Well that rules it our for starters. Like Ashley cares enough to a) know who is being approached or b) care enough to tell anyone c) have friends to tell.

Yeah went to watch Derby on the 20th against Norwich. Have family there. He is highly thought of here and is the team he had built. Game was absolutely rancid though. Derby looked full of cloggers, scared to attack and out of ideas other than giving it to Ibe. Who was pretty slow and clueless himself. Played it back to the keeper at every opportunity and refused to close down. Told it was an off day. Even Will Hughes was nothing to write home about when he came on. Looked alot like us under Pardew tbh but at a lower level. Just one game though.

If it's true Spalletti, Pereira and rijkaard should be getting a call.
-
Already better than Carver. But oh god no...
-
If Tuchel is not interested now when he is unemployed, I would be surprised if we persue him for later.Sounds like a polite thanks but no thanks..looking for a better club in that article. Not to say any part of it is remotely true.
-
Tbh if we could actually get De Boer in the summer or someone of his standard, I would be pretty happy with Sherwood and Sir Les in the meantime.
-
Carver comparing Pardew to Sir Bobby and Keegan now and making plays for the job full time. One thing is certain, I would rather have JFK back than Carver in charge.
-
Why? Is there a British coach that will fit into our set up? What I would say is that talk of De Boer or even McLaren are probably unlikely as they have a name and would consider themselves to have some pull with press being on his side or at boardroom level or clout in any major decisions. - someone with experience working in a set up like ours - good working with youth ie happy to work with what we have with signings as a last resort. - relatively unknown with something to prove. With full subservience to the overlords. - cheapish to hire. have to go abroad really to get someone that will definately be happy in our set up and used to it. Otherwise we will be in the same situation in a couple of years
-
Doesn't rule out Schtevie..though. don't think he would fit but we could do worse.
-
Exactly. We have a very good crop of younger players at the club. Whomever comes in will surely be expected to work with them primarily with minimal money to bring in players as a last resort. We have a wealth of potentially great younger players. And a few more that Pardew has ruined that could be somewhat salvageable like Sammy, Ferguson, vukic and Campbell. Could someone get obertans head together? Get Cisse back onside? Bench Gouffran and make good use of him as a sub? Use Anita and get his career back on track? So many questions.. optimism is so high.. even if it's briefly!

Heard the opposite. Flamboyant and likes setting up free flowing attacking teams. Really? Guess I'm misinformed then. You might be right, I'm only basing that on what I have read in several places. http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/05/09/why-christophe-galtier-would-be-perfect-for-newcastle-united/ http://www.ligue1.com/ligue1/article/the-galtier-method.htm Read somewhere else about him being quite Flamboyant in comparison to some of the other more reserve coaches in ligue 1.

No one fancy Luciano Spalletti? Transition from Italy and Russia to premier League might be hazardous.

If it's not a foreign guy coming in we are in trouble. McLaren won't work in our system. Being the only decision maker and guy in charge was the first thing he said he loved about managing derby. Id be surprised if he doesnt probably fancy the job but he would be another square peg forced into a round hole. Talented or not it won't work long term in our set up. Bruce would have been the same but less talented. So happy he ruled himself out. We will find the same with any domestic manager if they haven't worked under a system like ours and thrived. There are plenty that will agree to the job but it's only going to cause friction further down the line. Carvers hand looks ever stronger. Id say we wouldn't be that stupid.

Problem with that is having to play both willo and fist pumps.

I'm still in denial that this is real. Also still bricking it until he is unveiled at Palace. It is so mental. Feel like I have been held captive for four years and then I've woken up and my captors have simply left, given me a bag of money and released me.

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2014/12/niang-is-happy-to-remain-at-ac-milan-states-agent/ No intention of leaving and bigger clubs await him if he does.
-
If we really want Galtier/de boer and vice versa but they can't come until the end of the season then I am almost 100% sure we will appoint someone else that isn't Carver til seasons end. Downside is that could well be JFK back.
-
He would be a world better than Carver.. Almost as bad as Pardew coming back. Upside he wouldn't last long.
-
That's a fucking mess of an article.. Carver a fan favourite and has never managed before?

@CaulkinTheTimes Just my reading of it, but I'd imagine that would rule out a few usual suspects. The search is on - and not confined to the UK. @DamianSpellman @CaulkinTheTimes Hearing exactly the same. Aye, that doesn't sound too bad at all. I guess it also rules out some names at the other end of the spectrum. I doubt the likes of Frank de Boer and Thomas Tuchel, men with growing reputations who need to make their next move count if they want to move up in the world of football management, would consider coming here to be 'head coach'. Head coach is essentially what De Boer is at Ajax though isn't it? If it's what they already do coming here is not going to be a problem. Just important we get someone who has that experience working in our type of system. We aren't changing it and that is absolutely fine.. Everyone here is used to it and happy with it. We just don't want another square peg in a round hole, or someone who wants the job just agreeing to it because they want it. Signs are good, I think we are going abroad. Let's hope we don't end up with another nasty surprise.

Carr is surely as respected as anyone at the club given his background and 8 year contract. While he was here for 8 months before Pardew was appointed I doubt he was fully consulted. Hopefully over time he has become more trusted to Ashley. Pretty sure he will be directly involved in the manager hunt and process. I can't see our system being changed and as such a foreign coach seems the most natural fit. Ashley won't want to gamble with another British manager that won't work within his structure. It's also a chance to save some face, which is much needed. It's a statement of intent either way. If it's a horrific appointment he is obviously on the way out.
-
Would say this practically rules him out. Although like De Boers agent, saying he wouldn't leave Ajax mid season doesn't mean he wouldn't if an offer actually came in. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26399905

Aye, but he played 5 strikers at the same time. Classic. I'm far from sold on Mclaren. Think we would be in a similar position in a year or certainly two. Best bet if we have to go English though.

From Nigel Worthington probably.
