  1. Good player a couple of seasons ago, I havent seen much of him since. Wasnt he club captain aswell?
  2. He would cost around the same price as Crouch.. Although Crouch is more of a hold up player than Bent.. but Bent will certainly get you more goals. He is big, strong, powerfull and Pacey but maybe not exactly the type of player we want, he would bring a different element to our attack though. I dont particularly think Crouch is what we really need either. Out of the two I would plum for Bent. The mere thought we could have had either for peanuts a few years ago is cringing though.
  3. Obviously we dont need major signings we just need signings that work. Loan options really arent that bad if they are good enough. Certainly the CB we need to bring in permenantly has to be the right man, a leader, organiser and experienced. Hard to find, so why waste money on Distin or Upson to not live up to the hype. The problem is we need to be planning for both really or as is most likely to happen, we will stick to our targets until the end of the month, at which stage realising we cant get them there is no one left decent enough to loan. Eternal optimist, I do trust Roeder to get in the players we need, but i have been hurt before..
  4. Milner wont be too bothered he can play anywhere across the midfield, and is as good on the left as he is on the right. I dont see us getting SWP's though, it wouldnt be a suprise to see us splash out on another luxury signing though.
  5. Lawro? Well I agree with the first sentance. We might well bid for SWP's on loan but we are not selling Milner, however much they want him to go on to be another young talent wasted at Newcastle.

    Stephen Carr

That and what ohmelads said is what I think of Carr. Though, for some reason, when you read it, you just read "Towelie rates Carr". That's why you're idiots, not because you hate him. ohmelads and I our Idiots? Anyways I have always maintained its motivation thats stopped Carr here, If there really was competition at this club for RB (someone that Roeder wouldnt drop automatically when Carr was "Fit") then you would see a different player. Although he has had good games for us in Europe this season, like him or not.
  7. Out of them all I have seen the most of David Nugent. I really think he would be a good purchase not only for his age, his talented with enormous scope and time for improvement and would happily sit back on the bench and learn when Owen is back. Certainly as good as Ameobi, although the testing time will be when he does actually get to play in the premiership. He is different to the players we already have, although isnt the big strong striker that the majority (myself included) currently crave. His price might be too much though and better buys could be had in numbers for the amount being bandied about.
  8. Tevez looks a talent no doubt, you can see the class, im suprised he hasnt had more time on the pitch. Just shows off the pitch maybe something is wrong as Curbishley is treating him no different to Pardew. Tevez blasted out in the press of his dislike of Pardew and his management, for the wages he is on and the way he has been hyped up it wouldnt suprise me if he believed his hype a bit too much. I cant see either player staying much longer although they may last the season.
  9. You mean linked to us right? I dont think he would be alright, certainly good back up when everyone is back, but if his attitude is as bad as suggested he wont have any part of sitting on the bench.
  10. Shame he could have taken us back the glory days.. Good catch for Rangers... ..oh no wait... Fat Fred will love it though, just goes to show Foreign manager with no idea of the history of the club and the culture of the area yada yada...
  11. Collins John would be a decent signing, quick and strong, not really the kind of hold up striker that we need, more akin to Darren Bent.. but would work with Martins IMO. Not sure he would be content with sitting on the bench when Owen is back though and we will surely sign a bigger stronger hold up player like viduka that would take his place. More likely to end up at Watford where he can be king of the castle.
  12. Baines tongue.gif But Taylor would be right up there. Barry behind although Baines is the only one we could get out of those three even with his ridiculous price tag. Dont particularly rate many of the others that much higher than what we have. If we are getting a LB it has to be a decent one.
  13. My Manure supporting associate says Heinze is in the last year of his contract? Surely thats not true? He says they are going to let him go in the summer. Although i detest the man with a Lee Dixon-esq hate, i think he would be a quality signing, he is a good player if not complete filth. The only problem is why is Ferguson happy to be rid of and refuse to play a world class player? But i guess we could ask Jaap Stam and The Horse about that? I cant see us getting Bale and if we do it will be for a horrendously inflated price that will leave too much expectation on young and inexperienced shoulders..a couple of inevitable mistakes and our loyalist supporters will rip him apart. Matt Taylor would have been immense back when he would have considered coming here. Bids for Baines or Heinze would be at the right time with all the hype around Bale Although there would be better options on the continent if we had some balls to put on the chopping board.
  14. So we are looking to bring in 2/3 new players and on loan. Seems like we are about as close to finding someone as we were after the window last closed. Im sure the budget is likely to be tight, but more than likely we will end up with 2 players at most which will be not nearly enough to get us through. Not least with Luque surely out the door, although he is barely part of the squad anyways. On the flip side until the window slams shut again we can live in the hope that he is sticking to his word by saying a lower number of signings than he actually thinks he will get to lower our expectations.
  15. Whats to say we arent looking to loan him until the end of the season anyway? Seems more likely than actually buying him and would work for all parties..

    Stephen Carr

He has the same injury this time every year. He gets one little knock that bizzarelly takes him out for several months then pops up out of the blue and straight into the side. If we get a decent 1st choice RB im happy to have Carr as back up, he can perform if motivated, the competition would do that IMO, but we shall see. I would be happy to see him leave but he is a Roeder favourite so i cant see it.

    Edgar

its a gradual knock on effect though, if edgar does have a decent future and stays with Canada as im sure he will, others around him will take a look at themselves. Its setting examples..although im sure its going to take more than 3 or 4 david edgars to get that flow moving. Its the biggest and fastest growing urban sport in Canada, its only a matter of time until they start bringing through more players, better players.. ..its just depends how further forward the world of football moves in the time that it takes.
  18. Isnt Tore andre Flo available aswell. We should be looking at someone in the Ducan Ferguson mould but i think him himself is a bit far fetched, would be worse than sibierski when he is playing badly.
  19. Granted he needs to start as many games as possible for us at the moment, but given his age I think Roeder is right to drop him to the bench for some games, especially during the hectic schedule we have had. Hopefully we can bring some new blood in sooner rather than later to counter this. He was excellent, like many others yesterday though.
  20. Would be a great signing. Hardly the area that needs the most attention but we need to bolster our squad and buying better players than we have makes the squad alot stronger. It would be a bit of the kick in the face for Milner, but he is Versatile enough to slot elsewhere into the team..it was only a couple of years ago he was tipped to shine through the middle rather than the wing. Both players are young, and whilst they need games to advance they will also hit rocky patches and burn themselves out like la Zog is going through presently. To compete on three fronts we are going to need a bigger squad with better players. I would be shocked if we did actually manage to sign him though.

    Pierre Boya

well our scouts have obviously seen something they like about him. If he impresses in training then great, if not nothing lost but at least we get the chance to see him up close and the staff can work with him for a while. Dont think anyone can condem us for doing this kind of thing though, its win win. He sounds like an awfull buy, but I was guarenteed by city fans sibbers was the worst signing we could ever make. A different league, style of play, club, better players around him and some confidence can be the magic ingredient for any player. Im just encouraged we are out there looking..

Taylor does it again, another sweet left foot volley! not as far out by a long shot, but still good

    Todays Games

I dont understand why anyone rates Young, he is like Danny mills without the thuggery. I dont think he is even that much better than Carr. Shame for Charlton but at least it means thats one relegation spot that isnt taken by us.
