This mentality, not letting standards drop when we essentially have nowt to play for, is a huge sign of culture change (as though the results, resilience and performances to date aren't enough). A mindset of being winners is huge.

Shearer is good. Don't agree with everything, and he obviously gets on better with some people than others, but he seems like a good guy. I like that he rates Scholes so highly. Good to have a club legend who isn't an embarrassment like Le Tissier.

I don't think the new owners require the same cajoling as Mike Ashley, bit zooming out, surely this is ideal: 1) Win a bunch of games to lift us out of the relegation zone and demonstrate Howe's credentials 2) Demonstrate the gulf in class between Newcastle and the top half, and the scale of nvestment required over the summer Not saying it's intentional, but working out nicely.

That's really poor from a Newcastle perspective. The CB getting sucked out of position like that because of the ego of winning the battle of tackles is terrible.

Good performance with quite a few people out and bent refs. Could have taken care of the ball a bit better second half but not too much grousing from me.
