Both played well last night. Tbh I can't fault the defense last night as both goals were the fault of the midfield, anita should have stuck with Payet for the first and should have A) technically fouled Moses or B) had a bit more aggression about him to go shoulder to shoulder with him.

Agree totally, his ability, technique and will to run/play/cover beats every bugger out there at the moment. Please have him on this weekend from the start.

Moussa would most definitely be better in a 433, him being on the right of the middle bank of 3, with thauvin, ayoze and a striker up front we would have plenty of "fret" (aaargh vomit!) . When a full back pushes on it would be imperative that tiote (whoever) covered the gap properly and the other fullback stayed. Would even go as far to try tiote in the middle with sissoko and wijnaldum either side. Should so clearly be a conventional 3 in the middle, or he could also play in a midfield 2 in a 442. He's not a right winger, and playing him so close to the touchline is like sitting in bed next to a horny Scarlett Johansson, and having a w***. TBF. I'd have to have a tactical before. I agree with the jist of the comments above, the 4231 is not working and jack and anita are both playing far too deep most of the time. i like the look of the 433 above or a proper 4411. Means one of jack or anita wouldn't play which would improve us 10 fold attack wise.

As bad as anita last night, only saving grace was that he wasn't directly at fault for any of the goals.

I thought this ranked as another of his notorious non-performances last night. He was atrocious defensively and completely avergae offensively, my major being him leaving his man and getting sucked into the ball play area like a kid in the playground for the first goal, the second goal wasn't much better, just accentuated his weakness against any other reasonably sized midfielder. When we refurb the two DMs we can perhaps talk about competing properly. P.S. I thought wijnaldum last night wasn't fit to wear the shirt, looked uninterested and completely anaemic.

In the first half jack and anita hardly won a challenge, passed sideways or backwards and played five yards in front of the defense.. something has to change

Let me defend him just a little: he is playing isolated against two CDs the majority of the time, our play tonight didn't put one through ball to him if I recount. Mitro would have been perfect for us tonight, even Ayoze can wriggle and hold the ball better. He looks shot of confidence tbf...

Words to describe our side tonight: Scared, no ideas, no blood in veins, no fight, no game plan, slow, static, no runners, awkward...etc etc ad finitum! NO SPIRIT Anita lost every challenge, passed it sideways and back to Krul. Lost his man for first goal, got pushed off for the second. Absolute hummer! Krul's distribution is getting worse, 1st half specially. jaanmat defensively was afwul tonight, hadiara looks out of his depth. Colo just about OK, Mbemba was good. Colback was like his partner, perhaps half a percent better. Wijnaldum was absent the whole of the first half, like playing with ten men. Second half not much better tbh. Sissoko was good, thauvin worked hard and looked like our only threat. Cisse needs to find a first touch and hold up play otherwise he is completely useless in this formation. against two central defenders we need somebody who can hold and distribute to oncoming runners. Ayoze needs to start next game, as does De Jong in the no10. Put wijnaldum instead of Anita. Mcclaren has his work cut out for him if we just don't turn up to games like this today. Although I did think west ham's forwards played snappy quick inventive football up front, their defence and holding midfield should have been there for the taking. GUTTED!

Good news, I like Aarons. Wow, I am starting to get optimistic about NUFC again and our potential in the near future, although...at the same time I have the occasional stomach turning dread that fatty is going to pull another of his famed clusterfu##. At least it's entertaining again!

swap wijnaldum and sissoko, anita for colback f***ing 4am over here this one Like the defense there for Wham, Taylor's aerial strength needed, Mbemba on left would be a deffo upgrade of Haidara. Yes, wijnaldum has to replace one of our two plodders in midfield to allow either Dejong or ayoze into the No10 spot. Not too fussed who he starts upfront but I think ayoze deserves it based on his input and enthuisiasm so far shown...

It would do a lot for our confidence and the fans, to have a resounding win over this lot. It's not as though they have a much better team or are playing superbly, they have been awful at home so we should take advantage and get at them from the off. My main worry is how we will defend against Carrol if he is fit enough to play, come on. If he does I would really like taylor to be in the team so that there is some sort of aerial competition for him. I would even sub Janmaat for mbemba on the right as he is as good a defender but adds more prescence in the air. Now that Mitr's suspended I thin SMc should take a chance on the SDJ and Ayoze combination and move Wiji back into the holding two. I'm not that bothered between who he drops from jack and anita as they are both similar. I can't see wijnaldum letting us down in the centre, in fact I think his distribution and his forcefull running will make us even more dangerous. It will be a difficult game but I would think we can beat them, not sure how we will handle carrol if they bring him on. perhaps look to put Taylor in the middle and shift mbemba to full back?

A shareholder doesn't want a nice bloke who he can emphasize with, he wants someone who will make him money at all cost. Love him or hate him Fat boy is squarely in the latter category, not surprising 88% of shareholders voted for him to continue at the helm...

problem Mclaren has is that both of them are so similar and he really needs one of them to push on up the field a little bit. The fact that our centre backs now pull out wide and the full backs move up and past the half way line means that the "pivots" (two holding CMs) drop into that space between our area and centre circle to receive the ball, our problem is that both of them seem to play only sideways and drop far too deep, one of them should be playing a more "cabaye" like role slightly further forward. The solution is simple, and by what is being prnted about de jong, and may come about on Monday: Drop one of anita/colback, bring Wijnaldum back into midfield and put de jong into the No10 spot.... VOILA!

Just let him back into the No10 spot, he works his arse off, is very technical, can hold the ball up and bring others into play as well as scoring a few!!! Drop Wiji back a slot replacing Jack or Anita and hey presto... top team when defense is on form!

Got to agree with that, also Anita and Colback as the central midfielders means we are always naturally going to sit deep. We have so many midfielders but none of the combinations we've tried so far strikes the right balance. Agree completely, until we find something more imposing (both offensively and defensively) than Anita and Colback we will find it hard. Any defensive injuries/suspensions and we are knackered...

Agree completely, wijnaldum needs to drop into the two middle player section and one of anita or colback get dropped. bring ayoze or SDJ into the No10 spot. Probloem solved, we all see it clearly apart from Mclaren who thinks Wiji's position os No10 (Wiji has said his preferred place). He is playing very well in that position also, bit of a conundrum really, would be good to try it out though...
