Cant see why we would want to shell out £4m on Riggott and yet not be interested in paying about the same for Upson and half of the price for Distin who are both better IMO. Just more made up paper talk.
-
Duff has had the most serious injury, and is back alot earlier than expected. Both Dyer and Parker have been back in training alot longer than Emre. From the information given Dyer and Parker are fit and Emre is touch and go, more likely to throw the fitter guy into the side IMO.
-
I'd go with the complete opposite of that TBH. I would start Emre with Butt as they've both looked different players without Parker. I'd also start Sibbers with Martins to further develop their partnership and leave Dyer on the bench becuase he's the only person capable of really changing a game in the last 35 minutes if we need to chase the win AND he's hardly the most reliable person to play against a big, physical Watford side scrapping for points. Duff will start if fit. I agree with what your saying, but Emre, Duff and Sibbers will need easing back, whilst Parker and Dyer are raring to go. Its not a case of who would be best, its putting the fit players in and avoiding further injuring the player that are coming back, holding them back for the chelsea game certainly wont be a bad thing either. The way he has been playing id pick emre ahead of Parker, but we need to keep our players off the injury table until the end of January at least.
-
Id expect Emre and Duff to start on the bench if they are fit enough. Parker and Dyer back in.. maybe Sibbers on the bench as a precaution aswell.

Good draw followed by dodgy one, but if we want to win the cup we will have harder teams than AZ and Fener to beat to lift it.

Predictably made up take over rumours again. Not too much of a problem though. Fat Fred knows he can hold out for alot more money. He can splash out a bit in January safe in the knowledge he will get it all back when he gets his share when he sells, and will have a few more fans on his side because he spends some money before he goes. To be honest Im not sure i like all the sources that seems to be interested, just doesnt sit well with me when its a company rather than a figurehead. Either way when it EVENTUALLY does happen the club will be run more professionally, but more like a business than an institution. -
Great draw for us, got to be delighted with how things have turned out so far.

First-half diagnosis? What a battle could have had two or three goals, defended well, hung on a bit at the end but great performance Second-half diagnosis? Much the same, took the inevitable goal with grace and really went for it, didnt lie down and kept plugging until the final whistle Full-time diagnosis? One of the best battling displays we have seen in a long time, the belief is back in the dressing room and its getting back out to the stands, result aside performances like that and the addition of our injured players will see us right back where we want to be. Star man for United? All of them - each player went out there with a demon and vanquished them, they can take this performance with them for the rest of the season and beyond. Worst United player? hard to single anyone out. There were a few errors from everyone but no one let us down. Opposition comment? Didnt look like league champions for the most part, but certainly had the class when it counted. Toon-pros? The performance The young-uns playing out of their skins Martins playing well again likewise every other regular Defence was great for the most part Also looked like scoring Toon-cons? N'Zog out, Sibbers taking another knock Gutted not to take something from the game, but it cant be held against them. Post-match feelings? If all goes well we will have Solano, Emre, Parker, Duff and Dyer to put back into the side by this time next week. Fantastic fight from our boys though, barely had anyone over the age of 23 playing. Have real belief that we have turned a corner after tonights performance. We just missed that extra magic and class but ran them really close. Props out to Roeder who's tactics were spot on we sat deep and chelsea rarely got in behind us, we battled as good as i have seen us battle in recent seasons and have given ourselves another morale boost even with a loss. A corner has certainly been turned, now Watford must feel our wrath come the weekend

How about. To the tune of This old man (nic nac paddy wack etc)... Nicky Butt, Was a Manc, We Bought him and he played wank, Shipped him off to Birmingham on a years loan They went down and he came home Now he's Back, playing great, And hes gone and lost some weight, Now hes a Ginge, Manc, midfield tank, making people hurt Now he's fit to wear our shirt.

