This is the thing about Cronaldo going to Chelsea? First Aubameyang and now Ronaldo. They’re all about character at Stamford Bridge.

I think we ought to rest Wilson at some point and no match is better for that than the game tomorrow. That’s our toughest fixture before the WC. We lose him to injury and we’ve got Wood as our only option for the next three ties. Southampton and Aston Villa are very winnable. I’d rather target those six points than the three at Tottenham. If he’s still ambulatory, yeah take a stab at Chelsea.

Well, a win takes us 4th then. (Even if that happens. Very unlikely. All the pundits and all the podcasts will be on non-stop about the “United revival”. Ah well.)

There was a post —much quoted and liked— running through an Everton forum in a prematch thread that drew similar conclusions. Apparently Everton have a much better squad than we do. And it’s not even close. (What on earth were we thinking when we passed on Tarkowski to sign some kid?)
