  1. Doesn't say £7m anywhere that I can see, mentions an 8 figure bid.

Sunday Sun take on things http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/2011/06/12/nufc-new-boy-yohan-cabaye-in-plea-to-gervinho-79310-28862590/
  3. So where's the best place (as in cheapest) online shop for legit shirts. Was just looking at the official Nike store and they want £50 for the France top!
  4. Just me or does that sound plausible?
  5. There's certainly something of the gambler in a lot of Ashley's decisions, I'm assuming he rubber-stamps pretty much everything that happens. Ba will be an improvement over anything we've currently got, and by a considerable margin imo. But without another striker coming in we are throwing the dice every time he plays. A bad injury (any injury to his knee) and his career is over probably, leaving us in a similar position to post-Carroll. Gamble all you like but have options to fall back on.

    Alan Pardew

Wonder how those with the negative preconceptions are going to cope with this turn of events.

    Alan Pardew

I think he was agreeing with you..

Interesting quote from Cabaye in the Journal today re Pardew..
  9. Just waiting now for the Shearer proclamation... "Not a lot is known about Cabaye, other than he's a French player.."

Aye. Lets not kid ourselves though on one thing, he choose us at the peak of his powers because we not only could pay him what he was worth but also at that time had a side and future capable of winning major honours. He was always NUFC bound though and would have played for us at some point regardless. As he said it was a dream come true, to score goals at the Gallowgate for Newcastle. Shearer had many opportunities to leave but he stayed loyal and he also put NUFC before England. I really believe Shearer when he says he does not regret joining NUFC. He may regret not winning a trophy or this or that but he lived a dream and that's special and more value than a medal around the neck. Would Shearer have turned Man Utd down for us had we been a mid-table side? No. He did stay with us while were though. Did anyone try and lure him away like, that we know of?

Back in the day the only football you saw was pretty much a weekly fixture of Match of the Day, any other team other than your local one was still a distant place, the enemy as it were. Since Sky and the almost full-time coverage of football - seemingly focused more on the perceived 'big few' - local clubs have become marginalised wherever you live. I think. Perhaps.
  12. I believe you. Even thought it was amusing as I never took you seriously. Seems others are judge, jury and executioners though on what can pass for humour. At the same time I can definitely see how a significant portion of people might not find it funny. edit: ffs Dave, can you change the timestamp on your post so it doesn't look like I'm jumping on a bandwagon!

  14. Turns out you really are!
  15. Must admit, wouldn't make me feel proud in the slightest. I'd wish him the best of luck though - whilst hoping we got a good replacement.

    Gervinho

    You're right, I'm off.
  17. Depends on how he'll do. What a fucking pointless post. Am I the only person to spot it? Has a go at someone's post whilst simultaneously describing his own.
  18. A different perspective - wouldn't be at all surprised to find Pardew's quite keen to get rid actually. It will never be truly Pardew's changing room until Nolan's gone.
  19. Graham Carr was quoted as saying, iirc, that there 'would be big changes coming at Newcastle' Forgive me a moment of ill-advised optimism but fucking hell, imagine Gervinho AND Zoggy added to Ben Arfa and Cabaye. Throw in a striker and it's a SKY subscription for me next season fuck these streams. Moment has passed. Never going to happen.
  20. Brilliant, the keeper near broke his neck when the ref blew his whistle for the goal.
