Just think he is too limited. has little experience in europe, has won next to nothing. is a slightly better than mediocre premiership manager. will get things going in the short term but cant see him taking us much further than 6th. i dont know he has the bottle to cope with all the expectation and shit he would get here, why should he. would be a sideways step at best and not worthy of sacking sam for imo.

Got a tab to pay off at the strawberry.

Hope so but unlikely. fair enough he might fancy linking up with papa geremi and n zog but thats on the proviso he gets first team football. maybe our new manager doesnt fancy him.

Can we cure the impatience and unrealistic expectations?

better to go into liquidation for a few years then work our way back up from nothing, at least we will have deserved it then. -
f****** hell, Baggio is almost single-handedly making me believe in Redknapp's potential to succeed here. Maybe he could, but then maybe Allardyce could have done aswell? Now that we've cut out one 'maybe' man, why appoint another - who's probably even less likely to? Now we've sacked him we might aswell go all out and bring in someone quality. Of course Allardyce could have done, but like I said in that other thread, the full story is yet to be told on that score. If Allardyce had lost the players and the fans, for instance, then could he turn it around? I'm not advocating Redknapp ahead of the likes of Mourinho, Lippi, Scolari (if there is even a remote possibility of us getting somebody to "blow our socks off") but he might be the best we can get. Sad but possibly true. To be fair he has a good thing going down at pompey dont see why he would want to change that.

What worries me is who the hell is advising Mort and Ashley? Neither were big football fans before now. I dont condone booing, but if its a shit appointment they should know about it. One thing th board have to know: The man appointed can have nothing less than 100% support this time or he is doomed.
-
Just cant see more than a very generous 80% of fans ever getting behind Rednapp or the likes of hughes. The whole point of sacking allardyce is a clean break to get "The Right Man". Even the most loyal and patient fans wouldnt deny through the false smiles and applause they hoped for better should a mediocre Rednapp point make his managerial debut here.

boss eyed His complete lack of loyalty between Pompey and Southampton was when he lost alot of my respect, not to mention apparent dodgy doings. Decent mediocre manager that should get us playing football again, but wouldnt get us higher than 6th often if at all.
-
True but you would be happy with Houllier too. to be fair Houllier would do a decent job given time, fact is he doesnt have the charisma and certainly wont play the kind of attacking football people seem to throw a fit at not getting.
-
Hughes has done nothing to impress me, no different to Souness, has blackburn playing some good attacking football, but has been inconsistent this season. Doesnt have the character or tactical noose to manage this club or the crap that comes with it. Rednapp wont get us higher than 6th. Really dislike the guy. But he is good on a small budget I suppose. Dont see why he would want to come tbh, but its harder finding an answers as to why I would like him here.

Im getting the tissues out already. its either going to be a bloody good appointment or a terrible one, with all the signs looking towards the latter.
-
Looks like Harry or Hughes.
-
Better hope Pompey reject our bids then.
-
Maybe mort and ashley read anals article and sacked sam on impulse. now they are sat scratching their heads as to who the new manager is. sat on the edge of their seats ready to read what anal says
-
Maybe kadar isnt a sam signing after all. god knows what this means for barton who can count himself partly to blame for sams exit.
-
Again depends what you mean from experienced. hughes is experienced having managed a national Team and premiership. rednapp is a hugely experienced manager. i feel sick at the thought of either of them. i think people are getting their hopes up over a comment that was only meant to justify why they wont appoint an un experienced shearer rather than looking for the manager with the best cv.
-
Depends what you call experienced i guess. hopefully of winning things in england and abroad so the likes of hughes and mcclaren are ou
-
If we keep the score in single figures i will be happy. players will be completely dejected. will be a complete spanking.
-
brian little/frank clarke wonder team.
-
Not even god would be given enough time to turn things around here with some of the mongs that call themselves supporters. the next manages simply has to be foreign there simply arent any british coaches Bar saf that could take us where we want to go.
-
Not a bloody chance. id be shocked if anyone else comes in this window
-
I cant see the logic. rednapp or hughes are both backwards steps. yet again its an opportunity missed to get someone decent in. both will coast through the first couple of months by just playing 442 and playing people in the right place. neither can take us beyond 6th or have the tactical noose to play with the big boys though. Wont be long until we are back in the same position again.
-
Hugely gutting, hughes is a backwards step.

The "I will do something obscene if the club appoints McClaren" thread.
