Glad its done. Not really the deal I wanted wrapped up though, N'Zogbia needs to pull his fucking finger out and sign! 7.5m stupid business really, but we didnt want to keep an unhappy player. Hopefully we fully use this money, like most on here im expecting a statement tmrw explaining how the deals we had lined up fell through but the money will be invested in the summer. -

Nah, whats he going to fail his medical on. -
http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Football/2009/02/01/Premier-League-Newcastle-were-in-for-Faubert/gnid-38176/ As the link says, we were in for Faubert apparently. JFK was talking Ryan Taylor plus two. Anything can happen on deadline day though, agents are in overdrive. The two we have lined up will probably fall through, but then we might get tit face mckay call and do us a couple of Sibierski type deals. Over optimistically, we get Taylor and the two we want then get a couple more offered to us we like!

Was impressed with him again. We dont have much of a choice right now, he needs to be taking these chances and using them. He hasnt let us down yet, think we will sell him or loan him out in the summer though (if we stay up).

He was reasonably solid, only gave away the ball once that I remember. So he is already our best central midfielder for years. Gave a physical presence we have been missing, got some nice tackles in and played the ball around nicely, his height is a huge plus too. Seemed like the only player willing to receive and take the ball into the box through the centre, his runs down the middle will be novel from what we are used to. Overall an encouraging start that will hopefully see his confidence and contribution grow as he settles, rather than his belly.

Something has to be done about how we playing in the first half of games. We just arent hitting the ground running. Conceeding sloppy goals that make us even shakier at the back then struggling to unlock any doors to get into the game. 1996 home game vs Villa is on now on Sportsnet, a very depressing contrast. -

Fucking hope Le Sulk signs that contract soon. Can see this one going tits up after N'Zogbia and his agent asks for superstar wages. -
Jose Enrique out for at least three weeks with hamstring injury

Are we really going to offload him? He was amazing today. We would be mad to let him go. -
Jonas Gutierrez signed from Mallorca on 5 year deal

Its an un-orthodox one though. Due to his woeful crossing the link up is an essential one, really we need Enrique over lapping more and trying to get balls across. Jonas is doing a great job of sucking the ball and players into the corner then free-ing Enrique up for the cross. Should be in another thread but the very thought of losing Enrique is horrifying. -
He will come good. Although it is all turning a little Boumsong at the moment.

About right that. Good solid debut by Nolan, looked very solid and gave a presence we have been lacking. Him and Barton would be a monster partnership. -

Duff and Ameobi should have put away a couple in that second half. Yet another predictable piss poor first half performance from our gutless wonders. Much better performance in the second half. Bassong MOM, but Enrique there with him. Jonas, Nolan, Carroll were all good too. Get a couple of decent buys in tmrw and Martins and co returning we could yet get ourselves out of trouble. -
