I'll be surprised if he gets a move, from all accounts he is the highest paid English player in the league, not sure he will get that level of pay anywhere else at the moment, apart from maybe Chelsea.
-
PS. Why does the alternative to Martins have to be Anelka? Plenty of other strikers out there surely?
-
I'll get shot down here, but for £9/10m, I would have expected more from Martins in terms of overall ability, first touch, reading of the game, ability to make intelligent runs and general awareness of what is going on around him. If we had paid £3m for him then I might overlook/accept some of the glaring issues he has with his game but I seriously question whether he will ever get that all round game that one should expect for paying the sum of money we did. However, I'll be honest, if a bid of say £12m came in for Oba and a bid of £12m+ came in for Owen - I'd get shot of both and get a couple/three strikers in that 1. Will have the all round ability to score and also make goals and 2. Will be reliable and not be on the treatment table for half the season and 3. Make Newcastle their priority, not England. I'll keep dreaming then......

NUFC are re-securitising the stadium and future ticket sales which is to release a significant amount of cash. The last time they did this was when they bought Shearer and according to the person I talked to, there is to be a large amount of funds to be made available to the manager, more than has been available in the last few years.

I've read some sh*te on here before but that takes the biscuit. Titus Bramble has let this club down time and time again with his inept concentration levels. He has had chance after chance to improve and sort himself out and he has failed to do so. The fact that you think he would walk into our team says more about the quality of the players around him rather than the quality of Bramble. He doesn't lack the mental capacity under certain management styles, what a load of b*llocks - he has played under a number of different managers and consistently made mistakes - being gifted for 88 minutes in a game counts for nothing if he lets a howler go and it costs us the game. I applaud whoever made the decision to get rid of Bramble, hopefully it spells a new attitude in the club that says we won't accept medicority because for all the talent in the world, without concentration he is without a shadow of a doubt one fo the most medicore defenders in the league!

:-[ Unbelievable. Give the bloke a chance. He should of made it clear in the press conference keeping Michael Owen and building a team around him was something important to him comments of "its not all about Michael Owen" and "i will be asking him if he wants to stay or go" are not good enough for god sake Sam don't lose a World Class player before you have even had the chance to work with one. Firstly, thats the f****** Sun, get a grip. Secondly, it is important for us to have good players, naturally, but lets not pretend its "X player at any cost", cos thats bollocks. If Owen wants to stay and give it a go, fantastic, he's a top player. If not, fair do's get rid, and look to the future. Michael Owen is not the only striker in the world who will get us 15+ league goals a season. Thirdly, Allardyce is goign to have to make a lot of decisions and see the back of a fair few players now, at Christmas and next summer. A lot of the so-called first team will have to be replaced, and if that has to include Owen, then at least Allardyce has been shown to know a decent footballer from a hole in his arse, and we have to trust him (until he proves otherwise, although hopefully he won't) in that he will get the players we need. I'm genuinely buzzzing about NUFC for the first time in years. Maybe I'm niave but that press conference has bouyed my spirits, said exactly what I hoped he would say. Bring it on!

Ericksson? Again, to be honest I'm not sure, he was truly dreadful with England and his achievments before that were either a long time ago or helped by a lot of money. Though as I said, I don't think we are in a position where the choice will be vast. I don't envy Shepherd, the mistakes he has made over the last 2/3 years are coming back to haunt him and made his next decision a very difficult one.

In an ideal world: Carr Babayaro Bramble Gooch Ramage Emre Parker Dyer Ameobi Sibierski
-
I'm less than convinced that Big Sam is the man for the job but guess we need to be realistic, we are kidding oursleves if the likes of Hiddink etc will be interested. Its a shame but Allardyce may be the best we can hope for.
-
Thats just plain nasty!
-
The longer this goes on, the more worried I am that Roeder won't be sacked.
-
Just hope Shepherd doesn't do anything stupid like get in Steve Bruce! He's juts been on skysports news spouting the usual sh*te about being a geordie!
-
Its amazing that you still have to repeat this, its been blindingly obvious for years but some folk just won't open their eyes!
-
Clever pre-pack by Bates - effectively the new owner now.
-
Yeah, none of it is due to him not being very good at football. You're clueless if you think Luque's performances in a black and white shirt are an accurate reflection of his ability. And you're pretty clueless if you think it matters how much talent he has if his attitude stinks so much the heap of cack isn't professional enough to do his job at Newcastle United. For whatever reason. If he does well at PSV it's yet another sign (as if any was needed) that he's a spineless tosser. Spot on
-
No chance am I staying, they owe me about 20 wasted afternoons/evenings the b*stards!
-
Its so f*cking predictable - Shepherd will give Roeder a chunk of cash, Roeder will spend it then f*ck up the start of the season, get sacked a few games in and we willl be back to square one, floundering around trying to get a manager with little options by then.

Lampard - how the hell he has ben accomodated at the expense of Gerrard in the England team for all these years bemuses me.
-
Good player, not a defensive midfielder by any stretch of the imagination but a really classy passer, somebody who I would love as we haven't had a really classy central midfielder of that ability since probably Rob Lee. Should blossom when Scholes gives up as it will give Carrick the more forward, creative role. Mind you, big boots to fill, Scholes is the finest central attacking midfielder I have seen in England ever.
-
He's definetely carrying an injury
-
I like Barton as a player but don't want him here, he's Bellamy on drugs, got a behavioural problem that we don't need.
-
Surely, Kieron "I'm a striker, honest guv" Dyer has to be the worst striker buy ever?
-
Quite incredible bullsh*t - vital aspects? Like having to pass, tackle and shoot?
