Newcastle 1 - 0 Sampdoria (friendly) - post match reaction from page 24
toontownman replied to NSG's topic in Football
Actually have a decent pool to pick from for this one. What are the rules for substitutions? Could we field two different teams if we wanted? Given Harper Carr, Taylor, Cacapa, Roz, Hunty, Ramage, Edgar, Solano, Milner, Geremi, Smith, Butt, N'Zog, DYER?? Troisi Shola, Viduka, Martins, Luque, Carroll Plus the usual academy boys. Id expect Cacapa to get some time, whether its a half or more im not sure, but will definatley get some time on the pitch. Will surely start with the basic side for next weekend. Looks a little light in midfield, but its a decent squad despite missing Barton, Duff, Emre, Owen and I guess I better add Babayaro. -
Spurs were alledgedly interested, but your point is spot on.

Its an elaborate hoax to stick two fingers up at West Ham for trying to nick Joey Barton after we were selling them Parker. Its obviously better we get rid of Dyer if he really is that unhappy here, lets face it if he wasnt he will be after the eggs incident. On the flip side we are more than within our rights to demand more for Dyer the way West Ham have been throwing away money and the british market inflation. If anything id say he is worth more than Parker, has better England credentials, more European experience and whilst its close scores alot more. Obviously the injuries take alot off, but Parker was certainly not captain invincible for us. If he stays im sure Sam will sort him out and he will get his head down, we will find use for him. If he doesnt then we are more than covered. Talk of a loyalty bonus is as likely as Titus managing to count to ten on his fingers. Im not even going to give consideration to Dyer being that absurd.

The key to the team is in who is organising it. Smith will be a valuable player for what Allardyce wants to bring to this club to get us winning matches, and will add to the choices already at his disposal. One thing Smith will bring is bite and a spine in away matches that few of our players fancied using over the last few seasons. Not to mention his versatility and experience of being in one of the best teams in the world and winning things. Dependant on where and who we are playing he will be very useful IMO. And whilst its going a little step too far, id say there are few sides in the league that can match our versatility up front.

"As a boy I supported... Liverpool. As a local lad I used to watch from The Kop when Robbie Fowler was making his name. I started out at Liverpool's Centre of Excellence and although it was disappointing when nothing came of it, I was lucky that both Wigan and Wolves wanted to sign me." http://www.fourfourtwo.premiumtv.co.uk/page/TheBoys/0,,11442~587312,00.html Crappy journalism tbh. As ever a quality report from SS. Has anyone seen then current poll on the bottom of the page? Latest Poll Who will win the Barclays Premier League Liverpool Chelsea Arsenal Manchester United Spurs Everton Other Putting Spurs in is bad enough.

Plus Mark Delaney is signing. woop!

And Ramage never had a bad game against....... ...it means nothing anyways.

Surely the last player Allardyce wants in will be either at RB or DM? If Drago and Enrique join LB is basically sorted, plus we will have 4 first team CBs plus Ramage, Huntingdon and Edgar. Just depends whether Sam thinks we need a DM dominator or a classy RB. Personally Id rather plum for the RB, giving Carr more direct competition and allowing Geremi and Solano back into the midfield. DM can wait for a later point, Butt and possible Geremi, Smith and certainly Rozenhal can play there if needed. Should we wrap up Drago, Enrique (baines) and a RB over the next week or so it will be interesting to see if our spending stops there, with two or three weeks left to possibly put the icing on the top of the squad cake.
-
Sam and Ashley have snapped. "You whinging bastards want left backs, heres some fucking left backs!" Strange.. surely at most we would be signing two from Enrique/Drago and Baines? But as mentioned, whilst unlikely, its possible the N'Zog to Fulham links might be true, with Diop coming the other way. All shall be revealed over the next couple of days, although Id expect the Baines deal to be the most doubtfull of the lot.
-
Signing Baines makes sense if we are getting Drago. We will have the potential and experience for which ever game we need them for. Wes Brown would be an excellent addition aswell coving RB and CB. Id wager we dont end up with any of them. But fingers crossed anyways.
-
Around the best for me so far. Sure we will be playing 4-4-2 at home and 4-3-3/4-5-1 away. But all games will depend on the oposition. Still think we will add a DM in addition to the defenders incoming. Diop/Faye looking likely possibly both. I cant believe the competition for places we have already. Not that I dont rate Butt, I like the idea of Diop or similar as lynchpin with any two of Smith, Barton, Geremi and Emre infront: It will be hard keeping everyone happy, even prior to Dyers departure I didnt know where he could fit into our starting 11. Its hard to find a spot for Milner, Solano and N'Zog in the 4-3-3 if we play 3 Strikers up top. Everyone should get games if we are switching formations regularly, based on opponents, its nice to have these options.
-
Diop would be great, a new club is exactly what he needs. Still prefer Appiah though, he is a beast.
-
can see him doing some time for this. Big name footballer, perfect person to make an example of. Suprised he is denying it, but I guess we dont know the facts. Quite possible Dabo might have provoked it, is it Joeys fault he landed with the punches rather than the usual girly misses? Ok, expect to find him missing for a few months.
-
My dog could be back up for Carr, we dont need back up we need someone to replace him.
-
Prefer it to be Steinsson tbh.. Delaney makes no sense, is he even fit enough to train yet?
-
Reasonably happy with this. Would like to see Dyers pace replaced, but Smith will give us more options than Dyer. Buying a RB/RW like Steinsson with alot of pace would be a decent move. Glad it turned out to be Smith not Fletcher mind. Bidding for Diop would be excellent aswell.

Was never the same after I had his name put on my shirt in 1999. Thanks for the memories, shame most of them are shit ones.

Dyer given permission to talk to West Ham, fee agreed

Very happy with the deal if it turns out to be £6m. Whilst Dyer can be usefull, especially his pace and ability to open up holes in the opposition defence, he isnt a name I put in the potential starting line ups. His past attitude and form aside, even if he was happy to stay here I would struggle to see where he would fit in to our side other than on the bench. Just hope we can spend the money on someone that would slot into our team. Alan Smith could fit in better than Dyer, but we can do better. Going to be a cracker against West Ham this year. -
we shall see... suprised none of the papers have picked up on any potential Dyer replacement in the offing. Sam said hopefully one or two by the end of the week. So one in tmrw would be possible with the second maybe spilling over to the weekend. 3 defenders and defensive midfield and a replacement for Dyer would do me. Any transfer at the moment would seem a suprise!

Next signing an experienced centre-half for 'free' (Chronicle)

Amady that is... Dont think Abdoulaye would be too bad, hardly inspiring, but solid, experienced in the premier league and Europe, plus he knows Allardyce, for the 500k rising to 1m isnt too bad for a stop gap. -

Faye incoming. -
Rather try offering 6m for diouf. Baffling times at the moment.
-
Doesnt look like we have that amount of money to gamble.
-
£3m plus Diop and Quedrue, and id be tempted. Cant see him leaving though, unless he wants to. If thats the case then Id rather he left than we kept him here sulking and losing value.

You dont need to, there is a thread about it halfway down the main page. The state we are in, and the apparent lack of funds/players available I guess we could do worse than Faye. improvement on ramage and huntingdon at least. PSG reserve left back, faye and someone else might see us through to January, with places and pride left to salvage.
