I'm glad I'm not alone with the commentator being out to lunch! Felt like I just don't understand football anymore..which is still largely true haha Nicely done Alexander!
-
Don't understand the rules anymore lol "He plants his foot on the floor first." Yeah but he then tackles isak who can't get the ball and he doesn't touch the ball.

Juventus also apparently speaking with Todibo and West Ham as an alternative. https://football-italia.net/juventus-start-talks-with-todibo-kelly-veiga/ Seems weird he could go there when on loan to West Ham for the season and they have an obligation to buy lol. Is that transfer even doable? Marseille wanted him too. Pay West Ham to cancel the loan and then agree a fee with Nice??

Interesting read. Need to do your usual hack for paywall or have a subscription to read. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/01/23/man-utd-psr-breach-ticket-prices/

Links to an article (below) Not any new info really, planning to come to us with a loan to buy bid and are hopeful it will happen. Unless he is Tweeting an update from the article. I https://www.calciomercato.com/news/la-juventus-non-si-ferma-a-renato-veiga-nuovo-tentativo-per-lloy-92094

I still retain a deep level of calm post takeover. Doesn't mean I dont get pissed off to the hilt but I think I have that inner peace that even if things go shit we shouldn't get relegated and their is next year and the year after. Not sure that's a great attitude to have Got into but we are still inevitable imo. It's just a slow build. I'd rather we were moving quicker. I expect PIF and everyone associated with the club feels the same. I think we will take the time to do it by the book as best we can and smartly. We have great minds and great backing. I'm still enjoying the ride without that shite Ashley dread that the club is dying and might go under.

Finally some news on the training ground. Looks like we are still at benton for a couple more years though. Women's team and reserves to play at the training ground stadium makes sense. Unless we hit the WSL and move to SJP. Is this conjecture/assumption or did I live under a rock and miss we narrow the stadium options down to these two locations? "although no decision has been taken on who will design the renovation of St James’ Park or a new build on Leazes Park." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-14317755/Newcastle-Confidential-training-ground-transfers.html

He was best as a 10 and central behind Martinez for Atlanta IIRC. We did play him on the left and he did play there for Atlanta at times too. I always though he should have been tried as a 10 more for us.

I think it's a measured approach. Consolidate and push as much as we can this year while bringing players on. Granted if we got up somehow this year, we would likely spend money to try and stay up but it's probably more ideal to have a year building for promotion and a more feasible basis to stay up in the premier league and push on quicker when we get there. Depends how many at the club currently, especially the younger ones, have the ability to be premier league players or have hit their cieling. Another year in the championship could be good for players development.

Which is interesting because the Cherries fans that were on here told us the exact opposite, that he was always ruthless in that regard. I do think he is protective of having a reliable squad that understand his instructions, don't have egos out of control and can do a job. Squad depth is better but still an issue for us. I think he is very cautious, likely overly. Mitchell has to provide replacements, we are looking at younger potential and we know Eddie takes a full year to bed those players in. It's a difficult balancing act.

If we are looking at 30m is that because we fancy someone from Juve in PSR exchange like last summer?
-
If we lose miggy and Kelly and don't get anyone in until the summer lol Still be surprised, if not a touch dissapointed if we sell Kelly this quick. He is a quality, proven player in this league, even if he has had a shakier start to his newastle career. If it avoids PSR issues and we upgrade I am all for selling. He has barely bedded in yet though.

Sven Botman: Out for up to 8 weeks after minor Knee operation (Howe)

Fastest player in Europe fast? Get him while he is cheap -
Can't get back to his best without consistent games. Can't afford to carry a player that contributes nothing to get form/full fitness back. With PSR so prominent and wanting to keep our best players Willock is an immediate collateral damage sale. We won't get what he is potentially worth though and won't bring in a replacement either, so I get Eddie's catch 22.7

A winning run brings confidence, sometimes over confidence with a hint of arrogance. We were so calm from the first whistle to the point of being passive in defence. Maybe a misguided confidence we would get back into any game if we went a goal behind. Bournemouth had us down tactically from the start. The press and closing down wide angles. We had no idea how to break them down and could cared less about closing them down or marking runs. It was an absolute shambles. Congrats to Bournemouth and their fans that traveled. Maybe we had nothing in the tank but it appeared we simply didn't want to risk starting the engine at times. Credit to Tonali and Bruno. Gordon ran his heart out at times too. Overall as passive a performance as we have seen for good while.
-
I get the wait for the summer but can we afford to? Barnes is out for a month. We can probably shoehorn Tino, Willock or Osula there but it's not ideal. Sanusi isn't ready. Harrison doesn't seem to be either. An injury to Gordon or Murphy and we are in trouble..
-
Surely a goer this. Great price if true. Likely 11m all included and who knows how rhe payments might work, which could derail things. 11m is a GREAT price.
-
About right for a loan fee.
-
Yeah but the imminent Jamie Miley to Saudi for 30m should cover that 😉
-
This seems pretty unlikely, although the Fener VP confirming is interesting. Looks like we want to keep Schar a little longer, Krafth is back imminently and Botman doing well at RCB has, in Eddies own words "given us something to think about going forward" and in the market. Maybe we have a different CB target and are happy to let Lloyd go to fund it.

Birmingham City vs. Newcastle United - 08/02/25 @ 17:45 (BBC One)

Certainly could have had a worse draw here. Still fear of the absolute humbling they gave us in the cup years ago remain lol. Hopefully we will have the squad fit and focused enough to ease through this time. -
Not keen on Manure turning a corner. Still fun to see Arsenal rocking hard. Hope it continues.
-
Grew massively into the game, easily MOTM as mentioned. . Not sure the trust is there yet with Howe but he is surely our 4th best option in midfield now. Great to see him playing again. He is massive and so is his potential.
-
Has he earned himself a cameo/sub minutes next game with that goal? Probably not. Still a cracking effort and hopefully a confidence boost, something he looked a bit short of today early on.
-
Miley has grown into this game. Surprised Munda wasn't given a chance today given the noises we have heard this year about him being close to breaking through. Either longstaff or willock are starting to look expandable. However, If we manage to get into Europe we are still a year or two short of having enough home grown players to keep a full squad aren't we? I'd assumed we would keep Longstaff just for the quota. He has suitors though with Everton strongly linked. Someone has to go to appease psr. Still think it's mad if we aren't cashing in on dubs.
