  1. I really dont get this argument you are making? If you turn your argument around plenty of managers have failed under same circumstances. Its not easy no matter what team in the PL you are managing, Bournmouth sold most of their star players(3/4 defenders) and manage to do better than the season before, on top of that got European football by actually playing good football. We sold one and looked out of shape for most of the season and not playing good football. Being the right manager is also about timing and luck, great managers like Ancelotti are also strugling. Some times its just a right fit and most times its not.
  2. €60M according to transfermarkt.
  3. If you ignore the details everything is simular. Do you think our team is better now than we where in 22/23? Or 23/24? Or 25/26? Imho no, not as a team. Artetas team do you think they are better now than previous years? Big yes. Cmon..Howe has the final saying so he gets the praise and blame - when he signed Isak, Gordon etc he was a mastermind, and this summer he had nothing to do about it. If Howe said no to Elanga do you think we would have signed him? Lets just be honest about it, everyone makes mistakes now and then, and some mistakes you loose your job like kissing a coworker on a cold play concert. Btw: this discussion is not about Howe in or out, its about comparing him to Artetas case at Arsenal.
  4. I dont understand how you can use the Arteta case which is not simular to the Howe case. He took over the team from Emry when they were on 10th place, he finnished 8th that season. The next season they finnished 8th again(61 points), this was a rebuild season. Next season 5th missing out on CL, then 3 times 2nd, and now they are currently first. Thats what progress looks like, getting better each season. We are on our 4th rebuilding season and are getting worse, declining. Next season we need to rebuild most of the squad again. The summer signings must be one of the worst transfer windows in our history? We now need to change out most of them because they are not good enough or suit our style of play, we also have alot of players ageing which need replacing. Maybe if you turned around Howes time as Newcastle manager, maybe then you could compare them..
  5. Im wondering the "Eddie in" group. If we just reach the champions league spot next season, then the season after we have a season like this one. Are you still Eddie in then? For me this season looks like the players have lost fait in the project, and Howe and his team doesnt seem to inspire them anymore. We dont look like a side thats set up good, we dont have good fighting spirit etc. Our identity has been lost for most of the season.
  6. So much drama 🍿
  7. Easy Saudi pay 70% of the wages, we sign him for free. Problem solved 👌😁 dont know the player anymore but we could use a player with the energy he had at Lpool.
  8. Cherki was listed for €35, the season before it was rumoured that he was available for as litle as €22,5.

I really hope we are not playing the same style as we have done for majority of this season

This guy needs glasses/lenses. That miss is down to his lack of depth vision.
  11. I loved his celebration, no matter the oponent or if it was the 10-0 goal he celebrated like he just scored the winner in a world cup final. Epic player
  12. In the 90's you had mainly 4-4-2, and 4-5-1. If you played 4-3-3 that meant 3 strikers or very offensive wingers(fowards). 4-5-1 you had wingers but more flat. I do believe this season that we play more of a 4-5-1 formation, than a 4-3-3. We press very flat, and often have 10 players 20-25meters from goal defending. Can someone please explain to me what a 4-3-3 formation is this day and age? And what is a 4-5-1 formation? Because imo we play a 4-5-1. Putting 6 strikers on the field doesnt mean we play a formation with six strikers like Bruce thought, or was Bruce right..
  13. This is so typical this season, inviting the other team into the game..
  14. If we sign Delap I do believe we will se Gordon on top next season too
  15. Nope, not sure he would enter top 10, top of my mind: Riviere, Paul Dalglish, Cacapa, guivarch, boumsong, Amalfitano(bought the wrong brother), ferrerya, xisco, doumbia +++
  16. Ofc we can. We just need to trust the system and not the players.
  17. To be fair I really do hope our board has a list of potential managers to take over for Eddie. If they dont, we are in deep shit as every business should have a BCP. I do really hope they are not looking into the forum for inspiration when/if they have to pick their next manager... Is it a good thing the way we have played this season? Is it good enough to have lost to Sunderland? Is it good enough to be behind Brentford, Everton, Bournmouth on 10th and potential behind Sunderland and Fulham today at 12th? Have we progressed the last 2 season? If we continue to play the way we have this season, then im joining wyn davies on the out team and I do think Howe himself will be on it, but I do hope Howe manage to turn it around and that we also get a grip with our backroom staff(directors etc) and start move forward again. This season has been a big decline in so many aerias, the Isak saga, the transfer window, what is going on inside the club, why are so many leaving in different positions, training facilities, stadium, +++
  18. Its kinda hard to do that when the transfer window is closed
  19. Are we really playing 4-3-3 and do we have high press? I know that we used to, but dont think we are anymore. Its more like a 4-5-1 and often low block. We often press 1 maybe 2 at the time which is easy to play around. We are playing man marking where our wingers often doesnt track their man, can maybe say we are playing 4-1-3-2-0 with a winger and a striker not on top or helping out the midfield or close enough to each other.
  20. Tgarve I guess you think of yourself as a 'positive' fan? Why did you start a negative post? Asking for a friend..
  21. Invite him back to use our training facilites while he is looking for a club. Its always nice to see the club helping former players.
  22. Putting 3 up on defensive corners - then we could analyse where we are most likely to hit the ball. Normally one midle and two on the side. Yes we play more 4-5-1 these days, we are to low. Thats what im saying about going back to the basic. We need to play with higher risk and press with all of our players, we normally press with 1-2 players, so its easy to play around us. Also when we have the ball, because of a low line the other team is allready organized by the time we are in their final third. We also move the ball around to slow when the other team is laying deep, we have wingers wo likes to go inside so we are missing the quick ball into the box, to much twisting and turning before the ball comes in. Wish we could change positions for the wingers when they are not working effectivly - atleast experiment more like we did in the start. This has been a problem like you say for a couple of seasons - we really need to go back to how Howe set us up that first season.
  23. Naaah. We often sit to deep, on corners for example we have 11 players in our own box. In open play when we are not countered on, we put 11 players defending from 20-25 meters. How are we going to counter attack any team without any players up front? Leave atleast 1 or 2.. we do build up slow and try to find an opening or rely on mistakes. If you watch our corners we put our players next to the goalkeeper and hit it close to goal and hope we get a foot or head on the ball and it goes in. When Steve Bruce was the manager we even had 1vs3 etc, it didnt mean we where having a good attack.. Our last two seasons we have relied to much on Isak imo. I do think we need to go back to the basic, give them more freedom, more high pressure and free flowing football.
  24. We are set up to defend.. 11 behind the ball far back in our own half. We need to go back to more freedom and push players up so we can be an attacking threat again..
  25. The Elanga and Wissa I can understand why we signed. They where safe bets(even though they havent been shit so far..). But Ramsey, I dont see how he fits us? Is he central midfield or a winger? Is he thought to be a starter, squad player or what? Thiaw the best signing was imo signed as a backup/squad rotation player.. we need to have a look at our recruitment and scout team, because this summer was horrible and by now it looks like money wasted..
