Burn and Botman are LCBs and left-footed mate. Tarkowski is right footed and I’m assuming he’s a RCB? Howe massively prefers having a left footed and right footed CB to play those positions.

Dan Burn is a good player and all, but really shows you the lack of ball-playing ability in the squad (Lascelles, Clark, Fede, Dummett) when the Athletic is lauding Burn as one in that article. Burn is comfortable on the ball, but hardly a ball-player like Schar (and Lejeune before him).

FYI, I like the Botman deal for many reasons (hopefully it happens) but he's clearly been identified by the team as the top CB target and they've done their homework on him. I trust the club did their homework on him. I also respect they didnt go back in for Diego Carlos and have other players in mind if Botman doesn't happen.

Botman had his first call up in November 2020 -- and i think has played more for the U21 setup but also it sounds like that is by design?

Think De Ligt, Virgil, De Vrij, Ake have been considered ahead of him recently of course. Add in Timber too. Have to assume Botman would be considered sooner than later. He's really only came on the last 2 seasons no? Van Gaal name checked Botman as someone he wanted to play for the U21s to gain experience and move on up.

The market value thing is bullshit. If it’s applying to related parties to ownership then they need to come up with a proper parameter for it. It doesn’t make an ounce of sense unless it’s strictly based on type of company ie - tyre or airline company’s have X range. Sponsors can be within that range or x% above in year 1 and have some type of cap or yoy growth cap. If it’s based on club size or position that is extremely prohibitive of market growth and further the aspirations, or strategy of a company. Most importantly the PL itself is really the market and if a company decides to break the ceiling to get market presence or exposure that is up to them.
