  1. Ah yes but this is our coaching staff. So you're saying Pearson is over-rated? I didn't know he was rated at all, never mind over-rated. Was he not tipped to take over the U21's? I, like you, have no clue, but others around here seem to think he's a genius. Tipped by who, the Chronicle? The FA clearly went nowhere near him. Some people on here think Luque is world class. You do the math, as the Americans probably don't say as much as i like to think they do. I'm Canadian, we don't do math. EDIT: Ahahahahahahaha..... tut tut ^-^
  2. Cort was great for us until he got injured. Unfortunately that wasnt very long. Ameobi is better allround IMO.
  3. Aye. Thats why he might well work just behind the front two. This of course means Dropping two of Emre, Butt and Parker though, but its great to have the options where ever he plays.
  4. Canada, My brothers currently over there and gets the Fox and ESPN channels with his package, think theres another seperate soccer channel aswell though. Newcastle seem to be on quite a bit, would have thought having one of the countries best players might help with the schedule bias though..
  5. Dyer's record is shit and he isn't a whippersnapper either. My point being that the Dyer-Martins combo has already proven to be a good partnership - producing goals and causing danger. Not especially displeased with the Piquionne signing - i just hope he hasn't been brought here to be Martins strike partner. As others have said... it's decent cover and better than the likes of Sibierski/Luque. I've really fallen for the Dyer-Martins partnership, though, and i feel there is no need changing it. A, because it works, and B, Dyer appears incapable of effecting a game from a midfield position anymore. Agree 100%. Martins/Dyer is a partnership that has been proved that it works as we look dangerous as soon as we're attacking. Don't want to mess that up. Is true, but in the second half of the spurs game coming forward as Sibbers, Martins and Dyer we actually always looked like scoring. Replace Sibbers with someone better and maybe we can manage the whole game! That said it would mean reverting to Dyer as an AM again as mentioned above, but having options like that is what we want and need. If we get this player in and some bodies back from injury we have enough talent to play alot of different combinations to suit the teams we are playing.
  6. Freddy will be touching himself over the coverage we will be getting in the states. Plus this might guarentee more matches getting shown over in the states/Canada for when i mover out in a few months.
  7. I agree, like mentioned will he stop parker and dyer playing if picked? On the other hand the above our trying to break into the side and stay there, its an important match for them, Martins will walk into the Nigerian side for the next few years whether he plays or not. Its understandable he wants to protect a player who is vital to our season, we pay good money for him and look after him, like Owen its us that will pay for the treatment if he is injured. For the sake of a meaningless friendly that might harm our season and the player is it worth it? Again that said, its not quite meaningless, so just letting him play a half is pleasing for both parties.
  8. With the amount of games we have and the constant injury situations I dont think that will be a problem.
  9. Dyer/Martins does look good, but its not always going to work against every team. Im happy to stick with that against weaker teams with slower players at the back though, given time it can only develop and improve. Should Emre ever return I would imagine Parker and the Turk will be automatic choice for Midfield, Dyer can work well on the right, but Milner certainly doesnt deserve to be dropped. Its actually refreshing to think there might be players getting left out before too long. Albeit a toss up between which CB wants to play at LB.
  10. With Kanu and Yakubu both being there and it being in London just requesting he plays a half makes sense. I can understand where Glenn is coming from, if it was in Africa fair enough, but it shouldnt be too much worse than an intense training session. Sense should provail, but then again this is Newcastle United we are talking about
  11. Likewise. Although it mystifies me why for at least the 3rd transfer window in a row we have neglected to get in a decent LB, which we have struggled to fill for years. In some ways I would have preffered to see a decent experienced LB in than a CB. But we cant be picky. Piquionne should be good enough until the end of the season and if we can tie it up tmrw then maybe just maybe we can spend the last day and a bit looking for someone else. No doubt Willy Mckay will be rubbing his hands in anticipation.
  12. Nay to the videos. How long does the Visa clearance take? Id take it he probably had a wee training session today and will be in tmrw, so might figure in some way weds if he is cleared?
  13. Good news if true. Not the saviour but might turn out to be a usefull addition, better foil for Martins than Sibbers. So much for going for proven premiership experience then.
  14. Dont see him coming either. But its nice to have something to think about making the hours pass. Though it is an extreme rarity the soccer master is talking sense.
  15. Great boost to have him back, lets hope he can stay fit and really show us what he is all about. If we can get him back playing to his best he and Milner will be fantastic for us on either wing. Despite the cliche, he will be like having a new player, I just hope he puts his problems behind him and come out fighting, ala good form rather than Dyer/Bowyer stylee.
  16. More of a provider than goal scorer by the sounds of things. Spuds, West ham and Real Betis have been after him aswell. Also they were said to have offered him to charlton for Marcus Bent in exchange. Would give us another option up front, but would both he and Gooch be cup tied for Europe??
  17. Absolutley, plus he actually wants to play for us, despite the lethargic displays sometimes.
  18. Sounds about right though. We have been waiting for a signing for so long i'd expect them to milk it for all that its worth. If this Babel thing miraculously comes off, they'll be introduced together. Assuming we are even in talks for Babel. Wishfull thinking though. Living in the world of madness if we got Babel would we still try for Piquionne? We were after two strikers to begin with. Either would do like.
  19. Yep looking good. "Im aware of him, but he isnt a player im looking to sign" to "Please god, let him sign" We seriously arent getting anyone in.
  20. Comes as little suprise. Id seriously doubt our interest in the other two aswell. Just cant wait until Thursday, well maybe Thursday week so the mass hysteria of us not signing anyone dies down.
  21. If Babel comes in and makes the same impact we will be very lucky!
  22. Thought that applied to everyone that came in, bar a return of Bellamy.
  23. Still dont see it happening, but i have my fingers crossed. Tabloids generally know nothing, the mail especially. Is quite like Walcott, so its possible Arsenal might not bid, although they will need a replacement for Henry before too long.
