  1. My god look at the size of his hands, its like wearing one of those Bolton/Soccer AM/Gladiator/shit Fuzzy gloves, but for real!
  2. He was also shocking for the first moth we had him. Boumsongs problem, like Bramble, and possibly Gooch is that they all needed leadership next to them. Boum lost the plot when his personal life went to hell, yet he was still looked upon as the guy to hold up the team. All he needed was someone to look up to and carry the load, unfortunatley for both of us he didnt have that and went to pieces.
  3. Oh well, id resigned myself to not getting anyone in anyways, so if we manage to get anyone a miracle will have occured.
  4. Ok just blame Skirge.. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=35626.20 I honestly did think I had read aswell though.
  5. SNN's reported yesterday that he would be here this morning. They havent said anything today as far as im aware. Just a case of SSN either jumping the gun or being full of shit again.
  6. I Thought it would be a lock for Blackpool to get it, they need it the most. Goverment is really pushing Manchester, BBC heading to Salford, Its a great city, but im suprised it didnt go to Blackpool which could have turned the city around.
  7. Given our history in the transfer window the longer the confirmation is taking the worse this place is going to get. Wouldnt be the first time the window slammed shut in our face knocking our teeth out. Its just easy to jump on the SSN rumours ship and then be gutted when we are left out at sea with the club denying them or the deals failing to materialise. Ie: this Piquionne deal being far from SSN's reporting of him being here this morning leaving people
  8. That said it took about the same time for Sol Campbell to stop looking like a complete donkey, although sometime he has to oblige. Its a known fact Bramble needs a leader next to him, thats why he looked great alongside Woody and to an extent Boumsong in his first season, the minute boumsong lost all confidence (and apparent talent) the partnership was useless. Whether Gooch can fill this void who knows. Although the fact that Bramble has managed to perform without a leader next to him on more than several occasions is cause for hope. But how many chances does he get?
  9. Bramble is a far superior talent to Ramage. But when will he learn? like Yorkie said 3 different managers and he still hasnt cut out the errors that are holding him back. How many chances does the man have, how many goals does he have to give away? Ramage has had a mare the last few months, but he has a good 4 years of errors before he catches Bramble up. Personally I think Moore will be off, Bramble will do enough to earn an extension, we will loan Hunty and Edgar out, buy Davies or similar and have a central defence of Taylor, Bramble, Gooch, Davies, Ramage, Bit of luck we will ship out Carr and Baba and get in a couple of LB's and a decent RB.
  10. Like you say, getting Piquionne in tmrw is the first port of call, Babel should be a bonus if he is as good as the hype. We should be straight out looking for a LB after Piquionne, nay we should be breaking down Manures door to try and get Heinze..although I could very well see that turning into a Bridge/Cole situation like last window. Collocini would be a bonus, not least for the cover he can give a RB, i dont think we are interested though especially with Carr back and Nobby excelling. Who knows what can happen in the next 50 and a half hours and who might be available, its also possible some of the offers we put on the table but were pushed back might be back on.
  11. Who is to say we arent trying to get them both? We wanted 2 strikers initially, Id say we are trying for Piquionne and then if somehow we manage to get Babel we will take him too. That said im sure we will be told tmrw by anal neither are targets.
  12. Doubt anything will be confirmed until the morning, especially if we are indeed bringing another player in tmrw. Although they might put something up later to say he is set to sign tmrw after the medical was passed. That is if he passes it and agrees to the whole arrangement.
  13. Think he will be able to cope in the premiership? who is he comparable with?
  14. Ah yes but this is our coaching staff. So you're saying Pearson is over-rated? I didn't know he was rated at all, never mind over-rated. Was he not tipped to take over the U21's? I, like you, have no clue, but others around here seem to think he's a genius. Tipped by who, the Chronicle? The FA clearly went nowhere near him. Some people on here think Luque is world class. You do the math, as the Americans probably don't say as much as i like to think they do. I'm Canadian, we don't do math. EDIT: Ahahahahahahaha..... tut tut ^-^
  15. Cort was great for us until he got injured. Unfortunately that wasnt very long. Ameobi is better allround IMO.
  16. Aye. Thats why he might well work just behind the front two. This of course means Dropping two of Emre, Butt and Parker though, but its great to have the options where ever he plays.
  17. Canada, My brothers currently over there and gets the Fox and ESPN channels with his package, think theres another seperate soccer channel aswell though. Newcastle seem to be on quite a bit, would have thought having one of the countries best players might help with the schedule bias though..
  18. Dyer's record is shit and he isn't a whippersnapper either. My point being that the Dyer-Martins combo has already proven to be a good partnership - producing goals and causing danger. Not especially displeased with the Piquionne signing - i just hope he hasn't been brought here to be Martins strike partner. As others have said... it's decent cover and better than the likes of Sibierski/Luque. I've really fallen for the Dyer-Martins partnership, though, and i feel there is no need changing it. A, because it works, and B, Dyer appears incapable of effecting a game from a midfield position anymore. Agree 100%. Martins/Dyer is a partnership that has been proved that it works as we look dangerous as soon as we're attacking. Don't want to mess that up. Is true, but in the second half of the spurs game coming forward as Sibbers, Martins and Dyer we actually always looked like scoring. Replace Sibbers with someone better and maybe we can manage the whole game! That said it would mean reverting to Dyer as an AM again as mentioned above, but having options like that is what we want and need. If we get this player in and some bodies back from injury we have enough talent to play alot of different combinations to suit the teams we are playing.
  19. Freddy will be touching himself over the coverage we will be getting in the states. Plus this might guarentee more matches getting shown over in the states/Canada for when i mover out in a few months.
  20. I agree, like mentioned will he stop parker and dyer playing if picked? On the other hand the above our trying to break into the side and stay there, its an important match for them, Martins will walk into the Nigerian side for the next few years whether he plays or not. Its understandable he wants to protect a player who is vital to our season, we pay good money for him and look after him, like Owen its us that will pay for the treatment if he is injured. For the sake of a meaningless friendly that might harm our season and the player is it worth it? Again that said, its not quite meaningless, so just letting him play a half is pleasing for both parties.
  21. With the amount of games we have and the constant injury situations I dont think that will be a problem.
  22. Dyer/Martins does look good, but its not always going to work against every team. Im happy to stick with that against weaker teams with slower players at the back though, given time it can only develop and improve. Should Emre ever return I would imagine Parker and the Turk will be automatic choice for Midfield, Dyer can work well on the right, but Milner certainly doesnt deserve to be dropped. Its actually refreshing to think there might be players getting left out before too long. Albeit a toss up between which CB wants to play at LB.
  23. With Kanu and Yakubu both being there and it being in London just requesting he plays a half makes sense. I can understand where Glenn is coming from, if it was in Africa fair enough, but it shouldnt be too much worse than an intense training session. Sense should provail, but then again this is Newcastle United we are talking about
  24. Likewise. Although it mystifies me why for at least the 3rd transfer window in a row we have neglected to get in a decent LB, which we have struggled to fill for years. In some ways I would have preffered to see a decent experienced LB in than a CB. But we cant be picky. Piquionne should be good enough until the end of the season and if we can tie it up tmrw then maybe just maybe we can spend the last day and a bit looking for someone else. No doubt Willy Mckay will be rubbing his hands in anticipation.
