  1. It was that nacker Lawrenson again. Hope he's picked us to get beat tomorrow, as he is a hopeless pundit and the kiss of death to most teams.
  2. What a load of s****! So Charles wouldn't be the subject to interest from Tottenham if Sam, Roeder, Souness or Robson were in charge? Get a grip ffs. You have misunderstood my post . The point I was trying to make is the lack of signings in this window are down to Keegan not knowing the market. By his own admission he has been reclusive and has neither watched or followed football for 3 years. By the way have you seen what a right load of rubbish his soocer circus is /was.? It was certainly aptly named. Zog has been the subject of interest for a number of teams including Arsenal. So don't put words in my mouth and if you want to criticize that's OK with me but do not assume that everyone's opinion other than yours is s*** He said he hadn't ATTENDED a game in 3 years NOT watched. I'm sure he has a television. And his soccer circus venture is neither here nor there in this matter, I personally think he should be applauded for setting up something to try and bring enjoyment into coaching football skills. And how do you come by the incredibly insightful fact that he 'obviously has no clue' about judging players? As another poster said - get a grip.
  3. I've disagreed with you on quite a lot of things in the past NM, but that is a decent dose of realism you posted there. I think a lot of people do have some unrealistic expectations (myself included on many occasion), and we need to calm down and rebuild starting with a period of stability. The fact is we are not a good team at the moment.
  4. you say that with Babayaro and Carr still on our books? Be fair to Carr hasn't been that bad this year (ok he HAS been complete toss before then tho). and baba was paid off and kicked out, so no longer on our books.
  5. It's an open game, with fast, flowing football and both teams looking to go forward. The team in black and white stripes, who I believe are Newcastle are playing particularly attractive. So far a definite MoTD watch.
  6. Owen's looking sharper and nearly on the end of a few chances now. Arsenal still having chances but looking a bit more disjointed than usual, and we're playing our best football of this season so far. Still, some way to go yet.
  7. Some good football all round, this is a decent match. i've missed this kind of football from us!
  8. Sounds good to me too, Houlier as Dof/adviser with Shearer as manager.
  9. Definitely stick with for this season and next in my opinion.
  10. All the best, and Merry Christmas
  11. Yes, in retrospect I apologise for the glibness of my earlier remark (my norwegian is rubbish! ). Still don't like the idea behind the thread. Hindsight is great but pretty much useless. SGE may have been an option for us when we looked for a new manager, but there was quite a bit of apprehension at getting erikson, due to the media circus surrounding his time managing england and we are pretty much a headline act in the media circus so it would have been a risk. Plus, a lot of newcastle fans didnt want him (sge), there was definitely a split regarding whether he should get the job. At the time of his appointment at city it was mentioned as to how long he'd get before the press got on his back and that he would get a very, very short honeymoon period, luckilly for him, he hit the ground running, but that kind of pressure probably put fred off him. Its still too early to tell and even if we did choose wrongly, it doesnt matter we've got Sam and hopefully he'll turn things around (yep, I was in favour of Sam getting the job).
  12. Maybe he wants him as a midfielder - dont shoot the messenger, just reading the quote from Wenger.
  13. According to the Times, Wenger's interested in Diarra, who has been converted from a midfielder to a right back.
  14. exactly what I thought about it.
  15. Totally agree was surprised at the sheer amount of Chicken Littles running around posting about the the sky falling on here. Not after losing oh no, the bar of excellence has now been raised to panicking after a draw ffs. Considering how bad we have been for the last two years, some people need to get a slap from the hand of perspective and settle down for a bit. They just seem a bit too snug in their blanket of gloom.
  16. I thought Butt did well too, along with Milner and Harper. Shola looked keen and put himself about a bit more than Viduka in his short cameo too, might deserve a start next game.
  17. In response to Northern boys love gravy!: I agree, we fought well for the point. The final pass was missing today, and bar a couple of chances, we didnt create enough, I'm sure Sam and the players know this but it wasn't from lack of effort from what I saw. Some days you can't rip teams apart, and goals wont come, so you have to battle, and today we did. Hell, even Man Utd dont score every game and they've got the likes of Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo, etc, etc. Just a fact that sometimes we wont score, and those games are the ones we need to make sure we dont concede in.
  18. RE: Rodhmainho's post. Isn't it always the case though? when a new manager comes into a club they build from the back, and seek to sort the defence out to stop losing games. To be fair to Sam, he's looking like succceding in that department, as we do look organised, and a lot more structured and solid in defence now. I'm sure we'll progress and improve, if some of the more variable support at the match dont get on his back and heap the pressure on the team. At times last year we looked scared stiff at home with the crowd turning on the players. Lets hope it doesnt happen this year.
  19. ditto, I missed out on the free drink voucher, but my mate got one and he was just in front of me.
  20. Didnt hear any in the gallowgate as I left. Muted applause, but no booing. If there were boos those fickle pantomime-attending f***s should be ashamed.
