  1. I think the real annoyance is that the obvious foul in no way disadvantaged the attacking player.
  2. If yesterday was in any way indicative of Forster and not just a blip then it's astonishing how both he and Krul have regressed over the last few years.
  3. Listened to an interview with him on BBC Newcastle pre-match yesterday where he talked about a lot of things. Most interesting part, for me, was when he explained the roles and responsibilities of those involved with the first team management. Not surprising, but it really is a very structured approach with his team all having specific responsibilities, leaving nothing to chance and all reporting into him. Bearing in mind there is a similar model operating below that at U23 and junior levels and he seems to have everything at his finger tips. Although Rafa is undoubtedly the "gaffer" in every sense of the word he couldn't have have sounded more like a "director of football" if he'd wanted to. He really is an excellent person to have in charge.
  4. No, there's no Sunderland to write off this season so it's 3 places to worry about in what looks like a very competitive lower half of the league. If Palace really are the worst team in the league then it's a pretty strong league.
  5. That goal was quite exceptional in the way Gabbiadini worked the opening from a nothing position. Elliot looks slow going down but most times the forward doesn't get the shot in and if he does 9 times out of 10 it goes far post, which was the way his body was set. It really was a very clever goal.
  6. Thought he was excellent. Strong and accomplished, a quality defender. Going to dismiss the penalty incident as just one of those things which happen. Would have been great if he'd redeemed himself with the header as he met it and directed it excellently.
  7. Really good news. I was a bit concerned that we might get gazumped as he began to be noticed more and more and his performance level remained so consistently good. Speaks reasonable English as well, for a young lad who hasn't played here previously. Would imagine Rafa being delighted at this getting sorted early.
  8. Neil MacDonald maybe? Anyway good luck Stevie!
  9. When comparing the two instances, and what goes against us, could be argued that we have arguably been more obstructive (than Spurs). Spurs owned up to what they did, Charnley and Co chose to mislead the FA (deleted emails, Penfold's dishonest actions have been noted). If guilty i don't the expect the club to receive any leniency, re: the precedent you have highlighted, because Charnley and Co have obstructed (even the failed appeal doesn't look good) & led the authorities on a wild goose chase from the get go. What a load of bollocks. As usual What factual evidence has come to light or is in the public domain, to date, which could in any way substantiate those statements you have made ?
  10. Was there an "announcement" of both the sale price and the signing of an NDA? I thought it was just a press story rather than something concrete. Really significant if there has been.
  11. Huntington's is a very tragic illness so I hope this is not true. Sufferers are meant to become quite erratic as one of the first symptoms and then ultimately the club would effectively owned by someone else via power of attorney Safeguards would be needed on that one! Good to see your usual considered and sympathetic approach to things James, but we may just be getting slightly ahead of ourselves here :-)
  12. Theoretically 28 billion. But. Thinks of her as your financial adviser or pension guy if you have one. Her job is to make your money grow. Her investors won't give a flying f*** about NUFC and probably haven't even heard of us. The one certainty is that if she invests money from the fund she manages into a football club, she is duty bound to take more money out of it than she put in. Would you want your pension fund manager sanctioning 60 million of funds to buy Kyle Walker or 35 million to buy Jordan Pickford ? Unlikely. She helped broker the deal for the group who have done exactly that? The greatest ever example of ruining your own point, right there. Well done Benwell Lad. You probably need to read what I wrote a little more carefully. She brokered the deal for Man City on behalf of a mega wealthy individuals who have almost bottomless pockets and no one to answer to. If she buys into a football club on behalf of her managed fund, then they are only in it for growth and unlikely to want much more than a sensible annual return. Two completely different scenarios. Surely you can understand that ? Ahh apologies, you were just throwing some random scenarios into the mix? Well then yeah, if we're bought by someone who isn't wanting to invest money then yeah, they won't invest money. Thanks for clearing that up. Fuck me, I give up
  13. What's Gazza up to at the moment.....
  14. I've heard, pretty credibly, that Newcastle weren't so concerned about the investigation itself but the extremely heavy handed, almost SWAT like, manner in which it was carried out.
  15. No one really knows, although journalists are paid to pretend they do She may be interested on behalf of a mega wealthy individual (Yippee) or in investing some of the funds she manages (Urgh), or maybe she was just watching a team she likes, in a football stadium not far from where she comes from
  16. Wasn't Newcastle's case that they thought HMRC had been particularly heavy handed in their approach to this, which anecdotal stuff I've heard would certainly bear out, and not really to do with the enquiry itself which is a bit flimsy anyway ?

  20. I read on here that she's a MLF anarl...
  21. Is this a "careful what you wish for" ? It really might be. While to date this has been little more than the regular "journalists feed off social media, journalists write vague story, story sends social media into frenzy" type cycle, analyse what little facts there are. She is a wealth fund manager, not a buyer in her own right. Wealth fund managers are paid to grow funds through various forms of investment. They will only invest in a PL club if they see a way of returning growth. If anything were to happen in this case it's more likely a conservative acquisition of a share of the business, rather than a full takeover, and not some sugar daddy looking to bank roll a load of signings to chase success on the playing field. However, if she is acting directly on behalf of a rich friend, rather than the fund she manages, a very different outcome could be possible.
  22. Basically no one has a clue. Yet due to pressure from their editors they keep churning out meaningless shite about us It's almost like it's still August.
  23. Thought he still played well, but perhaps just an element of him not being sure if he has to pull the strings from midfield when Shelvey is alongside him, impacted on his game. They are two very talented players and when they get comfortably used to playing together could be a great CM pairing.
  24. Dominated the game yesterday without really creating anything. There may be fault lines running through that squad and set up.
  25. Can't help thinking that there is just something fundamentally wrong with this Liverpool set up that is going to need a lot of correcting. Two years of Klopp and huge investment and they're still nowhere near where they want to be. You just can't go on dominating games and lamenting why you don't get the results you deserve. Eventually you must concede that something's not right. Their best player (by some distance) doesn't want to be at the club and when he leaves they could end up being little more than better than average. Though the fee could be reinvested of course, see how Everton have readjusted to selling their star man and reinvesting that money to date. Liverpool may potentially have bigger problems than anyone at the club seems to be willing to admit to at present.
