  1. He was playing in the PL 11 years ago. Neville himself has said he's more interested in footballing administration these days than the actual football. His takes are bound to be lazy if he's not watching what's in front of him.
  2. By "hold up" I mean, "keep attacking momentum" and retaining possession when the ball gets to the striker in deeper positions. Chris Wood doesn't do that at all for example.
  3. I agree. This came up in the Isak or Wilson thread. He's better at holding it up and linking with others, than Isak & Wood. He's not Harry Kane but he's better at it than he's given credit for.
  4. Is the other lad also of South Sudanese heritage ?
  5. When will he leave us alone? 4 league titles in 5 years. If they lose this season, i'll put £500 that they win the next. I need a break.
  6. Not a case of price - City don't often get bumped for price these days(JG obvsious exception). But it's guaranteed trophy and England place.
  7. I think he'll get a ban regardless if he's gambled. Like a big fine and a 3 match ban. If he's gambled on games he's been involved in, his ban will be at least a year - probably several. And he'll need to move abroad.
  8. Fair. I don't think he's an extremist coach that can't get his tactics over at INTNL football well the way Pep might struggle. I also don't think he has any short-term ambition at doing that job. Even if he fails at Chelsea, an Aston Villa or West Ham type job would take him and that's a more exciting role for a young manager. It's where you go after Everton that's difficult. We used to be a managerial graveyard like them.
  9. I think Potter is a fairly flexible coach. He's not like Pep where he has such a particular style only 10% of quality players would fit into his systems without some major changes in style. There aren't many recent examples of good managers failing at international football because their systems have been too complex to implement at international level. I think the 2 best sides at Euro 2020 - Spain & Italy, were also the best coached and had the managers with the best club CVs.
  10. Trippier's ban was so short because they wanted him to play in some crucial games for England iirc. It's all FA type bans iirc. Could be totally wrong.
  11. Any evidence he’s gambled on matches he’s been involved in? His time in England may be done if he has.
  12. Don't agree. Isak is looking to run his man or get in behind. Wilson against Arsenal for example - bullied the CB's. Held it up. Linked players in. There was one moment where Ben White was closing down a loose ball and Wilson sprinted in, got in ahead of White and won a foul at the edge of the box. On the weekend when he gets the ball, starts running nowhere and eventually buys the foul. Like Wilson's a wiley striker in every way. Isak plays like he's used to playing with another striker uptop. Someone else does more of the dirty work. A bit innocent. He can get the ball a bit deeper, carry it. Ball bounces off him when you would like him to hold it up against CB's. Aye. Yep. Against Liverpool he was able to get in behind a lot. Yep. And when he gets on the ball, it's often deeper and a little wider. Wilson gets the ball CF up against CB's. Wilson's a bit dirty. Plays like he's come through the divisions.
  13. From the little i've seen, Wilson has better "box instincts" and movement in the box. Isak seems more a channel runner, not one to hold it up and link up just yet. Wilson is pretty decent at that.
  14. Yes. The Cristiano Ronaldo fans. Those are the only people he wants to look good for.
  15. I don't think he cares that much about fans of football clubs. He cares about his own fans.
  16. Not to say he can't do it. It's that he hasn't and it's a new thing for him from a defensive perspective that involves a lot more running. I think eventually when we have the ball more - that role would be easier for a player like Isak. At the moment, those wide forwards have to do A LOT of defensive work.
  17. There's pressing the GK and CB's and blocking passing lanes into midfield. And then there's running back with the fullback by our defensive corner flag and not being done by basic 1-2's. It's an entirely different thing.
  18. I’ve no doubt he can do the attacking side of a wide attacker role. But chasing fullbacks? That’s a whole new challenge.
  19. Maybe so. But they still have Smith-Rowe, Vieira, Nketia, Marquinhos in reserve and they are in the market for another attacker.
  20. I mean.. we are still playing Jacob Murphy. A couple big differences between us and the likes of Arsenal. The bottom of their squad has quality youth products like Nelson and middle of thrit squad high-potential youngsters like Vieira and Marqinhos - even the likes of Lokonga.
  21. From what i've seen. When they've been good he's been key. When they've not been good.. well he looks like an attacker playing in CM or DM along with all the weaknesses.
