  1. Never any certainties with young players but there are a lot of things in this kid's make up which indicate he could be a big star.
  2. Deserved IMO. I'd heard from a decent source that a couple of Premier League clubs were interested in Dummet so he may well have acted on that. Although many criticise him and prefer to highlight his limitations, within the game he's looked upon as a reliable defender and a good pro. No world beater but there's been a lot worse in the PL.
  3. It used to be - no idea why they stopped doing it! It mainly seems to be taxis anyway - surely if anyone knows when and how to avoid it, it's them.
  4. The back of the Gallowgate should have been closed to traffic for a short period post match years ago to prevent the farcical scenes that occur every game.
  5. Even by the standards of some of football's most bi-polar fans the appointment of a lower league plodder has had a strange affect on their optimism levels in the last few days.
  6. Lascelles has room for improvement and I think he will. Time is still on his side and captaining a team who won the Championship is a decent starting point.
  7. Steady on Ian, William Wilberforce ensured that we merely employ him
  8. Not always. There are often legitimate reasons for nonfulfillment on contractual obligations that negate the opposing parties ability to claim damages. Mistake, frustration etc. Sure I really meant breaking it just for the sake of breaking it. Lawyers must love it when modern day football contracts break down
  9. They're all excited about Simon Grayson after the Aberdeen manager turned them down Bless. #Burst out laughing.
  10. Surely anyone breaking a contract could be sued for compensation by the other parties involved unless otherwise stated ? In this case, if such a thing does exist, it's most likely to be the buy out/compensation clause which are quite common in football contracts nowadays.
  11. One of the great recent disappointments. Based on what some people in the Netherlands told me when we signed him I thought we'd bought someone who could be a top PL player and then it just didn't happen ??
  12. Nothing is guaranteed when a player goes into a new league, but if this guy was a pivotal player in the quite amazing season that Eibar had then a fee of 10M euros in today's market looks like a very good piece of business.
  13. That old woman who made a crusade out of trying to get the "mag" journalist fired because of something he'd said years previously, and then went on national TV saying that Moyes' remarks about the female journalist should be forgotten because he'd apologised takes a bit of beating on the bitterness stakes like Chip on her shoulder like a mountain about all things Newcastle Was that, that Janey woman? She's a special case her Aye. Very bitter and twisted about Newcastle and went totally apoplectic when the local rag hired a "mag"
  14. THREE separate Rafa threads totalling 87 pages on the first page of RTG right now. Bloody hell man We barely have a passing interest in him compared to them

  16. So because of the comical way this financial basket case of a club have behaved over the last month or so, they have now put Grayson and his team in a very strong bargaining position to get the longest and best paid contracts possible ? They're almost unbelievable
  17. Who's it going to be when Grayson turns them down ?
  18. I've never understood how when they once had a local lad Colin Todd play for them, who was one of the best and most cultured defenders north east football has ever seen, that their club legends are two third rate cloggers Kevin Ball and Charlie Hurley Perhaps it says everything you need to know about them ? The local lad they missed that was better than Todd was of course Kevin Beattie. Wasn't he from Carlisle ? Beattie was a good player but nowhere near as good as Todd imo.
  19. Hmmm..... Löw, Klopp and Tuchel ruled themselves out then ? Thought they might have fancied it.

  21. Have you seen the state of their squad ? Unless these new owners (if it happens) throw a ton of money at them, a better bet is for them to go down again. Look at how badly Villa struggled last year with a way superior squad and a real manager ! It just isn't going to happen. The current ownership have thrown a ton of misplaced money at it and that's a fundemental part of why they're in their current predicament. Their next ten years will be a lot more austere than the last ten.
  22. There will never be much visible activity in June. International and U21 tournaments etc and most other players and management holidaying before things settle down and get serious in July. Unless your prepared to go straight in with "blow the opposition out of the water" bids then a lot of agents are going to advise their clients to hang on and see what happens. They know the game is awash with money and they will all be trying to squeeze a bit more out of a deal. I don't think there is any lack of resolve to seriously strengthen the squad at NUFC, (what is the point of getting promoted and hiring a world class manager otherwise? ) but as with all other clubs at our level it's going to be a tricky time as agents' brinkmanship will be more evident than ever.
  23. Could be wrong but reading between the lines the German thing smacks of pension fund investment rather than genuine football people. After all if it were the latter why would they be investing in Sunderland? There will of course be a management front, but if it is the case there'll not be much extra investment to get excited about.
  24. Although their demise and current calamitous state were many years in the making they have taken the last 12 months particularly badly. Even their normally high level of bitterness is increasing daily and could reach insane levels before long.
  25. So these wealthy alleged supporters have done the "big club" cliche and the "our fans" nonsense then basically said "fuck off we wouldn't touch it with a barge pole".
