    Loïc Remy

Isn't he cup tied in Europe anyway? or have UEFA relaxed the laws? Champions league is great and all but not if he can't play in it.
  2. At the beginning of last week it was expected that we would press on and push talks for Remy after the weekend. So hopefully some news tmrw either way.
  3. Thauvin would surely be a reserve squad signing to follow Mbabu, who .com seem to believe we are close to signing. Remy is the one out of the three I would want, surprised Gouffran is still uncapped by France though. Badly need one of them in this week either way.

    Loïc Remy

Doesn't remy prefer a move to London? Be devastated if he went to QPR over us tbh. But obviously not the type of character we need if he picks the money. Think he could be holding out for Spurs and it will be between the both of us, if they are still interested.
  5. If we are signing a midfielder it has to be a box to box player like sissokho. We don't need any more defensive or deep lying midfielders.

    Alan Pardew

Ive got to say regardless of which manager we have had over the past years, I have always found positivity and trusted them to come through the other side of trouble when it arose. I'm not saying Pardew won't pull a Moyes who was in exactly the same position with a much worse team in his second full season at Everton, however it is really tough to read Micks post and argue with any of it. Pardew can't even get the simple things done, like motivating the players and picking the right starting line up or tactics. It is not the case that many of our players are useless, its the case that they are disorganized and made to play without the creativity the can play with. Pardew talked a lot about how he understood the type of football that was craved here and how it was the same type of free flowing attacking football he was known for. There has been zero evidence of that in two and a half years. Lots of good things have happened one way or another during that time but little has convinced me that Pardew has the ability to take us where we would like to be. It is a moot point as I believe Pardew will still be here in May whether he goes down with this ship or not. The hierarchy are obsessed with consistency and more so with taking a gamble that will profit them. Next to no chance they will pick a foreign coach even if Pardew did leave.
  7. Dont believe that for a second. Thought he was on the verge of moving to villa? Think he would be a good bet for us until the end of the season. Interesting article about us and QPR going for remy. Interesting only as they mention he plethora of decent strikers that could be interested alternatives. http://www.express.co.uk/football/view/368917 Gaimero another to add to that?
  8. The same Leon Best, Danny Guthrie, and Wayne Routledge who all requested to leave to get first team football? They wouldn't have stayed here as just squad players regardless of attempts to persuade them. They should have been better replaced though. Too much reliance on younger players stepping up which was a gamble too far. Not an unknown fact that the squad wasn't big or good enough as Pardew has been talking about it for the past two months. Unknown as to whether fat man will do anything about it to rectify the summer failings.

    Loïc Remy

On top of the fact QPR said the move was a no go and he wasn't interested in joining them. That is an old twitchy special tactic though.
  10. Change is Impossible - must set up defensive, keep central midfielders deep and then pull a goal out of our arses to pick up points.

    Conor Newton

Looked nervous but did well. Nice cross towards the end. Think jdckelly is spot on though. Good chance to check up on arguably our only natural LB. I said arguably.
  12. Almost the whole youth underbelly should be going out.. Abeid, Ameobi, Campbell, Tavernier and Dummett, from that list only the latter two or three should be retained for squad depth imo. I don't think its a huge deal, just put a recall option in all of the loans. While he lacks a few of Ameobi's tricks and skills Ferguson is much better all round imo, he retains possession much better and uses his brain more effectively. He feels more like an established squad member to me (even though he isn't yet) like Bigi. Amalfitano could certainly use a loan too if we aren't going to give him any time to play.
  13. Incredibly harsh. This thread is like a bloody yo-yo. He has a great amount of skill as he has shown in glimpses. He just makes a lot of wrong decisions fueled by his natural naivety. Needs to learn his craft in league one or the championship, like many of our other fringe/youth players. Reserve football is no place to develop and a large part of why we havent seen as many youth players prosper as they should have done. That's the thing though he shows flashes of ability on the ball which - as we've seen before - gets mistaken for caged potential. It would take a monumental effort for him to reach even Obertan's level. It is a waste of time keeping him here until that is tested though. He won't be fairly judged until he is playing for someone else. But to be fair to your argument in the starts he has been given he should have shown more and taken his chances. He did look great in one European game but its another flash in comparison to his forgettable performances. Ferguson should be ahead of him every time. Travesty he wasn't starting today by the way. Ferguson didn't do too well in his last start either. (Although, I agree he should be given more game time.) I don't particularly want Ameobi to start games, but he'd be useful come-on late to give us something different. I don't think that really does him or us great favors though when he could get playing time elsewhere and a better chance to improve in a safer environment. Ideally we will get at least Remy or a similar striker in that will give him the chance to leave, although you are right in the fact we should at least wait until the end of the window to see where we stand before letting him go.
  14. Blasted? Hardly. It was simply a disagreement. It's easy to come-in now and jump on a player's back after a poor performance, but I noticed that you failed to reply to my post after I gave a few examples to why Ameobi needs to stay here. (for the time being anyway.) It was easy to jump in then too, because he isn't good enough for us right now and keeping him here is hurting him more than helping him. Ferguson, Gutierrez, Obertan, Marveaux, Ben Arfa are all better options and ahead of him and if we sign another striker he will be further down the list. This isn't the environment for him to be sitting and waiting for 1 game in 5 for him to play some minutes in, just as 1 good game in 5 isn't a good enough argument to keep him here. It isn't doing him any favors with the fans either given the current situation. He should be out on loan and playing weekly away from the current mess.

