I always thought he was left sided as I remember him playing LB before RW, he was apparently playing out of position though.
-
Out of interest, how does he compare to Bentley. I havent seen Larsson play for nearly three seasons now. Bentley was a bit more of a showboat/flair player from memory but how is he pace wise? Obviously we should snap their hands off at that price rather than pay spuds kings ransom for Bentley.
-
Would be a decent signing. Not as talented as Bentley but more consistent. The return of Scott Parker from West Ham tbh. Junior Stanislas would be a good shout from West Ham, unlikely if the Larsson rumor is true same with Behrami. If we signed Carlton Cole I would give up on life. What? Was merged from the transfer targets thread where we were talking about Pardew being after a West Ham player. Just to clear up the randomness.. as for the opinion I cant help you!

Sorry, brain fart. I meant Blackburn not Chelsea. Dont know how that slipped out, although he does seem like someone that would have played for Chelsea.

Bentley really broke unto the scene on loan at Norwich playing through the centre and has played on the left wing for both spuds and chelsea. If he comes here I dont think he will kick up a fuss about where he plays across the midfield. Barton is very diverse too, when his confidence is high he will excel in most positions, it seems a shame to move him from RW where he has been a revelation but I think we will have enough injuries/games for everyone to get a fair share but yet not disrupt the team. I think most people have their hearts set on a winger-cum-striker that has bags of pace. As one of those people, taking a step back, Bentley could be a shrewd decision, certainly if we can get him settled and motivated. I still think we will sign a striker in addition so we might get both, fingers crossed. We do have a potential midfield for the future too in Lua Lua, Gosling, Vuckic and Ferguson. I think with the clubs current blue print its more likely we will focus on getting them experience in and out of the club than investing big on anyone else. RB wise, I think we are good to sit tight at least until the end of the season. Simpson has improved leaps and bounds since returning from injury. We have cover with Raylor, Saylor and maybe Gosling. Someone better than Simpson would be something for his to aspire to and play up to, but we dont want to stifle his progress either. Should be fine with what we have until the summer.

The funny thing is that it was blindingly obvious Hodgson was going to need time. It was the same at Fulham and they nearly went down. The same at Blackburn but Jack Walker made the decision to sack him, which like now might be the right thing to do. Hodgson was always the wrong appointment, the majority of Liverpool fans expected a champions league place and pushing for the title this year. They are miles away from that. I do think Hodgson could bring that given time, but I dont think many associated with the club can accept that.

Dalglish would struggle just like Keegan did on his return here, horrible morale and some shit players takes time to fix. Might buy some time to find the right manager though, at least the fans would initially be back on side, like Keegan's return.

strangely, we are not one of the clubs listed as being interested in the Sky Sports article.

Sessegnon cometh.. then goeth pretty sharply when Dean Windass turns up with Andy Hessenthaler ready to sign in time for the Stevenage game.

curbishley was manager iirc when reading slaughtered them back then Good call! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/6205803.stm No wonder Pardew looked hurt, would have been funnier if he had remembered it wasnt actually his team that got thumped.. ... "Er.. actually that wasnt my team, but nice try." Can imagine he got back to the dressing room cursing about the Reading game, until he realised, wait a minute.. http://img.youtube.com/vi/NefM2gVo9mw/default.jpg WHAAAAAT

Funny BBC interview where the interviewer asked a shocked Pardew If he had any empathy for Avram Grant having been on the wrong end of a heavy by Reading back when he was managing West Ham "that must have been painfull". Pardew quickly retorts with "well I havent had many" and basically blew the question off. Still want to punch him in the face everytime I see him.

In addition to Cheick, Barton and Simpson are looking stronger and stronger too. Given Jonas' inability to cross Id say their partnership is possibly the stronger of the two sides.
-
He was an abomination tonight. Possibly West Hams worst player, looked unfit, could have cared less and played terribly. Wouldnt want him anywhere near our club. I would be fucking distraught if I was a West Ham fan watching him. Rather have Shola ffs.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Thought we mixed it up quite well tonight, played the majority of the game on the turf though. As long as we have the players up front and players capable of picking out a decent long ball I dont mind us throwing a few in. -
I was thinking that today when he helped Simpson out on the right byline by playing the pass with the outside of his right boot. In a way it's good he's not been noticed by the England camp, but it'll also do his confidence a world of good if he gets called up. One thing he has never lacked. He deserves the call to be sure.
-
I'd say he is close if not back to the form he was on when he was at his best for Man City. Playing a much different role now and a more rounded player. Evident from the commentators today the press is backing off a little. (until he does something stupid again!)
-
Played very well in the Carling Cup earlier in the season, looked self assured today too. Liked the fact he wasnt taking any crap from Ben Haim too. Like a snotty nosed school kid.."you do know my big brothers Tiote and Barton are over there, touch me and they will fuck you up."
-
Nail on the head really, I think more time at this level right now could end up being a detriment to him. Should be a nice sweetner for any deals we are looking to do in the championship. Maybe a make weight for QPR or Leeds, if we go down that route.
-
This really, wont be effective against most sides unless he mans up. Decent back up. Certainly still need another striker at least to play with Carroll. Ship Ranger out on loan, sell xisco. new striker and AC, with Shola, Best, Loven might do us until the end of the season. We will also need to replace one of shola, best and loven come the summer though.

Could actually see all of them sacked tmrw bar Houllier, who probably has another month. Absolutely shocking time to do it though, could work in our favour during the transfer window!

This is the Best thread, I've ever been in, dududu dududu

happy for him, he was so composed all game, hope the knock he picked up wont keep him out too long, expect he, Jonas, Saylor and maybe tiote will miss stevenage. -
Truely think an England call up is on the cards, provided he keeps fit and doesnt do anything stupid. Absolutely immense today from start to finish, he was still busting a gut in the 93rd. Loved the ovation he got from all parts of the ground when taking set pieces. Few would have seen this coming a couple of years ago, even if some of us knew he had the talent.

Absolute pap tonight, Jason Lee esque. We need to get someone in and send him out on loan asap. Needs some experience and confidence.
