Aside from the lineup being questionable, but completely understandable in the circumstances, my only real quibble with the performance was that we seemed a bit too ‘nice’. Probably born out of a deep respect for their club and players, but we could’ve done more to drag them into a dogfight and attempt to rattle them. Jesus wept, I’m not sure I’ve seen a better footballing side at SJP than Barcelona. Pedri was unreal, De Jong not far behind, and I thought Raphinha was generally brilliant as well. The technical quality difference was pretty massive in the midfield zone in particular, but their defenders used the ball really well too. No shame in the defeat, scored a cracking goal ourselves, but tonight shows there’s still a long old way to go on the journey yet to get to where we hope we can.
