On first look, I thought "wow, none of the zany Puma graphics" and then I zoomed in and saw it was made from someone's nan's curtains from 1952 died yellow with gimp-ish (not Northern Gimp - necessarily - you do you) vinyl/latex badges.

Without the sponsor it looks like the monogrammed polo someone's boss would have worn to the country club in 1982 to get in a couple of sets of tennis. Honestly not sure if that's a good thing or not from a "would I wear this or not" perspective . . . but seems an odd choice for a jersey.

MLS teams have been in preseason training for a week and Atlanta's first match is a month from today. Miggy certainly has matchday fitness, but you'd think Atlanta would want to start integrating him into the team/tactics sooner than later.

St. Louis City played them right before the break for Leagues Cup and he was subbed on to start the second half. I had no idea he was still playing at all, and when I saw him yelled "Holy shit, I thought Yedlin retired years ago!" Our seats are 11 rows up and right behind where he had taken up his position. And, of course, it was one of those awkward silent moments right before the second half kicks off. Hopefully he took it for the genuine expression of surprise that it was . . . .

Having STL City tickets continues to be a fun ride. Wife is getting seriously into it - she wanted to re-watch the first half after we got home at 00:30 due to the tornado-warning-delayed start time because our seats are at the opposite end of the stadium from the goal we were attacking. On board with the Club's approach to just about everything, and am enjoying the style of play - especially the nice dose of shithousery that is proving to be an effective addition to the high-pressing style of play - not sure which is more responsible for the errors we're creating in the opposition. Still early days, and I'm not sure we have the depth to maintain it throughout the whole season or how long it will be until other teams adapt effectively to it.

Cool to be a part of it, but, of course, could see fuck all until the replays later. Enjoying the style we're playing, though it seemed much muddier with more chasing than getting into the passing lanes (apart from Blom who was everywhere) than against Austin. Too small a sample size to have a clue whether teams are already adjusting or whether it was just a function of the difference between the styles of play that Austin and Charlotte employed.
