  1. Great day, but going to need several more of these before the end of the season if we get past the unthinkable to the super unthinkable. Will enjoy today while it lasts though!
  2. On the outside it seems like a good thing for the reasons mentioned. However on the downside we have been consistently rubbish after every break, even more so when we have bigged up how we will be better for it. We will also be losing momentum. Hopefully we can make up for our poor form after previous breaks this year.
  3. Low on confidence and frustrated by it. Desperately needs a mass of crowd love next game IMO, plus some more strawberry syrup obviously.
  4. 100% agree. Of course we would. That's what we do: buy on the cheap, get some performances out of them, sell for a profit. The guy still has potential, just needs to get back in the habit of having a night in once in a while. whether or not he'd have the right frame of mind to do that is another question. Personally, I wouldn't want him anyway, but away from Liverpool, in the right environment, with a renewed focus he could be a quality player. After really stepping up and improving rapidly when we gave him an opportunity he seems to have gone to Liverpool and not improved in the slightest. With that in mind, I think the right thing for Liverpool to do would be to loan him out. - Liverpool get him off the wage bill without having to admit defeat and take huge losses. - Carroll gets the games he needs (presumably) with less of a spotlight as well as having to take on board the "it's not working out" message, which will hopefully spur him on to get better. - Some third rate Prem team gets a beast of a workhorse on the cheap - that just isn't us. Don't see the purpose of him coming back here to sit on the bench. Actually think he would right now, but I don't see us doing it, he would want big money too. I think Liverpool will have to loan him out, no way they will want to sell for anything under 10m, there is nobody that would spend that on him either. Loan him out and get his value back, its the only real option, could see him going abroad, Mclaren will probably be sniffing.
  5. Needs games immediately, otherwise he is never going to get picked for the Olympics Big shame Marveaux has been so crocked, he would and should have been out on loan this year. Think he will be next year and the sold.
  6. Going to be a really exciting summer, especially if we do manage to get into Europe. 1x CB 1x LB 1x Winger/Striker 1x Central midfielder Plus a slew of younglings to come in also. Alot depends on whether the likes of Krul, Ba and Tiote are persuaded to stay or get taken off our hands with big money bids. Looks like we will be grabbing another pacy winger-cum striker. With Zaha, Moses and Hoillet all link. I would be over the moon with any of them but obviously hoping for the latter. We will certainly bin Loven and maybe besty too, would expect us to bring in one striker. Like to think two but probably one. Like to think there is something in the Debuchy rumors but I would be pretty shocked if Simpson doesn't end up staying and we keep Santon/Raylor as backup, that said I wouldnt be surprised if we bid for Clyne if he is on the move, regardless of Simpson staying or going. Pretty certain we will get a LB. Looking increasingly likely to be Pieters, I think we have been spoilt for choice of being linked with the likes of Cissokho and M'Bengue. Would really prefer someone that can bomb forward, but I haven't seen enough of the dutchman to comment on whether he will excel here. We will bring a CB that much is obvious. Seems certain we will be bringing in at least one more midfielder too. Big year for Marveaux.

Saw my first premier league match at Hillsborough, Bloody random too, I was watching them play Everton. Southall played an absolute blinder, it was cold, it rained a bit and other than a ruled out goal it was 0-0, but I do remember being confused by Carlton Palmer, he was the elastic man. Love to see them back in the Premiership tbh, always hated Sheffield United.
  8. It is ok, Pardew will keep subbing Ba until the last game when he turns into man of anger and erupts in a strawberry syrup rage against Chelsea.
  9. Which mean they will probably nick a 1-0 win.
  10. Sure it wasn't two of ours? Couple of toon fans had been doing the same thing the past couple of games.
  11. no he didnt, got ran ragged. had less problems in the second half as the scum knew they were beaten. Thought Ba did alright. How Willo got motm i will never know,. it's obvious that sky televison dodn't want to reward it to Perch because of the incidence with Reina. but that was even more of a reason to give it to Perch he was top notch today. His workrate was fantastic as it always is but he got completely raped, if it had been Raylor or Simpson their there would be a thread about it. Can't believe Santon would have done worse than Jonas but I slightly understand Pardew protecting Santon, at least I really hope that is what he is doing. Would like to see Jonas replace Guthrie and Santon back at LB for Swansea. Could see Raylor coming in too.
  12. I couldn't get angry as my arsehole was twitching too much as I couldnt tell at first glance whether Krul made contact!
