  1. Worth a go, giving them Milner is rubbish tbh, Roeder doesnt want to part with him. I wouldnt mind him here, but looks like we will have to pay out big bucks, Viduka wants to come though, i think if the Euell deal comes off it will be more than a possibility, especially if Viduka does still want to come and makes it known.
  2. Id take Viduka over Hasselbaink for sure. Viduka wouldnt be too bad, we need someone big and strong to hold up the ball, and he has been prolific at doing that. Whether we could motivate him enough we would have to see though.
  3. :winking: you have to aim to be good at something even if it is non-sensical. I do agree with alot of what you said, but comparing Robert and Luque's pace is like comparing Solano to dyer. When we signed him he was all about beating the man and whipping the cross in, and pace he certainly had. He tore Arsenal to shreds when we beat them at Highbury years ago, albeit we were one man up after Ray Parlours dismissal. Maybe im pulling my hair out here, but im pretty sure i have seen Robert take the ball down to the opposite end of the, pitch beat a man whilst dribbling along the touchline ala what N'Zog does now. Ok fine he wasnt as quick the last few years, and certainly he couldnt even pass to our own players have the time, people remember the last few years when he was a shadow of his former self, when he had to rely on a shots from stupid distances or free kicks. He changed his game considerably in his time with us, he was much better all round earlier on in his Newcastle career. I just dont think they are similar players, not as you would have it anyways. In spain Luque was a completely different player, and at times he has held up the ball for us fine, he is much stronger than Robert, he is bigger and when he knows what the hell he is doing you can see that. Luque needs space to play and is certainly used to it in spain, Robert could make his own spaces, he played well with a long ball and could control is suberbly, Luque needs the ball played to feet more than not. I heartily agree. That said it was offered only as my opinion, and it was me on a high horse,in quick tempered scoff, of course there are some similarities. Off the pitch and personality wise they are completely different, Roeder has not had anything but praise for his work ethic, Robert was the opposite, Luque was a panic buy and certainly not first choice like Robert was. I wasnt bringing in anything into consideration other than on the pitch though. I just thought some of the things that were being written were alot different to how i percieved Robert the footballer to be whilst playing for us, especially compared to Luque. Of course they have similarities some of the admitted gash facts show that, we could get down to Dads middle names if we had to, I just think they are less similar than they are the same type of player.
  4. there is some complete tosh being written here, well thats my opinion anyways. Luque and Robert are NOTHING like each other. Roberts game was based around his pace (which initially made him such a hit here) and his Crosses and Flair, the set pieces came later and put him in a league with Ginola and even above Solano IMO. Luque doesnt have pace, certainly not half as much as Robert, isnt a dribbler of the ball like Robert was and has basically a completely different game. Sure Luque looks lethargic, obviously Robert was at times towards the end of his Newcastle career, but i would take a Robert on top of his game over Luque any day. Robert undid himself though, under Souness we did actually see the most rounded Robert i think there has ever been, but alas it couldnt last, due to both idiot parties acting like childeren, it was best both went, and Robert has lost the plot further since leaving. Robert was less interested and to an extend clueless tracking back, but anything going forward there was a different player involved. Luque has just looked lost, although he tries hard all over the pitch, he just hasnt settled anywhere, he isnt lazy he just doesnt seem to know what he is doing, and often reverts to going deep, where we have seen the best of him. Luque is more about power (whilst we havent seen it), strength and skill rather than pace, flair and dribbling. Luque does look better playing deeper though from what i have seen of him. He does have a good cross on him though and he is left footed, he has played in a spanish league too so they do have a few things in common.
  5. Yeah, i had hoped we wouldnt be banging the ball hit and hope style so much, which was a bit distressing. An amazing 20 mins by Luques standard in a newcastle shirt maybe. He didnt see enough of the ball, jumped for alot in the air which was nice to see, but lets not get too over joyed that our little pet project has managed to do what is essential to what we demand from every player. He needs more time though on the pitch and certainly a hell of alot better service. We looked alot better going forward with Butt of the pitch but we were barely in control of the game.
  6. For the most part i think the wet grass carried him alot harder and faster than he would have liked it to.
  7. The problem is he isnt an out and out centre forward, every time he has come on he has looked best when coming and playing from deep. He as also looked good crossing balls into the box. He might be good behind the main striker but i dont think he is the target man we are looking for and whilst we have Duff and N'Zogbia playing better than him he isnt going to break through to the team on the Left Wing. He worked hard today but didnt see enough of the ball. I would have preffered to see Roeder play 4-4-2 with Luque behind Ameobi, but Roeder didnt fancy it, and its paid off, we certainly looked the better when Butt was on.

