  1. It all sounds good in theory but the reality is that there aren't many seats in the Corner that aren't already allocated to season ticket holders. Would love more singers sitting down where I am but I doubt people who are already there and unwilling to contribute to the atmosphere will fancy moving elsewhere.
  2. We sell away tickets for £36. We have the additional 'scenic view', worth £5 extra a time on its own.
  3. Option 4. Tell Birmingham to stick their £35 tickets. Then we'll take 2,800 at a fair price.

    Toon Ultras

Seconded. But not surprising as I was a whole row closer to them than you.
  5. Well going on that logic, there hasn't been contact with Hughes either and there has been no confirmed contact with Keegan.
  6. Aye, the Mirror are reporting that initial talks have taken place and an interview has been planned. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/01/16/toon-court-deschamps-89520-20287503/
  7. That's what was revealed last night. But I'm refusing to believe that none of these 'favourites' that have cropped up over the past week have spoken to the club. If the club isn't approaching them then either they have a top tier manager lined up or are eyeing up someone shit that's not even on our radar yet.
  8. Those with free tickets should turn up and there'll be the usual gathering of bairns as well. Should see around 25K turn out.
  9. Not even sure there will be another name. We haven't contacted Hughes either. Shearer has been told he's not wanted. Redknapp wasn't interested. Houllier wasn't interested. Mort has basically ruled out any top tier manager with ambition. How many more names can be trotted out, only for them to turn down the job or deny they have been in contact with the club? If the club claim they are talking to candidates and the media haven't dragged up the name of any of those candidates yet then who are they? My feeling is that those that have been in conversation with the club have been told not to reveal to the media that they are doing so. If I'm wrong, then I'd start to get concerned as the next set of options could include the likes of Venables and McClaren.
  10. Like when Keegan came back as manager after being a player? Oh yeah, that was a real failure...... not! It looks like he was referring to those having a second stint as manager and not returning to a club as manager after a spell as a player.
  11. "Alan Shearer says he has not spoken to Kevin Keegan for 'a long time' after the duo were mooted as Newcastle United's managerial 'dream ticket'." - Sky Sports In reverse maybe... I'm sure that'll be ignored as the masses are bound to turn up with their bed sheets and hastily scrawled messages tomorrow evening.
  12. We finally scored a goal at Stamford Bridge...

    Outsiders

Was about to suggest Deschamps myself on the basis of his work at Monaco and Juventus. The downside would be that it appears the constant media speculation about his job security got to him at Juve. Not exactly ticking all the right boxes.

    Hamit Altintop

Both at Schalke last year. One plays up front and the other in midfield. The better brother, Hamit, who plays midfield is now with Bayern Munich and has apparently impressed in the first 4 fixtures this season. There's a little bit more about them here http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=462574&cc=5739 Bayern playing Schalke this weekend.
  15. they will be double sided probably, if not...then they are fucked No scores on the boards for us east stand folks. TVs inside . I'm just thankful they gave us clocks. On a different note. Are we trying to replicate Wigan with the daft half time entertainment? Surely that has to go.
  16. From what I was reading the other day, I was under the impression that Atletico was his most likely destination after talks broke down with Boca over Villareal getting greedy.

    UEFA Cup Draw

I don't think this has anything to do with the next round. I'm sure last year they took all the seeded teams and put them in different pots when drawing the first round. Essentially it means you know that you'll play one out of whatever small number of teams are in the unseeded pot you are paired with. Once this round is over they'll draw the groups up in a similar way to the CL draw.
  18. Oh dear. Surely they aren't going to draw the pot 1 teams into seperate groups and give out an award before drawing each of the other pots?
  19. Cech/Dida/Reina for the goalkeeper award. I assume after identifying Cech as the winner they just picked the keepers from the two finalists to make the numbers up.

Yeah true. I mean, who gives a f*** about racism? I was sat at the Sampdoria game and one fella asked me who the Spade at left back was. Seems everything is rosy on Tyneside to me. Being white it doesn't effect me. That's fine then. Enjoy yourself. That's what it's all about. Exactly. Glad you see the world like I do, bro. I do, there appears to be the simple fact that you appear to be living on a different planet to several billion others, but thats fine. It's your world. HTT is right, it's starting to get boring. There has been plenty of time for everyone to air their views and I believe we have heard almost every conceivable angle already. Further posts on the issue are not adding to the topic at hand or helping to change the opinion of anyone posting replies but instead just adding fuel to arguements for the sake of it. Back to the football...
  21. His scoring record with Breda is a less than impressive 5 in 61. Scored 3 from 28 starts and 6 sub appearances last term. He's now 23 and if those statistics are anything to go by he isn't better than Shola. The dutch attack as a unit do look like one of the sides more likely to score goals though. From what I've seen of the Dutch team at the tournament, Royston Drenthe sticks out as one of their better prospects. Think he might be with Feyenoord. According to UEFA's site he can play at left back as well.
  22. Have UEFA set their dates yet? Will the 15th August be a CL 3rd Round Qualifying week? Last year it wouldn't have been as they had a week between the home and away fixtures. Any ideas?
