Agreed. I have no real animus towards him, I don't think he's abhorrent, but as Hughesy says I think he will benefit from positive discrimination by virtue of being British and a local lad. As a player, he has enthusiasm and decent athleticism for a small guy, but poor technique and little footballing intelligence. It's an immediate glass ceiling on the team having him in central midfield.

Really hope Aarons starts but seems doubtful.

Ended up with 7.5m in the bank so I can rotate Aguero and Sanchez in when fit.

You need to buy more Newcastle defenders.

Would say so. Not a chance Decent purchases so far and we've barely made a dent on our transfer cash yet. It looks like we've sat down and thought about who we're going to buy, and have realised we need to start spending a bit more money. Three more decent signings and we'll finish top half. You sound like a Mackem

Crikey, he even drives lazily.

Might follow that but not sure about Chelsea. Lower leagues are insanely difficult. Unsure if Chelsea the hunger to retain it.
-
Antepost time yet for the new season, or waiting for more signings to finalise?

What a game that was.

Rotating Aarons/De Jong may not be a bad idea. Especially as both seem to have had an injury-prone start to their careers here.

Within the realms of possibility (ie. with Colback definitely as a starter), I'd like to see: Krul Janmaat Colo Mbemba Haidara Colback Sissoko Wijnaldum De Jong Perez Mitrovic Perez is a better footballer than Cisse and will contribute more to the creativity of the team, and Mitrovic seems to know the onion bag well as being stronger than a pre-pubescent Hugo Viana - something which Cisse can't say for himself.

Stomach bug seems to have cleared up.

Hope is a killer Honestly, Winegums and YoungKetsbaia aren't even adequate backfill for the inaction shown in previous windows. Our three CBs (yes, three, which is somehow now just the norm) are still Colo, Willo and Tayl...-o. It's a start, I can't deny but there's a long way to go before hope enters the equation. So far, this is the minimum investment required to keep us in the league and get easily-swayed bums back on seats.
