  1. Sorry boys I’m out of this one, I’ll be in Canada on an in-laws tour.
  2. Let’s take the following example: “the energy of a full stadium is what feeds my soul”. If somebody dropped this in an interview, my mind would be made up then that we could go no further. These individuals are paid millions and given literal training to learn how to make it sound convincing and realistic. He has thought about saying that sentence and then taken the decision to actually say it out loud, presumably because he thinks that it’s what people want to hear on their first impression of him. I know what feeds your soul, David: money. It’s ok, we don’t need to talk about it. Just say “I’ve heard it’s one of the best atmospheres in sport and I can’t wait to see it in person”. Grand - looking forward to having you. I know North Americans trade in exuberant bullshit and generic platitudes, but at least give me the credit of assumed intelligence. Obviously it’s not that deep and the in-house interviewer has the journalistic edge of a satsuma, so it’s an inevitable mutual fluff piece. It’s really good to have him on board and I hope this one sticks and really does want to apply his talent, knowledge and experience in a way which reaps positive benefits. I remember when we hired Eales I did think that Atlanta United was a not particularly impressive career achievement, so seeing someone who has apparently succeeded or at least survived at huge name sporting institutions is really encouraging. The Leafs are enormous in Canada, we all know what Real are and I think I’m right in saying the Knicks are at least historically one of the major NBA franchises (despite being shit for a large part of recent history).
  3. Listened to it in the gym earlier, proper toaster in the bath material. Martin said both that the Saudis were checked out but they were obviously interested as they’d spent so much money this summer. The Saudi embassy joke should see him off air for a while at least. Quite like Si.
  4. Didn’t like reading that at all. I had thought that Howe had probably got to the point where he thought it wasn’t salvageable. That read like we didn’t know how to handle being bullied by a bigger dog and we did everything they expected.

It's an overpay but we can now afford that luxury. Have wanted him for ages so I'm made up, Will be very interesting to see if we now change how we play to facilitate him and Dribbelgott in the same side. The fees suggest we will.

A total misunderstanding of the situation we find ourselves in.
  7. We’ll only sell when the 3 conditions are met, by which we mean we’ll sell when 1 condition is met
  8. We’ve got to trade players eventually etc. it’s suicide if we don’t replace him.
  9. And possibly still the first and second most shit.
  10. I do see your point but I don’t think it’s accurate to say everyone venting anger hasn’t thought about how crap it will be if we sell at undervalue. Some obviously won’t have and your point has value there, but to some a fundamental threshold has been crossed and therefore pragmatism and keeping counsel for strategic reasons isn’t the desirable option. You’re not wrong that it’s part of what Liverpool want to try and force our hand, and in that way it would be good to not rise to it, but his behaviour is so jaw-droppingly shit you can surely see why people might have a go anyway.
  11. I think both views are logical, and both correct, in their own ways. For many people the behaviour is irredeemable, for many people the precedent is the most important, for others the most important is getting the most money and reinvesting it astutely. Nobody’s really wrong - which is what makes it such an awful situation. The point I was trying to make is that trying to equate defending the club and vocalising completely justified anger is not automatically tantamount to being wilfully indifferent to the club’s fortunes moving forward. There are things in life which can be deemed unforgivable, for many fans (especially travelling and paying every day fans) a red line has been broken (loyalty to the club and decency of conduct). I think as many others have set out better than me, the emotional side of this is every bit as important as the financial. What’s the point in competitive regional sport otherwise?
  12. Come on Marco, cheer up - it’s been acknowledged on social media!
  13. Nah think as an every-game fan he wants someone who has deliberately fucked the club in open public view to be spat out as soon as possible, personally.
  14. Love that for Vardy. Someone check on Magpar

As in you think it would be too vague to be enforceable? I am also a solicitor but haven’t done contract stuff for ages; I wondered whether you could actually try and enforce it by reference to some form of independently made valuation according to age and performance. If it was worth anything it does beg the question why he hasn’t tried to enforce it.
