The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Silva leaves Fulham
Theregulars replied to cp40's topic in Football
Who could have possibly worked out based on the circumstances, his job history and total absence of any experience whatsoever of English football that it would go this way. Spurs are owned by a hedge fund and it shows right now like a big naked emperor. -
Like even Dyche is a better bet than Tudor and you can surely get him for the remainder of the season for an affordable sum.
-
Things happening to them currently are things that happen to teams that get relegated, for sure. They have to bin Tudor off and bring someone who the players will run around for, but that person will (rightly) take them to the cleaners if he has any sort of track record of success. With that said I’m not sure any sane manager with a track record of success will go there now. The undeniably talented and meaty madman Romero aside, I don’t think there is anyone on their playing staff who id want with me in a relegation fight. Were I the malignant hedge fund gargoyles who run that club I’d move on from Tudor now. Even bringing back the laughing stock ange would surely rouse the players more than this guy who doesn’t even seem to speak the language well enough to rouse the players. It’s about as insightful and impactful a hire as when Southampton hired juric last year, and as predictably ill-fated as well.

The point is it’s inconsistent. It doesn’t matter really. -

I think for us to do well you need a mixture of the data-smart signings and big money “guarantees”; ideally succeeding with a few of the former leaves you scope to get 1 or 2 of the latter. The difficulty with us now is likely going to be convincing really top level players to come here for less money and have no guarantee of recurring elite European competition (that, I am sure, being the pitch partly sold to botman, Bruno and tonali in particular). That’s before throwing in the uncertainty of no Europe / some Europe, inevitable departures and what I see as an ownership which is supportive but not backing the club as one of its main priorities. You then wonder - as always seems to be lurking around with us and something I think we really struggle with as a fanbase - whether in practice one of our strengths is being a stepping stone for players with immense potential to be superbly coached and then get a massive move elsewhere. I can’t see any other way around it with financial rules as they are, and that concerns me because the Isak think was so damaging to everyone involved and has really obviously set us back quite a bit. As a fanbase I think it triggers awful memories.
-
Give us 1 match a week too and I’m fairly confident we’d at least be running them very close, if not ahead. Their model is a success in significant part because it has a ceiling of lower ranked European competition qualification and most players who perform well leaving at the will of larger clubs.

Been an absolute lesson. Strange match to pick such an experimental side.

As egregious as the villa selection in my view, it’s so obvious that he gets clipped and tries to ride it and then falls over because he slips, at no stage does he appeal for a penalty.

Is this the waaaay to Barcelona? yes

They had a looooot of chances in that game, especially first half. Maybe 10 exaggeration but they had lot of efforts on goal I thought
