I didn't realize, I don't think most NUFC fans do, the important part we played in one of the events that have seemingly become intertwined with Serbian footballing identity. Makes sense the experience I had, then, seeing how important that win was for your fans & club.

Perfectly summed up. Who and what is this Twitter account... it's amazing. Following.

Awww. It's heartbreaking telling younger fans who didn't see all these highs and lows about what transpired, both because you wish for them to have experienced it, and mainly because you realize how quickly time has passed and how much older we've become since.

An anecdote, or... an evening spent unexpectedly with Partizan Belgrade fans in Brampton, Ontario. Gorgeous weather has befallen us Canadians (well, Ontarians) this week, so I took up the opportunity to meet a friend for drinks on a patio yesterday evening. As soon as we arrived at the bar, my friend ran into a group of his high school mates, so naturally it led to joining their group to enjoy the evening air with some boozy refreshments. The table was filled with 4 dudes with light Serbo-Canadian accents, and my friend and I. As talk turned to TFC and football, they began discussing going over to Belgrade for a Partizan game. I smiled a little (images of the 0-0 and Aaron Hughes' penalty miss were already flooding mind), so I smiled and offered up, "I'm a Newcastle fan." Immediately I'd realized I'd made a huge mistake. One of them raised his beer-spilling mug, "WE BEAT YOU ON PK'S BUDDY! HAHA!" Well, so much for me hoping they don't bring that up. I mean, it WAS almost a fucking decade ago. But here we were. Then it descended into what I can only imagine what a Trump rally would sound like. "Alan Shearer was crying! Hahaha. And your keeper, what's his name, SHAY GIVEN! HAHAHA." Apparently remembering Shay Given brought them all to hysterics. It was like hearing someone relive a World Cup glory they themselves had participated in. This being football chatter where time and space are forever in flux, with events that occurred decades ago still being spoken about as if they're unfolding before our eyes, I raised my mug in return, hoping to come in peace, "your boys played well, deserved to go through." So then I hoped to move the conversation away from this mocking, by bringing up Mitrovic. "What're your thoughts on him? Would love to know." This brought about a barrage of bile with statements such as: "You guys don't give him enough minutes," "you wouldn't have been relegated if you'd started him every game, he was your best player!" And "he was your best player last year, he was responsible for bringing you back up, and you don't even start him," and "he needs to leave for a big club." Then, of course, things turned full retard, with nonsensical attacks on Rafa. "Who the fuck is Rafa Benitez anyway? Every club he's touched since Liverpool has turned to shit. Haha. It shows he's clueless, it's why he's managing a club that was not even in the Premiership!" It took Gandhian levels of sighing, patience and internal calmness to not lose my shit at these guys. I explained to them the need for Rafa to be closer to his family, what kind of man he is, how he's taken to the city and fans, etc. I mean, after the initial bit of retardation, the rest of the evening went pretty amicable. Typical chapter in the life of an outnumbered, forrin Newcastle fan. Thought I'd share Edit: It'd be remiss of me to not say that at least one of the 4 PB fans agreed with my rebuttals of Mitro lacking pace and finishing instincts for the PL. So it wasn't all bad.

So many Dummett mentions, is the Ronaldo batsignal broken?

Majestic yesterday. We forget he's still very young, and will be prone to a shit game here and there. But there's definitely bags of potential and skill in there. Just needs to be coached by someone of Rafa's caliber, and not WUMs like the wankers we've had in the past.
-
I'm actually hoping he starts messing up so the EPL gravy train clubs don't start tempting Ashley with offers he won't refuse. But to be honest, without exaggeration, he's probably the best player in the world right now.

Manquillo has been our weakest link going forward. Joselu, Merino & Ritchie have been decent.

So excited about this as a middle-aged, pot-bellied Indian dude who grew up with MRF branding all over the place, lol. Finally attached to one of my other favourite things!
-
Well now that you put it that way... phew.

Man, Mitrology, like Scientology, is fast becoming a religion. Soon we'll start hearing about him only needing a run of games until he becomes the second coming of Xenu to lift NUFC's overall thetan level to Tom Cruise.

To be fair to mitro, he's shown similar, in bursts, during his time here. He hasn't hit any real consistency, but he's had a lot of pressure on young shoulders. His finish against WHam, was great. Even better since just before he was an almost identical situation, and lost out to Hart. He showed the composure, and dare I say intelligence, to do something different. That goal could have been the moment his career took off. Enter Phil f***ing Neville. PHIL f***ing NEVILLE?? A man so devoid of any personality, he makes Alan Shearer seem like a shining wit. Aye well Phil Neville is nothing more than a spoonerism of Alan Shearer. I reckon if Rafa has given him 4 months to save his NUFC career, he'll have to give him the opportunity to do so. I'm not too confident he will though. Get the fuck outta here.

No. Mitro is putting too much pressure on himself to deliver. And Mitro's is f*** all like Arnautovich's, like. Arno goes in with the point of his elbow, Mitro pretty much slaps him with his bingowing. Anybody who thinks differently should be permanently banned from Jury Duty, because that s*** matters. Get the fuck outta here.

Ugh. Wow. I have no words.
-
Like a new signing.
-
I just got this. Very good.

Very nice summary Baba. Yup. The issue is momentum & goodwill. Two things Ashley has never given a flying fuck about, and constantly shot down.
-
Talk about people lacking spines, how can this cunt honestly get up everyday and look at himself in the mirror working for someone like Ashley? He's basically our own Sean Spicer.
-
"We fot Raffuh woz doin' a decent job but you can't disrespect Mike, it's not on. It's not how we do fingz in dis country."
-
Same here, especially directing his invective to Ashley and Simon Jordan.
-
I'll take up alms. Alms. We shall protest in peace.

Truly heartbreaking.
