  1. I mean if it benefited us obviously I’d be happy because I support Newcastle, but I’d be able to say that we benefited from a mistake. There’s not really a debate, it was a foul
  2. Could also be that it’s the end of another transfer window in which he’s not strengthened the squad, mind

    Fabian Schär

Wonder if he’s just started declining
  4. To me he applied a different standard to both sides: we were pulled up on every niggly foul but they were permitted to do them. The non-call that leads to their goal is a lot more shocking than a lot of people seem to have noticed today, the trip on Gordon was blatant.
  5. Yeh could use him back now, might as well play your premium players. I don’t think Schär is worth his shirt currently but there is the issue of balance…
  6. Your statement is illogical. His mistake directly led to the second goal…
  7. I dunno, we weren’t great but I thought we were worth a point really. We did hit the bar twice, and that second of theirs should never have stood. It wasn’t a good second half and it reduces our margin for error, but was an example of when the fine margins don’t quite go your way for me. The aspect most troubling was again how pap Bruno looks.
  8. That’s one of those areas where you’d think could VAR not step in? Gordon obviously and cynically tripped and they go up the other end and score.
  9. Dismal, dismal refereeing cost us there.
  10. Referee also helped them a lot, the one he failed to give us led to their second. So frustrating
  11. 6 points given to such a mediocre side.
  12. While this is becoming circuitous, I don’t think the situations are the same. The first team squad is shallow on top-end talent; I had hoped he could use his supposed contacts book / knowledge of less popular markets to find us a difference maker or contributor over 2 windows. Perhaps you are right and truly he is not permitted to sign anyone. Who knows. On balance I’m not convinced by him. You are equally entitled to disagree.
  13. Nope, that’s a non-sequitur. Howe did a good job last year in trying circumstances. I don’t mind if you want to see the positives with Mitchell, I just personally don’t see them based on his tenure with us to date.
  14. Because I don’t think he’s making much of a positive contribution: our first team squad has not improved since he arrived, despite this being a key part of his remit. TBH I was mainly joking, I’ve lost interest in nonsense of PSR, it sucks the joy from life.
  15. A ridiculous comment - nobody on here knows with any degree of certainty what the financial situation is. Nobody here is paid very well to identify players who would be suitable given that financial situation. The reality is that a significant aspect of PM's role with the club is to improve the first team squad. In two windows, he has not done anything positive in that regard. As fans, we read when he was hired that he was responsible for identifying many (now) great players early, and helping acquire them for very good value prices. This was supposedly the price worth paying for his weird media conduct which caused a pointless and energy-sapping public disagreement with the manager (who has actually made serious positive contributions to the forward progress of the club within the confines of his remit). I'm really up for him proving that he's a positive contributor and that he justifies the hype, but on the basis of 8 months I don't think it's unreasonable to be pretty underwhelmed with his contribution.
