prone, overrated, massive earner of the wage bill.
-
Why do you think Baines will cost more than £5m? I'd pay £5-7m for his anyway. When Chimbonda wanted to leave they were going on about how there is no way they would sell him for anything less than a ridiculous price. All we need is Baines to say he wants to leave and we would be able to get him for around that price. Might take a few weeks, but once Wigan give up hope they will have to sell.

Oliver is being quiet because his master isn't fit enough to give him any storys at the minute. -
Would be excellent business. Still a few more i'd really like to see go though. Carr, Dyer and Luque mainly. Get £5-6m in for them 3 and let the rest of the rebuilding begin.

Scott Parker signs for West Ham - £6.5m (+£500k) fee confirmed

Dyer must go now. How long is it gonna take people to realize what a waster he is? I'm not saying sell the whole squad. Personally i would rather we kept Parker, and got rid of Dyer and Emre and replaced them with two attacking midfielders who can score goals and create things. If you look at the top teams they all have midfielders who score goals. We rely so heavily on our strikers because we don't have midfielders who can score goals. When Bobby was manager we had Solano, Robert and Speed all scoring. We will get absolutely nowhere if we have to rely on our strikers all of the time. -

We need some midfielders with end product in. Emre hasn't got an end product, neither has Dyer. Sell them both. -

Joey Barton career league stats: 02/03 - 7 apps - 1 goal - 0 assists 03/04 - 28 apps - 1 goal - 2 assists 04/05 - 31 apps - 1 goal - 4 assists 05/06 - 31 apps - 7 goals (1 pen) - 4 assists 06/07 - 33 apps - 6 goals - (1 pen) 4 assists I think people are seriously overrating him. Parker got 3 goals this season. Barton only got 3 more and he played more games. I am not arguing to keep Parker here, i'm saying Barton is vastly overrated. -

I've seen Man City fans slag Barton of in the same way some of you lot slag Parker of as well. -
On a slightly different note, what the hell has Emre got to offer? Nice player to watch on the eye, but absolutely no end product

"I have it on good authority that Freddy Shepherd will reject any forthcoming offer from Mike Ashley for his 29.8% stake in the club. Indeed, you would have a right to feel sorry for the Newcastle chairman who while all this was done behind his back, was actually in hospital ill with pneumonia with Terry McDermott by his bedside trying his best to keep his spirits up, while his wife is still seriously ill, and his grandchildren are suffering from an eating disorder. Shepherd might not have the best rapport with the clubs fans, but they know he is a geordie, and wants whats best for the club. There is abslolutely no chance of the chairman accepting this offer, and it wouldn't surprise me if he upped his stake in the club now. Meanwhile the latest word on the grapevine is that Sam Allardyce will be trying his best to bring in Brett Emerton. Talks are going so well i expect him to be a Newcastle player by the weekend at the latest. Reports that Termuti Ketsbaia once played for Newcastle are wide of the mark"
-
I was thinking about that one as well. I remember him making a brilliant sliding tackle in the box early on. It was the first time i could remember seeing such a cool head on a Newcastle defender. Shame we couldn't have brought him back really, i bet Allardyce's training methods would keep him in best shape possible.
-
The competition between Babsy and Baines would be an interesting situation. There will be no competition. Babayaro is sooooo gone. Should Baines get injured, who do we have for back-up? I don't think Allardyce will fancy Babayaro one bit. I think he might also look to bring in an older experienced left back on the cheap, or maybe a cheap one from a league or two down at a decent age.
-
Aye, unfortunately we never seen much more of that sort of performance until 2 years later.
-
Great shout. Definitely the best goalkeeper debut i've seen for us. Wasn't Harpers debut against the Smogs? Could be wrong, but he had a blinder that neet.
-
Whats the best performance you've ever seen by a toon player on their debuts? I'll have a think for mine.
-
Because Bale is overhyped because of the age he has broke through and a few free kicks. Baines is older and he didn't make an impact at such an early age.

-
Everyone needs to calm down here. Clarkie is obviously staying, but i thought that would happen anyway. Absolutely nothing to back up that line about Terry Mac and Pearson though.
-
Sir Bobby could have saved us a fortune a few years ago
-
Best thing for all concerned imo. He's come in and surprised us all with a few goals and always given 100%. The fans appreciate his efforts and he can now go and find another club. This is another bit of encouraging news. Thats Pav, Bramble, Moore, Gooch, Bernard and Sibierski out of the door.
