Defeat at the Hawthorns optimistic? I'm as disgusted at the Hughton/Pardew saga as anyone else, but while the squad is what it is - there isn't too much room for any material difference as to how our season will go to January. Team picks itself, the players will be fired up and this is a seriously ordinary Liverpool side. Hopefully Barton & Nolan will be back.

As do I - got the last few pre-match predictions right

I'm guessing everyone just won money?

Same old Chelsea, losing again..

It's a foul in the box. Nothing horrific, but a foul nonetheless. IMO.

Michael Ashley, pudding and pie Screwed the gaffe and made us sigh, Decent managers - there are a few but Ashley hired his mate Pardew To the theme of Georgie Porgie [Georgie Porgie, Puddin' and Pie, Kissed the girls and made them cry, When the boys came out to play Georgie Porgie ran away.]

Sadly enough, apart from initial and very fleeting anger/shock/sadness at the cretinism of our beloved club, I've become rather insensate to it all... ...and the straw that broke that camel's back was the Sporting Lisbon loss. Something about the way we sabotaged ourselves when I thought we were as fully sabotaged as we could be with Souness at the helm - the naivety of youth, I suppose. I don't think we've ever had a better chance of getting a trophy in recent memory and I don't think we will again in the foreseeable future.

Ashley is already our owner man. Tobias Funke Fuck you, man. Funke would be the best manager in the league pacing up and down the touchline in his cut-offs. He's the world's first analrapist, FFS.

Yup, tempted to have a much-needed winter break like La Liga, Serie A &c....

There's money to be made betting on the next manager.

Hope Ashley catches hell if the fat fuck turns up.

Totally, he was just building a team I was proud to be a fan of again, even if they weren't world beaters. The idea we're going back to a circus run by Mike Ashley and whatever mercenary hasbeen he can get is deeply depressing. Mm, haven't been proud of a NUFC team in a long time or really had time for a manager. About another 3 or 4 managers from te next vaguely likable one by recent past trends.

As am I. Chris is a legend and a great bloke by all accounts. Hope he goes on to have a very successful manager without a tight, round, fat-headed pigshit afterbirth for a boss.

The plans he and the team were working on all week probably had to be scrapped when Barton was injured tbf. The appetite of the players certainly wasn't there though, you're right. I didn't say any significant material options he had at his disposal after we went down 1-0 - there's no way to reshuffle such a shit pack to any good use, but we came out at half-time and played a bit better and at least got out of our own half (albeit with some woolly-looking "chances") - so he did something okay at HT. People are entitled to say his Ameobi selection was poor, and they may be right as he was fairly abysmal yesterday, but he was hardly alone (or even the standout IMO - Guthrie, Routledge, Jonas, Campbell) and I really don't think Best/Ranger/Lovenkrands/the injured Vuckic would have made one jot of difference to such an enthused midfield display. Our team is one of the most annoying (though I suppose many fans will be vying for that trophy this year) and the issue of being "wound up" for games seems to stick in the throat - only games we classify as big do we seem geared up for. I don't think Hughton instils them with a different sense of importance depending on the opposition - and has them in a frenzy before kick-off before the Arsenal/Man City/Mackems and then dragging their heels as they walk out to play Fulham/Blackburn etc. so it's a mystery to me.

"This Sunderland maybe epitomise the Premiership this season, they've got good results at.... blah, blah, blah... but of course they lost 5-1 to Newcastle in the Tyne-Tees derby"
-
Krul Simpson Taylor Sol Enrique Barton Tiote Nolan Jonas (x) Carroll x - whoever looks best in training out of Ameobi/Loven/Best/Ranger

Spot on. Fantastic player still, but rather poor today.
