So they were doing mock funerals decades ago and also stabbed a police horse long before punching them became fashionable
-
Did their magnificent "our fans" #bestintheworldmarra boo them off yesterday or did they stay with them to the end ?
-
Robert was just one of those lovable loonies we get playing for us from time to time. Amazing player though with game changing qualities.
-
They really are a curiously misguided and delusional set of supporters. One thing is the constant self congratulatory "our fans" thing. Like all clubs they have a few who follow them home and away through thick and thin but the reality is that 20 odd thousand "our fans" have deserted them as soon as the going got tough. Can't recall that happening so quickly anywhere else. Then there's the current crop of takeover rumours. So many of them in misguided naivety seem to think that their appalling, possibly terminal, financial situation will just evaporate overnight when some MLF or other orchestrates a miraculous buy out. They're a strange bunch.
-
His moments of class and overall contribution to the team far outweigh the infuriating moments he is also capable of.
-
It's right like. His free kick strikes on goal are so out of keeping with his generally superb ball striking.
-
There's none of our remaining games that I'd not hope to get something out of, with the possible exception of Spurs. We've already played the six games I wouldn't expect to get anything out of and we even managed to get 4 points from them!
-
Don't the "superior" rugby types look down their noses even more at rugby league than they do at football ?
-
Only some dimwit mackems. Apart from that nobody.
-
Changing the day of the game in this manner is nothing short of scandalous. Wish supporters could unite in some way and make a stand against what Sky is doing to them. Whatever they may say in their PR slavver and adverts, they really don't give a shit about the average football fan.

Newcastle United vs Huddersfield Town - 31/03/18 @ 15:00 - No TV
Benwell Lad replied to 54's topic in Football
Would have quite liked to see Huddersfield survive, UNTIL they did what they did with their academy. Acadamies require a huge financial outlay for most clubs and it is an easy, soft option just to do away with them and then pick up the rejects from other club's. All clubs, especially those on the PL gravy train, should be obliged to put resources into youth development and academies which become an integral part of the local community, as is the case with Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough. -
Just when you may have started to have a little sympathy for the desperate plight that their club has got itself into - this comes along  Would be carnage aal ower the internet marra FTM !
-
Weren't they within a few seconds of losing six in a row to Boro but never mentioned it ?
-
It's become another one of those strange mackem things in the last few years. If it appears that they may finally be doing better than their neighbours they start lording it and dishing it out big time. When reality kicks in and they realise they will always be second best the problem becomes a north-east thing
-
Aye it is, but it's two teams now. You'd probably have a better chance of catching one side 7 points ahead ?? Just can't see them getting 6 more points than Birmingham from now until the end.
-
I don't think there will be many real mackem/Wearside accents heard in SJP. However the accent once south of Durham down through Ferryhill, Spennymoor etc and through to Darlo could be mistaken for it, but there has always been a lot of loyal Newcastle fans from those areas. North and North West Durham have always been core, predominantly Newcastle supporting areas, long, long before the mackems invented this 1992 stuff.
-
?Aye. Seems that the magnificent "our fans" are justified in deserting their club because they've had it so bad for so long. But wasn't it just about a year and a half ago they were walking in a Fat Sam wonderland and looking forward to dominating north east football for the rest of time? They're a fickle bunch. Always have been.
-
Making football affordable is indeed a good thing if done for the right reasons. Make no mistake there is nothing noble about these price reductions it's simply desperation from a club who's fans have deserted them big time and they know a whole lot more will be jumping ship soon. In fact is it even morally questionable to be pricing entry at a level which competes with struggling local non league clubs ?
-
Basically they're fucked whichever way they turn. Years of reckless spending have left them so vulnerable that even the panic measures they're now implementing are way too late. Living way above your means always gets you eventually. It's left to the narcissist twins Coleman and Bain to make brave noises, but they know as well as anyone that the dross on the pitch is currently the least of their worries.

Martin Dúbravka (now playing for Burnley)
Benwell Lad replied to Figures 1-0 Football's topic in Football
On the basis of the, admittedly, limited amount I've seen of Jordan the rave and this guy since he arrived, he looks the more assured of the two. Seriously 26M difference in price -
Saw a photo of Camp Lee in one of the local rags. Nee way is that a professional footballer man
-
Looks like a very good defender who reads the game well, is comfortable on the ball and good in pressure situations. Shouldn't really be a surprise as he was also excellent in La Liga. That horrible tackle and injury in the first game certainly set him back but he now looks back to his best.
-
It's a shame that it's those occasions when he is easily brushed off the ball that stick in the minds of many people because he really is a very clever and talented footballer who always contributes something in a game.

Newcastle United 3-0 Southampton - 10/03/18 - post match euphoria from p14
Benwell Lad replied to Disco's topic in Football
Class. What makes us almost unique as a city. -
My post was really about the TF link Paully posted earlier. I should have said that and it may have made a bit more sense I don't see a love-in and I don't see much relevance in the fact we've had different economies. The point is, singing about unemployment, poverty and deprivation based on area - and when we come from the poorest region of the country! - is fucking embarrassing.
