  1. Agree with the top part of the above post especially. Need to get in behind their defence to cause them problems, not hit-n-hope diagonals into Cisse. They'll deal with that without working up a sweat, 9/10.
  2. I'll try and bring it back to topic by pulling this back up regarding Vuckic, think it's pretty much spot on. Probably true for his potential in a Newcastle team. Another of those: what would he look like in a team with movement/options around him? Similar to Cabaye, I think he'd look much better elsewhere.
  3. Put on a tin hat. The estimations of all have fallen immeasurably in the eyes of the board as Pardew's reign as progressed.
  4. You say that now, but when it gets to womblemaster's turn...
  5. It's true though, Inochi kept telling us he and all the people he knew at the match were in full support of Pardew and it was just people on here against him. I was laughing more at Ronaldo's ingenious wording, I do think there are a sizeable proportion of the crowd still on his side. Sort of enough to make it awkward, for example I was a bit wary about slagging him at West Ham away last year and held my tongue for an hour or so, however when I started getting agitated with the daft cunt nobody objected, yet nobody joined in. There were a few boos when he subbed Ben Arfa, but nowt major. My dad's a long time season ticket holder and he hates him, same as many I would guess but he still retains a decent amount of support from what I can gather. My mates who continue to attend hate him in the days immediately after matchdays, but a few days later they "feel sorry for him".
  6. This is good restraint for me. Usually my wildcard would be in operation by 2pm on Saturday.
  7. Wonder if SSN are charging mediation fees for communicating our valuation of the player to the interested purchaser(s)...
  8. Nothing tonight, but some extra winnings came into my account late so I've put on a treble: Chelsea -1 vs Villa EVERTON vs WBA (really impressed me against Norwich, unlucky not to win) Man City -1 away to Cardiff
  9. Anyway, booted out Ivanovic for Vertonghen. Propa' norty defender, loves to come forward. Worth the extra half mil. Also need to phase out Chelskis before they have no GW fixtures.
  10. The way I see it is if you can aim for 2000 over the season, you've a good chance of winning medium-sized leagues. i.e. somewhere between 8-20 people. So going off that, 55-60 is a great average to aim for. Very hard to keep up, mind. I always have too many weekends where nothing happens to keep up such an average. Had some low, low scores last year, despite winning a couple of friends' leagues. I think I got under 20 one weekend. I wish Van Persie was banned from this game. I get it, he's mint, and fair play to those who've thought about the rest of their team. Can't lie though, it annoys me when I see some muppets I know not giving 2 shits about the rest of their team and having RVP bail them out every week. I tried to average 55 last year, fell a bit short (due to a midseason collapse!), but I think your projections about winning a medium size league are pretty accurate. You hate RVP in FF  The challenge is to beat those RVP©-heavy teams with skill and bargains they won't know about until they're priced out of their range. My big pet peeve is when your "rare" finds/bargains begin to get duplicated in every team around you. That said, I don't really have many "unknowns" in my side atm, there are too many players who are big names who are a bit unmissable.
  11. 61 with Hazard ©, Ivanovic & Lukaku left. Hoping to average 60 this season, so good start.
  12. Salmonella off some dodgy pasta. Can't gnochiM for missing the match, in that case.
  13. Any credibility behind the rumour they're getting Cardozo?
  14. Back in my day, you could take that money to the sweet shop on the corner, buy the street and still have change left over for several high class ladies of the night.

Very plausible outcome. It's not a case of relying on individual brilliance to save us anymore, because we don't seem to have that reasonably dependable base/sturdiness* underpinning any individual brilliance we can produce. [Extrapolating from last season, too - not just our non-performance vs Citeh]

Think gimp was referring to them actually having a go (17 shots on Man Utd's goal, to Man Utd's 15 on Swansea's goal. 6 on target, compared to Man Utd's 7).

    Alan Pardew

Me too. - For all his lies/mispronunciations/catatonic binge drinking, he's still more honest than Pardew - Less annoying - More entertaining as a character - More confident/ambitious - Remote possibility of a honeymoon period - Awarded manager of the year twice more than Pardew - Players might not hate him yet - One step closer to the next manager not being Joe Kinnear

Get rid of AP now, JK in December, then half a season to stay up and convince HBA, Krul and remaining purples to stay in the summer/build a cohesive team ready to compete for 2014/15.

It's got to be hurtful to your pride to be tonked week in, week out - and the way this season has started, must make it feel like the 0-3 and 0-6s results happened only last week. The lashing out with stupid fouls/throwing the ball away is unprofessional though. The players should take responsibility for it (they are adults, afterall), but the manager should be doing more to avoid them being in a situation where they are almost constantly under the cosh too. As individuals, they probably esteem themselves to be able enough to make a good fist of a contest with Man City/Liverpool, and to dominate Sunderland, so to wilt so pitifully must wound their pride. Add in the general lack of ambition permeating the club, the defeatist attitude of the manager and an increasingly uneasy crowd and it becomes a downward spiral from which it is difficult to escape IMO. Hope the group can put last night to the back of their minds and have some confidence going into the weekend so we are the footballing aggressors come matchday. I fully expect to hear comments from Pardew talking up West Ham, however.
