The team isn't bad to be faifr, but I would like to see more of Hatem's dribble generating skills. If our only objective is to stay in the prem, then at least give us a modicum of enjoyment, through the skills of our french wizard, to soften the apathy of our now battered down expectations...

Yep, Cabaye operates much better from middle of the pitch rather than further up it. I would love to see a younger version of Nolan in that position for us, someone who can win things in the air, hold the ball up and knock a few in by arriving that bit deeper...

Agree com'pletely, he should have had sissoko or Gouff off for ben arfa a lot earlier, the system we had until then was working fine we just needed some more creativity...

When I first started living in Bilbao our eleven aside team got a chance to play against Athletic Bilbao Veterans, I was 25 then and thought I was a decent footballer. Very, very humilliating playing against 50 year olds and only getting about three touches whole game. They literally could have played us off the park with one leg tied up and hopping they were that good. Totally different level! As an aside, I play in a sunday league over here and we have two players who have played thrid division over here, they are both late forties but completely pish all over the rest of the team. Just that know how and complete lack of nerves.

I think the missing ingredient which would have far more sway in player decisions to stay would be the attitude of the club to kick on and to raise the level for the next season i,e, buy some new players to make us stronger. Unfortunately this isn't going to happen. If Fatty did dip into his pocket this jan and buy a striker and winger it would certainly show Remy, Cabaye and the likes a signal of intent... Enjoyed seeing Liverpool brought down a peg. really good game to watch. Soarez really is great to watch, if he ever gets injured or suspended again they will really suffer... i'm pretty sure the idea was that between remy and anita they'd be very fluid, gouffran was, cabaye and sissoko did a bit but were often stuck not knowing who should go or stay, ben arfa just stayed wide. honestly don't think it was tactics, especially as remy started hitting the wide right route up against their left back. You are right saying we were often stuck with players not knowing who should go or stay... Nobody looked comfortable attacking and that showed as we had very little effort on goal first half, probably being down to out of position and tactics. I really think it is that simple as 4411, with the two forwards very free and roaming. Everybody should be tactically correct when defending as it is that simple if you have a clear message. Today just seemed "out of synch"??

Pardew got it wrong for me in the first half and he as much said that in the presser, or not (however you wnt to interperet), he should have had sissoko on the right and Benny in a nº10 role or very advanced midfield role. He changed the whole sides momentum and shouldn't havve...

Thought Pardew made a mistake in the set up today, should have left sissoko on the right in front of Debuchy and Ben Arfa a free role upfront with Remy. Thought Sissoko was average to be honest.