  13. I would have been hugely p*ssed off if he hadn't gone down like a sack of s***, the game is built on cheating and diving at the slightest contact, Tiote didn't go down in siilar circumstances last year against Fulham (Murphy I think who then went on to run the game for them). I personally hate it, but it's part and parcel of the modern game, if someone is stupid enough to stick their head in your face you go down and make sure the ref sees it, no different to falling over when someone brushes past you. An unfortunate truth.
  14. I'd take him back here in a shot. He would have sit on the bench though! He is clearly hating Liverpool life. Thought he played well today, as Oldtype said he gave us a lot of problems, just wasn't his day thankfully. If Dogleash actually started him consistently and he played like that every game it would only take one or two of those chances going in to see him run riot
  15. Imagine adding another attacking midfielder, left winger to match Ben Arfa, quality left back and top centre back to play with Colo. Very exciting summer if we can reach Europe. The team oozed class even with a few saftey pins and band aids for certain parts of the pitch. The downside is who we will end up selling this summer. People will be in for Tiote and Ba without any doubt, question is will they go or can we persuade them we are going in the right direction for them to stay. Maybe more importantly will we suggest they go if the bid is high enough to fund multiple replacements. Really Tiote is my only worry, he is the type of player I have wanted for the past 15 years, its taken us this long to find him can we find another? On current form with our scouting staff I would say yes, but its a huge gamble.
  16. I thought so too, definitely had no intention of trying to embarrass Enrique any more than he had been already. Shame I really wanted to rub it in! Top class performance all around tbh. Williamson was better stepping out of Colo's shadow and taking some responsibility, best game for him in a long time. He was desperately unlucky not to score twice too. Second header that came after the break was immense, shearer-esq. For me Guti has to be in the team, his possession and work rate is invaluable. I'm not sure I agree with his decision to have him at left back today, he was ripped to complete shreds by Bellamy in the first half. Guthrie offered a bit more protection that Guti would have done in midfield though. I also think Pardew is still protecting Santon a bit too much, hopefully we get to see more of him next year. Damn I hope Ba gets his goalscoring boots back on, Cisse has however taken over his previous role in the team and what a revelation he is. Ba's work rate is known but still understated which is why it doesn't matter that he is in a scoring rut. Great to see Tiotes back, huge, huge player to have back for this game and the rest of this season, fingers crossed. One of the best moments was seeing Pardews reaction to Ben Arfa when he came off. A couple of months ago I was 90% sure Ben Arfa would be sold this summer, thankfully Pardew has finally given him the chance he needed via a run of games in the team and what a player he is. Even Simpson had a great game, probably should have been off, although it was closer to his shoulder he played for it.
  17. Most improved player of the year bar none. Immense contribution to the game today, my man of the match, which is tough as there were many worthy candidates. His tackling and blocks were great and as someone mentioned his distribution is decent too. Bit disappointed with his theatrics after the Reina incident, didn't tag him as that kind of a player. Ref obviously saw it. Still awesome.
  18. I honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing, he went on to describe himself as 'a very creative person' It's true, his fridge door is covered in famous footballers made from Macaroni , colored crayon drawings and long ball paintings
  19. Saw that too, clearly onside. Just looked offside because the five West Brom players in the box were about five yards behind Ben Arfa and Cisse.
  20. Poor show from Roy throwing his black armband on the floor. Not cool. Great first half, thought we were doing the usual in the second but we played it out well. So happy we switched 4-3-3 with Guti in the 3, think he is best there, front three were fantastic. Huge blow to lose Colo, not looking forward to any games that he will miss. Williamson again was doing his best Bramble impression. Credit again to Perchy.
  21. I don't particularly mind Simpson staying if Santon is starting at RB. I think Simpson will benefit from the competition and being dropped from the side. He has positives to his game that have been blown beyond sight with his largely woeful performances this season. Somehow Simpson is one of the first names on the team sheet, this isn't helping him want to improve. Given the motivation to work and cut out the glaring flaws to his game he could be decent back up. He reminds me a lot of Stephen Carr defensively, which in turn reminds me of why Habib Beye looked so great at RB when he came. It is a worrying sign that Santon has been dropped in favor of Raylor, yet Simpson stays at RB. Pardew is very very cautious with playing younger foreign players in their first season though as we have seen with Tevez, Ben Arfa etc..
