I've always been a fan of Hayden, and will always appreciate the effort (and blood, at times) he left on the pitch for us. He was brilliant under Rafa, and I recall his interview when he first joined, about how Rafa took him out for a pint and rearranged glasses on the table to discuss tactics. He's always spoken well about us as well, and chose to stay with us after all the medical issues with his kid, who lives down south (still, I believe?). It's definitely time for both parties to move on, but he should be shown the respect he deserves when he leaves. He was a good player for us for at least 2-ish years, more I'd say. Injuries, and Bruce, took their toll. I wish him all the best.

Breadmaking competition? A stall at the farmer's market? I miss the halcyon days of analyzing his tweets, charcuterie boards and black & white photography.

I think the idea was to get an AM in to help us stay up. We're still lacking that, as many others have pointed out. I'm not even thinking about summer signings, staying up has to be the sole priority.

Brilliant interview. Good to see a player speak of the club as a genuine fan, talking about Andy Griffin’s winner against Juve and the 5-1 derby. I’m excited about this guy now.

Same. He deserves a chance after that great game vs. Leeds. But as long as he's happy being a good squad member, more competition is usually good.

Only reason I care about this transfer is because it'll (potentially) strengthen Everton for our next game. I wanted us to give it a right go, as their morale seems to be in the doldrums.

Concerned also with Burnley's new striker linking up well with Cornet. We needed to add some pace next to Wood, and Ekitike (sp?) would've been great. Anyways, I'm not hugely disappointed with the window overall, but the lack of goals is a worry. Having said that, if Howe can get others to start chipping in with goals from midfield and set pieces, while Wood keeps an opposing CB or two occupied, we may just have had a fantastic window.

Just to confirm, this would be a club record signing, correct? Or is that dubious Joe deal still the highest we’ve ever “paid” for a player?

So what do you make of his form for West Ham last year?

All of this still feels surreal. I have my Arsenal and Liverpool supporting mates giving me shit in a WhatsApp group chat and I don’t even know what to say to them. All of it feels like a dream still. How do we react to this new reality? To this unexpected turn, and a seemingly total turn, in fortune? I don’t even feel anything when other fans bring up Saudi, I am still in just a numb form of shock. I truly never expected the Ashley era to end. That is some serious Stockholm syndrome.

Oh my word. Absolutely magic, thanks for posting this. I have a feeling I’ll be watching his compilation videos long into my old age, just brings so much happiness and joy watching him play football. Nobody like him on the planet.
