Were there REALLY though? Or are you confusing Ashley apologists with people who just don't condemn everything he's done at the club? There's no way this place was rammed full of people who believed in everything Ashley was doing only a few months ago.

I'd love to believe that's true, about having sounded out a credible manager to take over. However you just can't believe anything in the papers these days (or indeed any days really). Also we shouldn't just be sounding one out in case Kinnear can't come back, we should have hired him already! I mean what are we waiting for?, Lambias has said already that Kinnear won't be allowed to be manager until the last couple of games of the season. Are they going to wait until the last two games of the season and then hire another temporary manager just for those if Kinnear can't make it? I'd put nothing past this bunch of clowns.

You're entitled to your opinion of course. I agree with a lot of it apart from the final conclusion. We should not right this game off, we should realise that Spurs have a quite shocking record of being shaky against us and go for the win. If we end up losing then IMO we'll have lost yet another potentially winnable game.

Form does not tell you everything about who will win a game, if it worked like that every team would always be in the same place in the league, form changes and there are also blips. Records between two teams can often have as much baring on a game as form. Also for the record I've never said our game against the Spuds is a dead cert win and I can't remember anybody else saying that. see my next post - the above is NE5-esque in its vagueness...of course we "could" win, any possible result can happen on any day a game is played I didn't say anything about "we could win", I was talking about how the record between two teams can often be as much of a factor in a result as the form of the two teams. All I have ever said is its a game we should think of as winnable, as in a game we have a real chance of winning. I also haven't seen anyone in this thread claiming we're a dead cert to win, nobody's going to claim that against any team because no game is a dead cert, especially for us at the moment. History is a Football reason mate, and yes we all remember our London record which was finally smashed that night at Highbury. But until then it'd become a monkey on our teams back, because records get in your head. That's why I believe its a winnable game. Again that doesn't mean I think we'll definitely win, some people seem to take the work winnable to far.

You think records mean nothing?, I have to say that's extremely naive. Of course records are there to be broken as the saying goes. However players and coaches do take notice of such things and it can become a mental block. After all we haven't beaten Spurs 6 times in the last 3 years home and away because we've always had the best players and manager. To be honest calling people arrogant and stupid because they disagree with you is a little bit arrogant and stupid. I mean people weren't calling you names were they?, just disagreeing. Yeah, to be honest I think when it comes to getting rid of most of our high earners we'd need to go the fire sale route whether we stay up or go down. Since nobody's going to give us good money for Geremi, Duff, Smith or Butt, we might get £4-5 million for the lot if we hold out for the best deals possible, so we'll likely end up giving all but Smith away and selling Smith for a few million. Barton's the only one we could possibly get good money for. Of course Viduka, Owen and Gonzales will be gone for free either way. I suppose really the fee's are pretty unimportant in comparison to the £30 million a year we'd save in wages.

Sorry to go on about it but the Spuds are unbeatable in your opinion? In my opinion we have 5 winnable games (and no before anyone says it that doesn't mean I think we're likely to win them, just that we should if we're to stay in this league), with Stoke being the most difficult of them.

More likely to beat the Spuds then Stoke IMO.

From a Football perspective common sense hasn't applied no, but he's not going to make a business decision that amounts to financial suicide. No, the club owes Ashley just over £100 million, the other £135 million or whatever it was is what he paid to Shepherd and the Halls to own the club. That money isn't owed to him, he'd have to sell the club to try to get that back. All he'd get if he brought in administrators is the small amount of cash they would bring in selling assets on the cheap and any money they get if they sold the club, again on the cheap, minus the administrators fee. All in all he could maybe expect £40-£50 million, if he's lucky, a £200 million loss. If he put the club up for sale now for nowt with the proviso that the money owed to him was paid in full immediately I'm sure it would go like a shot. In which case he'd be getting about £110 million back, losing less then £140 million.

Hearing it around town doesn't give it any more substance like. The only thing that will for me is to find a reason why Ashley would actually want to do it. Because in our situation, with Ashley holding all debts and owning the entire club, it makes about as much sense to me as entering into a race with a dead horse.

How does putting a club he owns completely (including all the debt) into administration help the man? People like you said it made sense for Ashley to not spend money and "put the books right", whereas a much smaller number of people like me tried to tell you it made no sense for him not to show ambition and back his manager. Still think the same ?
