  1. Shearer would be inexperienced. Hughes has achieved more in football than Big Al as well. Winning the FA Cup 4 teams, the Premiership twice and 2 European Trophies. He's also won more international caps than Big Al. He's done alot in the game. As for Keegan, the mans a nervous loser.
  2. I don't think he needs to hit the ground running at all. He'd make it to next season barring a huge relegation struggle. That's a good 4/5 months to get comfortable without loads of pressure. We've missed the European boat already. From there he'll take off.
  3. Howay man, what you wrote is mostly BS. 1.Although our fans love Big Al he's hardly Will Smith in the charisma stakes is he? Houllier is hardly Mr. Charisma either. Hughes is no more dull than Sven who has gone from zero to hero on this board within 6 months. If he wins a trophy for us he won't need the charisma to "wooo the fans". 2. You seem to have forgotten that Blackburn where in the relegation zone when we hired Souness and looked very shit in the process. They weren't 8th halfway through the season and had been on the slide for 2 or so years. Least you forget last season they finished in the top 6 and were narrowly beaten in the FA Cup Semi-Finals by eventual winner Chelsea, beating Arsenal on the way. When was he being tipped for the sack? Stop making shit up. 3.Your last point is complete bullshit. Souness fell out with Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke amongst others in his time at Blackburn. Players openly criticised him when they left. Once again your talking bollocks. No player has ever had a bad word to say against Hughes. Hughes was also a very gifted footballer, he's no dummy and has won more in his career than Big Al, playing for bigger clubs in the process. Benny McCarthy (UEFA Cup/CL winner?) & Santa Cruz have won more trophies than any of our players in the last 5 years and both are hardly on their last legs like the successful players at Newcastle (Owen, Duff & Butt). Our "star" players are very dispensable. Bellamy is more trouble than any of our players and Bells loves Hughes. I can understand peoples reservations about Hughes but posts like toontownman are complete bollocks.
  4. Aye that part is true. Blackburn play some good stuff and some very good stuff when they had Bellamy and Pongolle upfront but when he first went to Blackburn he made them some hard as nails fuckrs.
  5. Excellent article. You think if the second tier managers achieved great success they wouldn't move to a top, top club? Wouldn't mind if he pissed off to Manure because that would mean we were successful. I'm an idealist, i hope our success will include us no longer being classed as second tier Aye, but he's a Manc through and through though.

  7. Cant see him leaving there. Settled in the North West ready and waiting for the Man U job when it comes up. Plus, doing good steady, if unspectacular, job at Blackburn. dont think he is that stupid or arrogant to leave to come here Why would Man Utd. appoint him? He needs another stepping stone. bringing home a trophy or 2 & getting us in the CL would be better.
  8. Watch Bentley take home the points for Blackburn.
  9. every two years. This is what bugs me. It should be 4 years. Why? Make it more prestigious. An African player can realistically take part in 6 ANC's whilst he could only play in the world cup 3 times. Ya I do... You're right btw. I think its just because theyre all as big and as fast as each other compared to how theyre usually streets ahead physically of the europeans they play against week in week out. And the technical levels arent great in the main. lol, I don't think this is true. I just think alot of the better teams look totally disjointed and often look like they don't care. Nigeria, Ghana and the Ivory Coast all have some very good players, yet they all play s*** in the ANC. Egypt won it last time didn't they? Their players are sheiiiiittttt. I think that African powerhouses (Nigeria, Ivory Coast rtc) playing s**** has a lot more to do with the manager. Only poor managers unwanted by European clubs and other big countries will manage African nations. But worse teams do better. They must have worse managers. Ghana and Ivory Coast looked really impressive in the WC but were shit in the last ANC. i reckon alot of the players can't be arsed or something.

  12. AZ is actually pretty rich club with high ambitions, I heard that they were really close to signing Afonso Alves with very high fee, but he wants to join some Premiership club. In comparison to other Dutch clubs AZ is pretty rich, but they are practically out of the running to win this year´s title and they´re already out of Europe, so it will be another one and a half year at least until he wins a major trophy with them. He may well feel the wheels have come off and could be tempted by another challenge, especially one involving a better competition (although he doesn´t normally speak highly of English football in interviews) and significantly more money. So he'd doing kinda s***, so we should bring him in off reputation.... Is that the way you would feel about Mourinho too? Mourinho was undermined at Chelsea and his relationship with Abramovich was unberable. Never lost a league game at home in the 2 seasons he was there. So no I wouldn't. Don't try and put words in my mouth. No I wasn't overly impressed, they got knocked out the night round anyway. Well, fair do's, but I thought his tactics were excellent against us, and he won the mental battle that night, showing himself to be in a different class to the gutless but niceguy Roeder. AZ are struggling right now, but is it fair to judge him on his current team considering his proven calibre? Didn't many of us similarly think Svenn was s*** based on his tactics and philosophy with England? Was Sir Alex's "s*** and sliding" ManU side a fair reflection on his ability a few years ago, when everyone was saying he was finished? He's a CL winning manager. There arent many of them around, and they tend to be very good at their jobs - nobody's fool. They do fail sometimes, they do go through peaks and troughs in terms of success, but they normally bounce back at some point or another. The closest we've had in recent times was Sir Bobby, a Cup Winner's Cup winning manager. Maybe Hughes is a good manager in waiting, but I dont think its fair on others who want Van Gaal to say hes wanted just because hes a foreigner. Hes proven his class. Some good points regarding Sven. It is my belief still that in big games, Sven's negative tactics will unravel Man City but his moves in the transfer markets have been brilliant and he's got Man City playing carpet football. However we are weak defensively (even though we've got some good defenders), seems more than stupid to hire a manager whose team are very weak defensively as well. I suppose Blackburn have been thumped a few times as well but AZ really don't impress me at all. You talk about peaks and troughs but Man United have never finished below 4th (or even 3rd) for a long, looooong time. His tactics against us also wasn't that impressive. It just seemed like he indentified that one young lad who played at right back and decided to rape him. That's all I remember of that.
  13. Every time I mentioned Anelka half this board in its wisdom didn't want him and dragged out the old patter about 'Le Sulk' etc Shocking. True. I remember when he went to galatasary and Bolton alot of people here didn't want him. Now he's hot, there all on him. Aye, that was funny.
  14. I think we are right to be sentimental when you call finishing 5th "decent".
  15. No, that would be Fat Sam.
  16. Nah it's okay because the "net" value of their transfers is £0. So it wasn't a waste of money and Sam should've been given more...

  19. Which players do you mean? Easier if he says which players he doesn't mean. Aye, Beye, faye and perhaps Enrique. the rest have rarely showed glimpses of anything other than total bullshit.
  20. Aye Zog fucked up but the pass wasn't devastatingly bad, Smith just got out muscled and out paced
  21. Some people claim Owen is an exceptional case too though, which is kind of my point. He ain't, not these days. Wullie once again with the powerful posting. Whenever Oba missed a good chance people on here would be like "Owen would've scored that".. he turned into Mr. Clinical Finisher
