  1. Bramble had it all physically and technically imo. But he would drop semi ricks that would make the whole team nervous and unstable frequently. Those were better than the times he would be imperious and then just throw one in the back of the net.
  2. This is Pardew-esque. He’s done well to keep morale high but boy are we getting the rub of the green. This season will be enough to get him another PL job when we get relegated next season.
  3. If he’s smart he’ll string the club along all spring then decide what he wants to do in the summer. This club is going nowhere fast. If we are still in the PL it’s worth staying awhile as we won’t pay for more first team CMs than needed.
  4. Just goes to show that that the best signing you can make is a top manager. We rarely played Sissoko and Wijnaldum in central midfield, mostly playing Anita and Colback. Throw in very poor GK and CBs & SMC we were bound for the drop. I think Bruce would’ve went down with more of a fight.
  5. Loads of times he's not busting a gut to get onto balls. That should be the minimum requirement. That’s partially down to confidence. When players are bereft of confidence they often stop making the right runs, chances dry up. Not to mention he’s not a natural striker anyway. He doesn’t have great movement.
  6. I question those that want to stay. They are the type to just want to maintain a PL-ish wage
  7. He won Real Madrid's first CL in years like Won league titles in France and Germany. Took each team to the QF's. Won the CL too. Managers get to a certain age, maybe not at the pinnacle and get entirely written off.
  8. I don’t think Ancelotti is a great fit for Everton. A big bunch of superstars with big egos, Ancelotti knows how to make it work and keep everyone sweet. Mid table teams I honestly think Rafa would be better. But let’s see.
  9. That's essentially what clubs would pay for one average PL player. As a manager, Rafa is about as close to a sure thing as you can get. £20m is a bargain! Players usually have sell-on value. Managers are usually sacked and then given the contract sum. So it is really expensive.
  10. No confidence... not showing any ability atm... needs a break..
  11. Nah Arsenal are shit and the fans are turning away
  12. This is the opposite of what’s coming out. Poch’s Never been very friendly with players and demands a lot from them. Double training sessions. Press in matches. They stopped responding. Some got old. Tired of the same message. Physically Jose is less demanding and yhws intense relationships with players. Poch keeps his stance.
  13. Prime Krul was way better than Dubs. All I know is our team of the decade + Rafa would’ve been good enough to win multiple trophies.
  14. Re: Mandzukic A good team striker. Not prolific but is selfless. Can also play in other positions happily. No accident he’s been to 2 champions league finals and the World Cup final.
  15. Aye looking at his wiki it was pretty much straight down hill from there. I see he got compo. But the whole ordeal would have cost him several million pounds in loss of earnings throughout his career. More players are coming back from major injuries to bring at the top of their game. But you do get those that never really make it back. Bolasie for example. One of the reasons I do not begrudge players demanding top dollar. Anichebe is 32, without a club. His last Everton contract was likely his last major pay day.
  16. Did I forget that happened? Horrible challenge. A leg breaking challenge like that should have a 19 game ban.
  17. System player. Had no pride in the shirt.
  18. It's hard to understand why the fucker isn't relevant anymore. What is it with these useless pfm fucks have against tactics? That's McClaren's fundamental weakness as a manager. He's just not a great leader. A total lack of ability to motivate teams properly. Coaching and tactical stuff seem like his strength but when things go badly he doesn't know how to turn around fallen heads. His grinning is a bluff to act like he's confident and sure of himself but he's not and people can sense it quickly. That's why he fails so quickly at so many jobs. "(He is) a great guy, a good coach on the pitch, but as a manager there were a lot of things (missing),” Janmaat said whilst speaking to dutch outlet AD. “He could have been louder, and more able to make his mark on certain things. (He is) an excellent coach on the pitch, who happens to be a manager.” You listen to Pep, you listen to Mourinho - the very first thing they speak about is attitude, motivation etc. That's the same across any industry. You need the right people in terms of character and motivation firstmost. I don't consider that a PFM trait - focussing on attitudes and hard work. The PFM thing is just being bad coaches. It's having no plan of action beyond motivation and such. It's about the "race to the bottom" way of playing football. The sides either have zero identity and change styles of play all the time or they just lump it.
  19. The sad thing is I reckon 90% of Newcastle fans would rather see local lads come through the system and play for Newcastle than spend £500,000 a week on someone like Pogba. I wouldn't like. Splashing the cash on top class players is great. We are playing these because we haven't invested in our central midfield with class in 4 years. 2 from a relegation fodder Swansea, Diame a yo-yo midfielder type who has gone now and a lad that couldn't make it at Arsenal. The Longstaff's have bailed us out. I'm not sure how much either was intended to be introduced into the first team and it's been great to see. But it's mostly down to having dire options in midfield. If we sold or released the other lads, i'm not sure any would get regular time at other PL clubs. It's only our first choice CBs, GK, maybe one or two of the new signings. But our CMs or RWBs - not a chance imo.