Pardew Gone, Curbishley In (3pm press conference)

who would get them into the top 4 then? west ham are no richer than pompey, liverpool, manu, chelsea or tottenham, and their not going to finish top 4 no matter who they appoint. its not like they have the richest chairman in football ffs, all teams have rich chairmen these days. Im just looking at it as i would had it been happening here. They are shaking the club up completely, they have money, yes its not Chelski money but its a fair decent amount of money, they have the chance and they are in the position to get someone in place that can really build something good. He is to West Ham what Roeder is to us, They could do better IMO. -
you can but you won't make much sense. i can say its a chain of wrong decisons made by one person that will get everyone behind my back.. I just think you want everyone behind your back :winking:

Can you tick all of the above?? (edit more options on the poll since i started writing.. so just the ones below) Dalglish should have been a good appointment he had a fantastic track record, but never understood or became one with the passion of the area. Whilst he did wonders to repair the damage Keegan had done scrapping the reserves and restoring the youth teams, he got rid of some of our best players and replaced them with sub standard quite frankly terrible players. It went wrong there. Appointing Gullit, another wrong decision, had the charisma but not the tactical noose or ability to handle the players around him, like Dogleash brought in some real pap aswell. It went wrong there. Sacking Robson should never have happened, he should have been gracefully moved up to a DOF role months earlier, his input to the club was invaluable, he loved the club, we loved him and he had alot more to give to the club. It went wrong there. Appointing Souness Disciplinarian, the dressing room was full of out of control ego maniacs, Souness was never going to be the right appointment, hated from the start, he neither had the Charisma, Charm or reputation anyone but the boardroom wanted. More money spent, good players out, some bad judgement signings in. He was never the right man for the job more so than Gullit and Dalglish. Completely the wrong decision, but maybe the patsy that would rid the club of the people that the board didnt want at the club. It went wrong there. Roeder being appointed whilst its too early to judge what the outcome will be for Roeder, (the majority can hazard a guess) we had another chance to get the right people in to turn this club around. Roeder like Robson should have been moved upstairs or somewhere else at this club. It went wrong there. Out of them all Keegan Leaving was the only thing wasnt the wrong decision.. but most certainly without a doubt It went wrong there.

Dissapointed Roeder doesnt Fancy Distin. But if we are getting in better defenders fair play, Distin was good for the price and what he would bring, but there are many better players for us out there. Zat Knight and Woodgate, Meh... Glad we arent after Viduka aswell, I think we could do with somoene a couple of years young at least.
-
At this rate we are going to need a song for Nicky Butt when he gets on the pitch! bluebigeek.gif

Dont know, almost fancy Luque could get a start Zog, Pattison, Butt and Milner around him with Martins up front. Then again he would have to start Luque so we can consider ourselves safe from that scenario.

Curbs possibly to be announced as soon as tonight/tmrw morning! mediocre appointment. Even with money i dont see him getting them any higher than pardew would have done. Wont get them into the top 4 IMO. -
Great news, he will play. Unfortunately we will probably go 4-5-1 sit deep and play for the draw, but we will invite the pressure as normal, and will have no chance in coping with it. To be fair what ever we play its going to be lambs to a slaughter.
-
Martins is quicker than Owen ever was and is much stronger and more robust, would be interesting to see who was the better finisher. Certainly Owen is better in the box, but he is older an wiser. What holds Martins back is his decision making, he has to learn to make the right runs and make the right pass. Id say he has the potential to eclipse Owen though. As of now there is no contest who is better though.
-
Isn't that up to the manager? Surely Freddy isn't the one picking the backroom staff we hire. Should be, but its not Roeder that holds the purse strings for the wages. Roeder certainly wanted to go down the DOF route, why he has cooled off that idea i dont know, be it no-one interested/good enough for the job, or the fat man vetoing it who knows?

Mark Hughes, a pathetic display of whinging...
toontownman replied to AyeDubbleYoo's topic in Football
Yeah I had the displeasure of sitting with my Blackburn Supporting mate in the home end though. I was crying in joy each time we scored. The first half was just comical. I shat myself a bit in the second truth be told. But it had just about everything you would want from a game. Bar another 8 Newcastle goals and a performance in the second half. -
I agree, Roeder needs more experience and support around him. Maybe harsh comments on Clark, he is a far cry from the yes men we are used to and many of us have witnessed him flaring up in Roeders face if he thinks something needs to be said during a match. Experience is his flaw. A D.O.F. would ease the pressure but we certainly could do with at least another EXPERIENCED coach.

Well if he brings in Long Ball Lucas Neill I guess someone has to be up there to head the ball down. I hate the long ball, infact i hate goal kicks half the time i swear it would be better to build up, 8/10 Goal kicks give away possesion with us.

Sounds like Emre and Solano might be back for the Carling cup. Will have to see what the scans show up. Might be spoilt for midfield choice by a week weds. Then only a couple games until we can re-enforce
