Well if he brings in Long Ball Lucas Neill I guess someone has to be up there to head the ball down. I hate the long ball, infact i hate goal kicks half the time i swear it would be better to build up, 8/10 Goal kicks give away possesion with us.

Sounds like Emre and Solano might be back for the Carling cup. Will have to see what the scans show up. Might be spoilt for midfield choice by a week weds. Then only a couple games until we can re-enforce

Mark Hughes, a pathetic display of whinging...
toontownman replied to AyeDubbleYoo's topic in Football
excellent news. Hughes obviously starting to feel the pressure now. Seems his mentality is rubbing off on Pedersen though who was also whinging in a similar matter to the lancashire post. Possibly the best football game ive been to in years. -
Cant say im keen. Wouldnt turn the signing down, but i think we can do better for that kind of money. Plus im pretty sure Liverpool wont sell him. We know he can work with Owen, likewise surely with Martins. He can hold up the ball very well, is reasonable in the air and would certainly be close to the type of player we need. He doesnt really have the power, strength and heart I think we need. But he would bring us something, im just not sure what...

Was Thierry Henry famous before he signed for Arsenal?
toontownman replied to Nobby's topic in Football
Certainly remember him and trezerguet before Henry made the jump to Arsenal. He certainly bloomed in to the player he is now in London though. -
Sacking him would be a disgrace. Depending on how the next few months go I am more or less pleased with Roeder, he obviously needs more help though, add pearson and we have seen the difference the extra imput gives. Im prepared to give him until the end of the season, like most I dont think he has the magic to take us where we need, but I guess the ipswich fans said the same when SBR nearly relegated them, and like wise with an early stuttering Alex Ferguson at Manure. Not that im saying Roeder will ever be in the same league as either. But consistency is the key. If anything I would move Roeder upstairs at the end of the season to the DOF job he was made for, his vision is great, he has a love of the club like most of us and is an intelligent man. Its either that or appoint an Experienced DOF that he can turn to if things arent going well. The worrying thing is that more than likely he will make the step up to DOF, but it will be for the prodigal son returning home to make the step up to manager...

Think we would struggle to get Bent for £10m let alone £7m. Depends if Liverpool want to let crouch go or he wants to leave.

Id agree, all he has ever needed is competition, he has been complacent from the get go here, who is going to dislodge him when fit? He has never had competition and he knows he will always start if fit. He is popular amoungst the players for some reason as backup I could cope with him being around and im sure we will see a better player. Like anyone else i will be more than happy to see him leave aswell.

Are we setting a record for the worst threads in a day ever?

Is Parker back for Weds? Sky were saying he was in contention for the blackburn match on friday. Maybe Pattison and Butt on weds?

Has alot to do with the fact we are breeding more confidence, which is partly due to the fact the chances we were creating are going in at the moment and we are having a bit more luck rather than punishment when we mess up at the back. Alot of the team are playing better due to it.

joke, I bet there are a hundered more deserving youngsters in other sports, even if no one has heard of them. He hasnt even had the chance to do anything let alone do it.

Luke young really isnt that much better than Carr. Upson is injury prone and will be stupidly expensive for what he is. Brown and Distin would be good purchases. If we cant get bridge we should be enticing Baines or Matty taylor. Although the latter will never come here after the way we treated Ambrose.
-
Would take brown, wouldnt touch Luke Young.

Got a long way to go yet. really glad for him yesterday, my god is he ever quick its scary. One down point is certainly his positioning, he still needs to learn to make the right runs, he backs off a bit when he should be forging forward into space at times and doesnt attack the penalty box as much as he should when balls are coming in. He is certainly improving though and the goals will help that.
-
At the risk of getting a slap, he played reasonably well yesterday. Made one fantastic challenge half way up the pitch and no one was more visibly delighted when we scored. More of the same for me if he is going to be staying past january.
-
He was almost as bad as Steven Carr yesterday. Why the hell Barcelona, Chelsea, Manure and Liverpool have all been linked with him i will never know. The Blackburn fans are already counting down the days before he goes, he a bully, that fouls and hits the long ball all game. On the up they do say he has an amazing fitness level.
-
Depends on how they have severed his contract and if there are any clauses. If he is un-attached then im sure we are allowed to play him. Might well be a good guy to have around the club as cover, whether he could handle the premiership this late in his career though is debatable.

Ashton would be about the best we could buy from this league, i dont see it happening though. There are loads of Rumours flying round as their would be at this stage of the season. Kevin Davies is on his way aswell if you listen to the rumour mill.
-
Depends very much on Bramble. If we are cutting out losses then we need two CBs in. Distin is a must have for me bramble or no bramble. Curtis Davies would be a great addition alongside him aswell. But unlikely there are alot bigger clubs after him and he wouldnt be cheap. Baines Id actually prefer him to bridge tbh. Although the experience Bridge has would be more beneficial plus we do have a good track record of ruining decent defenders. That aside Baines offers more going forward than Bridge IMO and is younger with more potential. Lucas Neill Would be a very solid addition although we are unlikely to get him, not least due to the fact Roeder actually rates Carr and doesnt want a RB, but also due to the suprisingly big clubs already looking at him. As for the striker situation its a hard call. We certainly need someone in the mould of Viduka, Beattie or Davies role, as good a scratch job as sibbers is doing we need better to compliment our pace and skill. Out of that group I would probably take James Beattie, he still has some years on him and a change would do him a world of good he is as good a finisher as Viduka can be but has more heart. Given the right surroundings and a decent price I wouldnt mind adding him to the team. If we are going for heart a very unlikely target but someone im a growing fan of is Samaras at Man City. Since his debut against us he is always hungry and has a great eye for goal. More than probably not available though or likely to cost as much as the next guy.... Darren Bent- would be a great buy, an upgrade on ameobi strong and a midpoint between what we have and what we need. probably too expensive though and i would blame Glenn for looking on the continent for a player that would bring us just as much if not more for a quarter of the price. Which would bring you to all manner of names, although im sure we will try going for one of our ex targets with Klose even if it is very much an unrequainted love. You cant argue with the positions we need though (RB) LB CB and two strikers.
-
Why risk injured players, especially when it would cause more damage. And what would that say to all the younger players/reserves trying to get into the team if we would rather play players that are injured? Im happy to have Dyer and Parker left out if it means they are 100% for the weekend. We dont have the squad to gamble on injuries at the moment.
-
Tough draw. potential banana skin, but we could have got worse.
-
would be a good signing alongside a Viduka, Beattie, Davies type. Like i said earlier i think he fits in somewhere between what we have and what we need. We are crying out for a bully up front, no-one we have can bully defenders as the likes of Shearer, Ferdinand and Ferguson did. We be delighted if we signed him but for the price he will cost us i think we could do alot better for our needs.

Wonder if we will reignite our unrequainted love for Farfan and Klose in January?
