  1. Found that article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/10004456/Montpellier-coach-Rene-Girard-wants-move-to-a-Premier-League-club-after-discussions-with-Arsene-Wenger.html Good article, I get the feeling he'd be absolutely perfect for this club's recruitment policy given his former position as manager of the U-16, U-19, and U-21's in France and his emphasis on youth. I'd imagine he'd work wonders with some of the young French players we're scouting. Seems an intelligent football man vs. some of the shit our current guy spews.
  2. the sly b****** knows what he's doing Gerard misses Mapou, clearly. From wiki after winning the title: "I think our triumph is a real shot in the arm for French football. "It just goes to show that everyone can beat everyone and that money isn't the be-all and end-all. We're a club of mates, a club that brings young players through and gives them a chance. "At the end of the day, it's worked out well for us. We played some great football, with a well-balanced team and I'm overwhelmed." Awesome quote that. I've watched Mapou play quite a bit over there and sadly only paid attention to him like 100% of the time. Is Rene a good manager in terms of his style of football etc?
  3. I'm assuming Ameritoon just added me? Sem, is the vetting complete?
  4. Hope its in Philly so we can raid the Semtex compound and have a legendary old time.
  5. I surely hope so. There's a pretty strong contingent of Toon fans in the States, think they'd do well with a preseason tour here. Wasn't the last preseason over here a total disaster? I hope we think about what's best for the squad rather than following the money. If by disaster you mean we eventually finished 5th, then sure.
  6. Sifu answered it for me then. Johnson and Colback have claimed to be supporters of ours? I thought I read/heard but didn't know for sure.
  7. Mont or Rudi Garcia for me.

  9. - Danny Graham used to have so much anti-Sunderland crap in the press too, no? - Have the others ever said anything in our favor? Just curious. Or have they always been Smog/Mackems for life.

I would've said it was virtually impossible a couple of weeks ago but you've got to think at some point they'll figure out that he's not getting the most out of Ashley's investment. Player values will have dropped compared to last season too. You just can't sustain the 'model' under these circumstances. Yep. The "model" probably also includes player and club value increasing. The players aren't performing, therefore their valuations are decreasing and the position our club is in at the moment in the table is harming value. He's a business man and he'll see that 100%. Now if he continues to think only like a strict businessman he'll then weigh the options of the cost of sacking AP and his backroom team vs. the cost of what another season of having to buy hims players to help him out of trouble and/or the decreasing values of purple players who were supposed/could have been moved on for a hefty profit that have digressed under AP's stewardship.
  11. I'd watch more French league too as we'd get a pulse on the type of players we're scouting. Fox's graphics/studio packages were always shit on the main network and they basically treated the studio team like outcasts man. All the marketing was shit and I always felt like it was poorly done. Hell, the Fox Soccer Report used to be shit and it somehow over-time has gotten worse Their studios are awful.
  12. I'm assuming the "non-NBC" commentators will be the same we are used to, as they'll still have the same official telecast from the ground and have whichever commentator it is....I assume Arlo will only do the NBC main match when they send him on-site, expect it to be your top 6 teams/match of the week type fixture.
  13. Its still loads better than Fox b/c we'll have access to every match without having to pay for an extra channel (FS+) or the online app (FS 2Go). However its nice to see that those of us with NBC Sports will get that Extra Time channel with a loads more of games to have on TV too. Regardless, major improvement. Hopefully we get to enjoy it next season (we stay up).

    MLS

Good news for Orlando, hopefully this happens for us. Would be massive for the city. Orlando City already has a great following - if they were to join the MLS would be really awesome. ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer talked with Channel 9, telling Greg Warmoth the exact location for the proposed $110 million Major League Soccer stadium. Dyer told Channel 9 where the stadium would be built, how it will be paid for and why he signed off on a multi-million dollar land purchase. The two blocks where the stadium will be located are bordered by Central Boulevard, Church Street, Terry and Parramore avenues. "I can tell you with certainty that is where we would like to construct the stadium," said Dyer. "It makes sense." The Citrus Bowl will sit only a few blocks away, as well as the Amway Center and the downtown Performing Arts Center. "That's the perfect location," said Dyer. "We have the parking already associated with the other facilities in the downtown area." Records show the land wasn't cheap. It was purchased for $8.2 million, more than four times its value, according to the property appraiser's website. The mayor, however, said he didn't overpay. "It's all within the appraisals," said Dyer. If built, Orlando City Soccer will pay $80 million to $100 million. Orlando is providing the land, and the county may kick in tourist development tax, which is a tough sell for at least one Orange County commissioner. "I can't see any reason that I will change my position," said County Commissioner Fred Brummer. "The more I read, the more I see, the more, 'No,' I become." Dyer is hoping other commissioners, lawmakers and MLS will agree the site is worth his $8.2 million gamble. Currently, Major League Baseball, NFL, NBA and NHL teams can get funding help from the state for new stadiums. The Florida legislature is set to decide during whether MLS also qualifies. If Dyer's plan works, a new MLS team and a new stadium could be awarded by December. http://www.wftv.com/news/news/local/dyer-opens-about-land-purchase-new-mls-stadium/nXPb3/
  15. So from was potentially shit Chelsea kits, they turn out to look pretty great.
  16. Toon's Taylor needs a few days away from all of this man. The weekend has bled over to numerous threads all over this forum and it's not doing him any favors picking battles with a ton of people all over. Ian is a top poster who is part of a group of individuals who make this forum what it is in terms of the different viewpoints brought to the table.
  17. Good point - Would we better off playing Perch or Anita then?

Poor guy. Gutted for him. Really like him a ton. Safety in PL and end this season man. We can't get a break with these injuries. Horror show of luck.
  21. If NBC handles the PL like ESPN handles the NFL on Sundays, I'd be over the moon. Can go hours watching the various pre-game and post-game shows and Sportscenter. Holy shit - I'll have 2 opportunities for my usual Sunday setup. During NFL season, my main TV carries the Bucs game or whatever the best game is when the Bucs aren't playing. I then move my bedroom TV, into the living room on a side table thanks to the U-Verse wireless box. Add this Redzone style PL channel (if it happens) and I'll have the setup 2x a weekend. Good lord thats amazing.
