  1. Excellent read Really ? While not many would disagree with it, there's nothing new and it just reads like the same old bunch of cliches and regurgitated stuff that's been said a thousand times before. Anyone could have written it.
  2. No. It's quite clear that despite the consensus Elliot has been generally excellent so far this season, if we'd had someone else in goal our goals against would currently be zero
  3. Showing both the Arsenal and Everton games before us. Aye, just looking at the KO times. Sure they used to just do them at 12, 2 and 4 on the occasions there were 3 on a Sunday. It's because of the golf at Close House which Sky are not only broadcasting but sponsoring. The organisers weren't happy with the match and final holes of the golf clashing so the tee times on Sunday have also been brought forward.
  4. While it's nigh on impossible to feel sorry for a club which has been ran the way they have for the last few years, I can't help but sympathise with the few hardy souls who trekked to Ipswich and back last night to watch a performance as bad as that. They had to watch that fraud of a footballer Lee Cattermole, someone who despite earning millions a year looks like he has the fitness levels of a Northern League player. He turns out for them occasionally and today he will be enjoying his real passion, swanning around a golf course secure in the knowledge that he has several more years of earning more in a week than most of those who traveled to Ipswich do in a year.
  5. Freddie would have taken us along an interesting road to oblivion imo. However he was a man who obviously loved his football club, city and region and brought investment and jobs to Tyneside.
  6. I meant when comparing two equal offences. Obviously a more serious offence should mean a longer ban.
  7. Arguably the strongest sanction a team can face is having a player sent off early in a game, probably more so than a three game ban given after a player has played the full game. They still field eleven players during the ban. Perhaps they should consider something like one game less ban if a sending off occurs in the first half, as opposed to a ban given retrospectively.
  8. Great post from their latest (currently 308 pages) Rafa thread. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/rafa-hes-still-not-happy.1386526/page-307#post-26262679
  9. Those who visit RTG may have noticed recent posts by a rather savvy accountant who posts under the name Grumpy Old Man. He is currently looking at the accounts and business "philosophies" of a cross section of clubs who are in, or were recently in, the Championship, covering Birmingham,Blackburn and Derby thus far. It makes fascinating reading and shows how precarious the situation has become for some of our clubs.
  10. We have better players and no team is harder working or more organised than us under Rafa. Although anything can happen in football and CH will have his team similarly prepared we should get a result here.
  11. Would once have thought, south coast, Brighton, Sunday afternoon, Sky TV, this is a certain defeat. But this is a different Newcastle without the soft centre.
  12. Just seen the Champo league table and burst out laughing. Burton Albion > Sunderland.
  13. Brilliant save. Ended up winning us the 3 points.
  14. Mackems aren't bothered about attendances any more because apparently it's not important and only something that Mags are obsessed with. That is unless they're arguing with Middlesbrough, or any other smaller club's fans, in which case attendances become very important again and are well worthy of discussion.
  15. I'd guess Bet 365, a huge global operation which makes a lot out of football and is prepared to reinvest back into the game, principally through Stoke City. There can't be any other reason for their enduring strong situation.
  16. Ah man, I'm about to go into a proper formal meeting situation and have read this whilst waiting. Gonna burst out laughing now. That really is a top post. The American shrink bit is brilliant
  17. Great read - that Keith fella has to be up near the top of the Bitter League! Aye, but Janey is the Celtic of their Bitter League and will have it wrapped up by Christmas If one line resonates today, it has to be this one written in irony by someone who could see what was coming:- "Still we can laugh at them though - they did after all sign Murphy" - rentaghost, Nov 13, 2016
  18. The link to the Darryl Murphy threads above made interesting reading, seeing how things have turned out in hindsight. This post, more than any other, contrasts the deluded Mag obsessed type Keith S30S, blinded to his own club's dire situation by his Mag obsession and Rentaghost who could see exactly what was going on and wasn't blinded by hatred for his local rivals. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/daryl-murphy.1296416/page-4#post-24258872"]Daryl Murphy[/url]
  19. Would love Dazza to get a couple. Didn't they laugh when we signed him ? How quickly things can change in football !
  20. In reality that caveat no longer exists. All PL teams are so strong nowadays you can't read anything into a name say "it was only Watford /Burnley/ Bournemouth" or anyone else.
  21. It's become a bit of an NO thing. Players are either shite and we'll never get rid or they're good and it will be an honour to see them move on to a big club like Burnley or Watford
  22. Our pressing the ball and energy levels are on a scale they haven't been at before. Even the good teams won't look forward to playing us this time round.