    Hitzfeld

Being unveiled on Friday with Ronaldo tbh.
  9. I think Luque is finally starting to pull himself together, someo of his play this past Saturday was fantastic, he looks alot hungrier and fitter, he has also made all the noises about staying and the club has made a minor fuss about him getting the Number 7 shirt, i really dont see him leaving, at least until christmas. He will thrive in the Uefa cup and hopefully in the premiership aswell, we are seeing more and more of his talent, like i said some of his skill on Saturday was blinding. That said we cant really rule out anyone leaving, Woodgate showed us that.
  10. Was obviously what you meant to say. :winking: Im not sure which way it will go with Luque to be honest, he seems intent on staying, Nobby has backed him and Roeder has said he needs to take his oppurtunity. Id rather keep him and get his confidence back, he is a quality player but the injury and the premiership has knocked him flat on his arse and he is struggling, like Roeder says the club can only do so much for a player, the rest he has to do for himself. It wouldnt suprise me to see him offloaded, but it wouldnt also suprise me to see him still here for the season at least. I hope its the latter because we need to have quality strength in depth and if he does come good we will have a fantastic player on our books. Whether we can afford to keep him on those wages is another matter.
  11. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php/topic,25338.0.html And still no.. comes under the Mido/Anelka categorie but with alot less talent.
  12. Dont see the point if he was to come out of England retirment, he wont ever get back in the squad.. shouldnt do, Nolan, Parker, even Bullard are before him now. I cant see him re-capturing his old form, even if he did he would have to be untouchable by the above names, not really going to happen (bar Bullard) Would be embarrasing, keep some pride, keep schtum.
  13. come on Roeder has clearly gone up luque in the middle of training with everyone there saying.. "can i have your number 7 shirt back please we are giving it to Damien...whats that you dont like it? do me ten laps" luque: "But i will get blisters" Roeder: (mimicking in a girly voice) "But i will get blisters.. are you still here?" Obviously why Luque wasnt playing, and decided to sulk instead, my source tells me as soon as he got home he ran up the stairs stamping his feet and has locked himself in his bedroom, its been several hours.."

    Bobby Zamora?

Rate Ameobi higher but he is miles better than Chopra.
  16. Can SWP play down the Left?? A loan move for Anelka and Sign Defoe, a left back and Malbranque/CB or a DM.. would do me for 5 players.
  17. He just needed another target man next to him IMO. He was working wide like Shearer did when playing alongside Ferdinand, sent some good balls in. His hold up play wasnt great. Could see him working well alongside Viduka for some strange reason. In the first half i thought he was like Bellamy without the pace, sticking wide and hassling alot. not a £12m player this world cup though. We will have to see if we can get him for less, would certainly take him though, he has heart and determination, whilst he might not have the skills to get defenders knickers in a twist he has power and will play for the shirt. Kuyt, Defoe and Viduka on the cheap would be fantastic.
  18. And hopefully the West Ham board might have learnt from their mistakes and might give Alan Pardew the money he needs..or i wouldnt be suprised to see West Ham go exactly the same was as last time. The difference between both Roeders past records and Pearce at city, is that the quality of players he now has at his disposal are probably better than both teams. And he will have more money to spend and be able to attract better players than either. I dont think many fans would argue David James was worth every penny, Roeders record buying players was neither great or woefull imo, considering the type of players he could attract and the funds he could have down worse, they just let him and the team down. Mistakes are painfull but you learn from them. Roeders record is there for everyone to see, but he is an intelligent man who has spent a while out of the game studying, with the right coaches around him..and maybe a mentor..i dont see any reason for him to fail.
  19. Emerton spotted in greggs this morning..
  20. I wouldnt mind Boa morte and Barry should we sell luque. LBM is just as effective playing up front..and is very quick..so can cover Zog and upfront, whilst barry can do just about anything else.
  21. I dont think he contributes to the game enough when he is on. He has a great finish and playing deep he can certainly spray a good ball around.. he and emre did that well when they came on at the humping at man city. The problem is bar his finishing Chopra has looked better. He doesnt have any match fitness granted.. and he hasnt been given much chance, thats something we just have to trust roeder and our staff on. I will be happy if he stays, but i wont be crying if we get good money for him in the summer.. if its money we are after that means we can strengthen with players that will give more to the side, then i dont mind him leaving. put yourself in Roeders position... big bids come in this summer for him means money to buy a LB and RB maybe more freeing up wages.. or you risk him for next season.. he might do well or he might flop again and we flog him for next to nothing at christmas. There isnt anyone that wants him to fail here..we all hope he comes good.. but whats best for the club.. the gamble or the money for rebuilding? We have to trust Roeder with that decision.
  22. Think the answer to your question is still Howard Kendall
