Feels like he might be one of those players that I feel the need to defend even through poor form, for no apparent reason. Went through a phase like that with defending Jenas during his average last season. "Yeah he wasn't that bad, decent game" Even when playing complete dogshit.

Anybody else notice this having a huge effect now? Was in Cardiff the other week and they were showing 'Novasports' in the hotel bar I was staying in.. Based in Bristol at the moment, and tons of local bars are now showing 3pm kick offs on Novasports around town even advertising Watch live football on 'Novasports' here. Will surely have a big effect on the TV money involved with the leagues + attendances in the coming months/years?

My guess would be Pardews trying to establish a rule by where players aren't automatically displacing other players on good form just because of their reputation.. Keeps the players in the team playing well knowing that a dip in form could see them benched... we'll soon find out if there's any truth to this come the next game, should be a straight swap with Raylor and his shirt to lose, hopefully!
