  1. So this just a straight swap Carew for Baros? or have villa (surely) pocketed money aswell?? Carew will be a decent hold up striker that will score a few goals, certainly not prolific though.
  2. Carew im upset at, Montella not so much. McCarthy is making a few people eat their words aswell.

    David Edgar

Ramage has never been particularly great, although he has been the best of a back for on several occassions last season. His career has been a constant over achievement though, he was never touted as a player that would come through to make the first team and has held on by his finger tips ever since he got his break. Its not suprising now he is playing as our most experienced centre half he is being shown up. I still think he is a decent squad player, he is not going to be the type of player we need at the moment though, but neither is the majority of our defensive options.
  4. What?!... Babayaro is an absolutely aweful defender! And for all we know at this point, Bale could be an even worse one. Ramage, Edger and Hunttington are all better at leftback then Baba so I really don't see how that's possible. Well Edgar and Hunty maybe.. Its swings and roundabouts whether Carr or Baba is worse, neither of them can stay "injury free" long enough to judge.
  5. They are at it again, page on Rossi scoring on his Parma debut! Why not list a series of great players that nearly signed for the club.
  6. Apart from the mighty Christian Hayne!
  7. Absolutely, I hate the way its always punt it down the field most times Given has the ball. But I guess you can hardly rely on anyone thats played on the Left (and for the most part Carr) to collect the ball from given and use it. 9/10 they would give it away and it would be suicidal. Its not a new problem though, it should have been fixed long before Roeder was at the club.
  8. He was also abducted by aliens for several months. FBI refuse to comment on how he has been forced to keep quiet, although talk of memory erasing are said to be wide of the mark. Daily Star.
  9. Doesn't mean to say that the experianced player needs to be at centre half. I think Solano should be given the captains role TBH. He just oozes confidence in tight situations and would have a great influence on the young lads. Both Taylor and Davies have leadership qualities so i doubt either player would need alot of motivation to perform. Point well taken, but im not convinced Solano would be the best bet for organising the back four. One thing that should go for us is the fact we have a manager and assistant manager that were both decent CB's and club captains, although that obviously isnt out there on the pitch its with them every day on the training ground and should be organising them properly to begin with. It will also obviously help when we have a RB and LB that actually give proper protection. Solano will get better as he adjusts into it, combined with the fact he is a very clever footballer anyway.

    Emre

Well if he gets a sizeable ban, we will probably have to sell, that or he will walk as promised. Emre hasnt come close to reaching his potential with us, which is dissapointing, he could be a huge player if we could trigger that though.
  11. Whats the score with Babel? Was this link denied? Quite a few places have run with this story over the last couple of days. Seems a strange one, given he isnt really the type of Striker I would have thought we would or should be after, but if true would only be a good thing, signifying that we didnt just want a big man to hoof the ball up to everytime.
  12. He has the potential, but is much like Bramble at the opposite end of the pitch. Im happy having him as a 4th choice striker. Like HTT said he has done well under Roeder. We need to be buying quality to have the players we already have pushed down the pecking order. Shola will likely never be a 20 goals a season striker let alone more than that, but he will be a decent squad player for us. He has as much chance playing for england as Bramble does.
  13. came from the chronicle didnt it? Davies would be a good bet, Pearson knows him as good as anyone he has played and played well in the premiership. Its not as though he is un-proven. Alot of money though, would also leave us STILL needing an experienced Leader.
  14. Id agree on trying to get Baines or Bridge in preference. Gejon is quite right, although there would be many positives in the signing, it would take but one or two bad performances and the usual wolves would be in on the lamb for an all you can eat career long special. He will have to live with the pressure where ever he goes though.
  15. I think he is pretty carefull with what he says, he has to be. He does talk sense, but like you say for the most part he never says much we dont know or havent heard before. He is right to down play speculation and expectations about transfers and is right that we have to pick exactly the right people. But at the same time I think he is piling more pressure on himself and especially the players he does actually buy. I still rate Roeder as one of the better managers around for talking sense and conducting himself well, although you would be hard pressed to find anyone that does all the time.

    David Edgar

Needs wrapping in cotton wool though, much like Hunty.. they could do with some loan spells in a championship side if we can ever get some better depth and cover in defence to allow that to happen. Ramage has lost the plot this season and needs a rest, we just need more bodies in. Edgar has looked decent so far, but it will damage him if we have to play him too much.
  17. Would be more bothered if Milner, Martins, dyer or Solano got injured tbh. Harper is easily good enough, and im glad he is actually getting a chance.
  18. Would rule us out of bidding, it is a stupidly high amount, but as some people have said its a long term investment. We are looking at a player that can give 10+ years service, is extremely talented, can get better and will increase in value. Certainly as good a prospect as bringing Woodgate in was, and a better proposition than Boum. That said, Id say it was more likely to be Spurs, Villa, West Ham maybe even Pompey that was bidding.

    Collins John

Surley Lee Clark will know about him, first or second hand from Fulham? Im sure we have looked at him. A loan deal would suit us, but I think he is one of the players Roeder thinks potentially we could be lumbered with. To me he looks like a cheap version of Darren Bent, quite similar in style and would fit in ok here, certainly give us decent cover. But if he is as much trouble as has been reported then theres your reason for us not buying him so far. Personally id gamble, but we dont have a clue what he is like and what damage he could create in the dressing room.
  20. Hope the guy manages to break through, although it would seem unlikely given the competition ahead of him.
  21. Would be the new Kluivert. Half the board would have hope the old form and would return and live on the fact "we will get him motivated". The other half would be on his back from the start. That said if he was motivated I wouldnt mind for a year or so.
  22. Tabloids in not telling the truth shocker! It just brings a bit of interest to the day, I bloody hate transfer windows, not as much as the Mrs though.
  23. Geez, knee Jerk reaction mania. OMG we must be selling Taylor and N'Zogbia too!
  24. I got the distinct and disturbing feeling if we are getting him here Roeder doesnt want him to play in midfield.
