He played very well too, made a huge difference to having Heitinga there. It is indeeed a shame because considering he's been out since, what, Birmingham, 5 weeks-ish, he played very well, certainly one of our best players. But unfortunately a moment of madness means he's fucked us over. I don't know about Heitinga... sometimes I think he's doing a good job in there (awful tactics from Moyes against Blackpool taking Heitinga, who had Adam quiet all game, off with 25 minutes to go - Adam ran the show from then on), and sometimes I think he looks completely clueless. Heitinga is never a DM like IMO.

He shouldn't be. If he does his job correctly, he'll see a lot of time and space on the ball allowing him to help push the attack. These types of games should be the easiest for him, actually. I don't see him as a player who is going to force the issue going forward personally. More of a player who is better at breaking up play and then giving to the superior forward players hence why he shone v Arsenal.

Don't know why he was attacking far post so much tonight , he was awful every time he got near the ball from set pieces, and not just in this game. It's a shame, he's done so well at the back. Following instructions and plays they've worked on all week probably. No shit. The point was that it isn't working and it shouldn't be him attacking far post if he can't make it work. As I said, it's not just this game he has been poor at that. Worked v Sunlun. He also does the job of letting Carroll by working with him at set pieces and let him get free which appears to be working alreet. His backing off and letting people run at him should be of far greater concern.

He's always going to be poorer in games where we need to dominate and create chances as that is not his game. Hopefully he'll back to his best where we'll need him at the Reebok. Game off might do him some good after a bit of a mare tonight.

possibly but the standard on the bench is pretty poor. An off form Routledge, a untried Ranger, a not up to it Lovenkrands/Guthrie. Then should we be in the transfer market in January then? Definitely we needed more players in the summer. We need a 3rd striker (not a target man) and someone else for the wings if he isn't trusting Routledge. If HBA is out for the season maybe a loan replacement for him. Will probably all depend on who is yet to a sign a new contract and has one that runs out in the summer.

Good point. Desperate lack of spark/creativity out of there. 6 defenders for Blackburn though, they didn't give much space for much creativity.