  17. Said and was blasted for it a couple of days ago but will say it again. Needs to be loaned out and put as far away from Shola as possible before his inevitable potential is lost and his transformation is complete. I even saw the Shola grin today when Sammy easily surrendered possession in the 80th minute!

    Alan Pardew

What is most annoying about the Pardew situation is the fact that 99% of the Newcastle- nline board can identify problems and solutions with/to the team months before our coaching staff will consider addressing them. - Refusal to play Obertan on the left when it is clearly his most effective position, likewise Sammy Ameobi on the Right. - Zero creativity through the center and even when our most creative central mids play we sit so deep and invite pressure and never threaten through the middle. - Refusal to drop or even rest Gutierrez - Refusal to drop Simpson - Shola ffs shola.. for 10 years (cant blame Pardew for all of those) - Williamson set pieces and general long ball play Lastly can we debunk this actual Pardew myth whilst it is still floating around. - Credit for easing Ben Arfa, Marveaux and to a lesser extent Santon into the team -----> in actual fact point blank refused to play them even though every fan was crying out for them and the side lacked creativity, then surprisingly when he was forced to play them from an injury crisis, they both played consistently well and rejuvenated the side. Someone said it best earlier, I wouldn't mind so much if we just had some honesty from Pardew and the club staff after games or acceptance of blame. Instead we get fed the same crap we have been watching on the field and a bunch of excuses. I am undecided about sacking him..like everyone else we have no clue which random crappy british former manager Ashley would pull out of a hat to take over. I am sure Everton fans thought the exact same thing with Moyes at the exactly the same time in his Everton career when they finished 17th (after 7th the season before). On the flipside I don't know that I have faith in Pardew to turn things around, spirit seems to broken in many players. We need more than a couple of new faces this window, 3/4 minimum to give everyone a lift. I 95% expect us to sweat it out for the next month before any possibly decisions would be made.
  19. Desperately need at least one in before next weekend now.
  20. Feel very bad for the guy. good bloke, becoming a more horrible defender with each game. Way out of his depth. Why perch was taken off in preference is perplexing at best.

    Alan Pardew

wishful thinking. If we survive we will have "turned a corner" and he will have done a good job in showing he can turn things around. Seeing as Ashley won't hire a foreign manager, a Few signings this window is the best we can hope for.

    Alan Pardew

Huge game. I think it will be a draw. They won't sack him though. Regardless of injuries it's down to him to make sure we have a squad great enough to cope with the demands of the season. A good manager can motivate worse players than we have to play better. There is no excuse for today's performance. He can't come out with some bollocks about the sending off either (although he will), we were getting brutalized prior. I have zero faith in our coaching staff right now. Even with injuries we should be playing better with the personnel we have. They make the wrong decisions tactically and they set the team up to fail from the start. It is an absolute disaster right now.

Stuck with him. We can only hope we sign some new players or we are sinking.
