More money than sense! On KUMB, it's widely being mentioned that Bent was being offered £80k and they had given him the ultimatum of agreeeing terms in a week or they move on to AJ. If Bent does go to Spurs, the offer is £35k. Egghead has been jacking up the wages ever since he bought the bingo club, Calum Davenport was on £8k with Spurs, he's now on £33k!! As you say, utterly f****** mental. He's the Icelandic Peter Ridsdale, this mong. When they spunk an absolute fortune on players and eventually sack Curbishley for a foreigner on Sven-like wages and still aren't a Champions League club they will clear off leaving the club up shit creek. I can see it ending in tears for the cockney shits. They're obviously loaded at the minute but they're throwing money at the wrong players imo. It'll turn to shit in 2 years. One of the few clubs i wouldn't mind it happening to.

can list a lot worse players than Barton in that to be fair in terms of ability and in terms of being a c*nt Bobby signed Woodgate and Bowyer.

so long as the mackems don't stop buying biscuits otherwise they're going to be fucked.

Poor mans Chelsea of 2 years ago it would seem.

How small is the guy of the lefts feet!!! My old next door neighbour plays for Raith. I shall have to ask him about that kids feet at least he has his dashing good looks to fall back on.

from recent seasons Bellamy's goal versus Feyenoord at the Kuip. From gutted (Dyer's miss) to sheer jubilation when Bellamy/their keeper put the ball in and then finding out Juve had done us a favour in Kiev.
-
Revolting. Barca wannabes tbh.
-
Think he was top scorer after Beardo last year? Well he is the former most expensive defender in the world, i wouldn't expect anything less!
-
All on short term deals though which was key so even if they didn't work out they weren't clogging up the wage bill for years to come when they weren't wanted like we often experience.
-
Aye it is. One thing i always notice from older games is how shit were keepers in the pre-90's, don't look a patch on todays keepers, especially when you consider the ball didn't move and curl as much.

yup, will be a blow for the relevant companies but wouldn't be suprised if they carried on sponsoring teams regardless due to the exposure the firms get on tv especially to the lucrative asian market. Probably find there'll be someway around it though, and i presume this means the Carling Cup will have to be changed as if not it renders the ban absolutely laughable.
-
Yeah, a kid gets a football top with Carling on it, clearly means he'll turn into an alcoholic wreck. I'm sure it did, what a load of shit.

wud be interesting. At least this transfer makes a change of not replacing players that we are selling/have sold like we normally do which i imagine leads us to paying ridiculous fees/wages as clubs and players hold us to ransom.

He's on a free. He's coming off the back of his best season for years having remained mainly injury-free His ability on the ball has never been in question. We desperately need a player who can hold up the ball. Signing Viduka does not mean we won't sign any more players of that type. On the flipside when the going gets tough he tends to get sulking and too often lets a game pass him by. There's no guarantee that he won't pick up niggles next season because he's been plaugued by them for years. There's no resale value as he'd be more or less finished by the end of a 2-year deal. No-one's saying he'll be awesome or a guaranteed hit, but I can't for the life of me see why it's not worth a punt when he's out of contract. To put numbers on it, people are talking of £40k a week, say over two years with some bonuses and a nice signing on fee. £5m or so all in? You could spend that and more on a player who's never even kicked a ball in a top division. Spot on, rather pay that over that time than an unproven performer in the Prem/England as many teams (us especially) have done far too many times.

Anything relevant to say on the matter then? totally irrelevant is it? Not by your usual standards, admittedly. But more or less, yes. Didn't see much about other clubs being after Hargreaves or Anderson, this mean Man U are skewered as well? Barton has been linked quite a bit with West Ham as it happens, though that's not really relevant. comparing the signing of Hargreaves and Barton? excellent I rarely post on here but I read most of the stuff and I can't help but get the feeling that Invicta Toon is a bit of an agumentative idiot with nothing constructive to say so he merely picks holes in other people's posts. Does anyone else get this vibe? Unfortunately yes.
-
Wow! He's played for us already? it's the stuff of nightmares this probably deserves its own thread (or not) but since you disapprove or moan about pretty much everyone we are linked with/trying to get/are getting who would you like to see us sign? Or are you one of these fans who cannot be pleased.
-
Wow! He's played for us already? Captain n all.
-
Thats that place with the cingeworth advert isnt it? Not 100% sure but i certainly remember the one promoting Sunderland a couple of years back, hillarious stuff.
-
i'm neither happy nor angry about these transfers for once, i guess time will tell who has got the better deal I just hope that all those who do not approve of Barton for whatever reason now get behind him when he is playing in the black and white shirt like we should any other player.

I thought Scarborough had gone bust...
