Apologies for the long post, just found this interesting as I'd been wondering about this guy myself. Just did a little searching and found quite a lot of rent a quote mentions of our Frank. I tried to look for a web address for the INUSA but nothing doing or any email address to contact but nothing. They aren't registered on any supporter sites I can see. I looked at other names mentioned in conjunction with the INUSA, but only Kevin Miles and John Regan were mentioned. They seemed quite active in the 90's, as NE5 said regarding the SOS campaign, but seem defunct this decade, bar the constant quotes from Frank . http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/sport/article-23486003-details/Fans'+review+of+the+season:+Did+the+earth+move+for+you/article.do Frank reviews last season. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7122616.stm However, Barton's comments prompted an angry response from Frank Gilmour, chairman of the Independent Newcastle United Supporters' Association. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1032693/Bin-Ladens-family-set-launch-bid-buy-Newcastle-United.html Frank Gilmour, of the Independent Newcastle United Supporters' Association told the Sun newspaper: 'It's disgusting, an absolute joke. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1052643/Toon-army-threaten-boycott-Newcastle-line-Spurs-assistant-Poyet-replace-Keegan.html And Frank Gilmour, chairman of the Independent Newcastle United Supporters’ Association, added: 'I would expect the lowest attendance at St James’ for a long, long time at the next match,' Other mentions of the INUSA http://www.imusa.org/about.php The Independent Manchester united Supporters' Association was launched in April 1995 at an impromptu meeting in the Gorse Hill Hotel.... Thousands of leaflets were distributed at the last two home games of the season advertising IMUSA's existence and the next meeting, at Lancashire Cricket Club on 11th May, took place in the week before the final game of the season at West Ham. The meeting was packed out with hundreds of Reds who listened to Kevin Miles from the Independent Newcastle United Supporters Association describe how they had set up their organisation and the experiences they had had in dealings with NUFC. Dec 15 1998 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/the_company_file/235443.stm Kevin Miles of the Newcastle United Independent Supporters Association, said: "Nobody should be under any illusions that any company comes in to buy a football club as a favour to ordinary fans." There is Kevin Miles, a toon fan, who has been International Co-ordinator for The Football Supporter’s Association since the 1998 world cup (email addy in the whos-who section). http://www.fsf.org.uk/whos-who/fsfcontractors/kev.miles.php due to give a talk in april 2009: http://www.ncl.ac.uk/peals/news/events/item/cafe-politique-the-politics-of-football-will-elitism-ruin-our-game More INUSA In 1998: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/htmlContent.jhtml?html=/archive/1998/03/16/nnu16.html John Regan, secretary of the Independent Newcastle United Supporters Association, said yesterday that he was staggered by the allegations, adding that, if true, "this has to be a resigning matter. They will both have to go and they must go quickly".

I feel numb. This has happened too often in the last decade, a perpetual downward slide, briefly arrested by hope before some inevitable disaster swallows us up again. I'm sorry but, it's becoming hard to get angry, just sickened.

Just saw the coverage on SSN, Who the hell is Tom Harbord - supposed Newcastle Supporters Association Chairman? - never heard of him. He was asked, "so what are the supporters saying up there, what is the general feeling?" His reply? "well I live in Leeds... But I have spoken to several Leeds supporters" wtf?

So Dave, NE5... ...who do you think were signing in the final week? (I apologise for the on-topic question unreservedly)

Same here, with a magpie mover form, etc. Just relieved to be honest, hope everyone who's still waiting gets theirs soon. -

I dont care if I've never heard of the bloke, the scouting set-up are happy to get him, as is Keegan (presumably since he has final say on transfers), so I'll quite happily sit back and wait and see if he turns out to be a good signing for us. No one has said we've acted improperly have they? He wouldnt be a better player if we paid £8m for him, just more costly. If it is a gamble then its not really that much of an expensive one so why not try it?
-
That's what I thought too.
-
Hope this is true, and he HAS ruled us out.

For god's sake, don't let a Mr. H.Norway see this before he takes his meds

Peter Stormare? The fella from Prison Break (s1), doctor in Minority report and the devil in Constantine

Nope, you just pick on dead people RIP Carter

That report implies that he shouldnt go to Newcastle and Everton, but Man City are alright, ok then...
-
I agree with you, it does point to that, and hopefully we get our targeted player to replace him. SWP has been mentioned, and he would be a good upgrade. I like Milner but he doesn't have the pace to stretch teams and lacks consistency in his crossing. Not sure if he'll go to liverpool though, as they seem short of cash and will go for someone cheaper, or possibly keep kuyt there if we dont want pennant.
-
Harry man, calm down. It's going to be alright. We did try and get Modric and bid big money for him so that at least is a sign of intent, showing that there is cash available for the right players. We'll get some new ones in don't worry, just might not be KK's no1 targets.
-
Not really surprised if this is the case, dont Liverpool have a bit of trouble with their finances at the mo? When the initial story came out I thought it would be player trade value of 10m rather than cash they are struggling to get. Cant blame the cheeky buggers for trying tho. But yeah, again another unprofessional dig at the establishment by the 'journo' AO.
-
I'd love him if we could keep him fit. Shit - just got deja vu from the above comment, I'm sure I said the same about Owen! (and possibly again with viduka)

Good for them. Didnt Barcelona do something similar last season? Great deal. Their chairman is doing an excellent job there. Good PR for the club, and more importantly, helps the charity too.
-
Not just the work permit situation, there's also the question of ownership (see Tevez and Mascherano) on a lot of players in south america which might scare clubs off. Agree that there's some top talent out there though.
-
I agree, not that he doesn't deserve the sentence of course. I'd like to think his recent counselling and what not, can change him for the better. /blind optimist

I plead guilty on charges of unrealistic optimism. While I didn't want him, I argued on here Souness needed a bit more time, even if he was shit, I thought Roeder deserved a shot (I know, I know!), after his decent caretaker stint, I thought Big Sam was just the right kind of manager we needed and would turn us into a force given time, I also thought we sacked him far too soon. As for players, I've often defended Shola on here. Thought Bramble, Maric, Kluivert, Duff and Smith would come good. Thought Chopra should hav been given more of a chance. A bit glass-half-full, but with NUFC I can't seem to help it, I want the players to be better than they are and usually fool myself that they are, and that we'll play better than we do, and success is just around the corner. And like a lot of people on here, I always believe we'll do better than we do at the start of every season.
