Gouffrinho.

Wasn't it Carver who tried to use him as a targetman?
-
I still maintain he's the best CB on our books the same way others maintain we're gonna be champions or that Mitrovic will come good.
-
You clearly need to spit at him from the back.

His chances he missed last season f***ed us, he's also already missed 2 excellent chances in 2 games this season. He deserves the criticism. His goals at the back end of the season almost saved us as well. He's missed 2 decent chances which are by no means nailed on for any striker to score, but because he could have done better he's judged on 2 'excellent chances' he's missed, rather than the positives he brings to the team and the fact that he's scored and has a fantastic goals-minutes ratio off his last 10 competitive games. It's quite easy to suss out the people who have an agenda against him. Yes. We have an 'agenda' because we've pointed out how this guy consistently misses the chances presented to him. His misses last season were one of the (small) reasons we went down, had we instead bought a proven Premiership striker and paid the going rate for one. We were desperate for someone to hit the ground running, instead we put our money and time into a kid from a foreign league and put the world on his shoulders. In fact, every person who's criticized Mitro on here has said the same thing: right player, wrong time, wrong move for him. But sure, delude yourself into simplifying the world around you. Whoever doesn't agree with you has an 'agenda,' marra. Er, no they haven't. All I've seen is "he's s***"/"not good enough"/"misstrovic". Misstrovic is pretty good though

Put down the pitchfork, Benwell Lad. SM isn't bad.

Why are you aiming that comment at me? I'm not guilty of any of the things you've commented on. I wasn't part of the witch hunt I simply said he was unsuitable for the position he'd been given. I'm certainly not celebrating, in fact I'm glad they've given him another job on the paper. You (Sunderland people) are celebrating like you've won something tonight You (Sunderland people) are far more upset by a Mag journalist working for your local rag than you were about your club playing a paedophile. You come on here regularly claiming not to be like most of your fellow supporters and hide your RTG identity. You probably have very different opinions when you're on home turf. Not gonna be having this sort of McCarthyism on here Relax, dude.

Not too sure if changing your defensive line this often is a good thing. I thought a solid defensive unit was built on consistency and a familiarity of each other's roles?

I doubt anyone could cope with Hulls success. Poor Hat-am had ne chance. Fuck off.

This is what I'm worried about at the back of my mind as well. But then rationality takes over and tells me he'll figure that out eventually. I hope.

Was a big day for the groaning freaks yesterday. Even before they scored. People are mongs. Like honestly, they were whinging at every little thing. I know we should be beating virtually everyone at home but it isn't always gonna happen so easy. Games like yesterday we should be getting behind them not groaning every pass and booing them off at half time / full time. They're cunts. They need to fuck off to the cinema if they're just there to be "entertained". :anguish: Thank fuck the next home game isn't a league one and hopefully one that we'll win. The place is never going to become a fortress if the players are nervous to step out there. The time for that sort of crowd reaction has passed. Honestly mate it's ridiculous. Like what planet do these people live on? There was one moment where Lascelles passed back to Selz and then Selz returned the ball to Lascelles who was in a dangerous position and the crowd blasted them with abuse and groans and actually they played the ball out in a composed manner and created an attack. Fair dues when Perez lost the ball for the goal but not that. When Paul Dummett put a 10 yard pass out too - there was a bloke directly in the way of Atsu (?) and he was the only option apart from going all the way back (again) and whole crowd went apeshit with him for what actually was a pretty difficult pass in the end. Alright he maybe shouldn't have played it but fuck me cut the lad some slack. Cannot understand for the life of me how blasting someone with abuse who is already giving their best is in any shape or form constructive. That used to depress the fuck out of me when SBR was here, the players would be trying to move the ball around the pitch, then the fans would start shouting and bawling en masse to get it up the pitch. You could literally see some players shrinking into their shelves and getting double minded about their game. http://cdn.furniturefashion.com/image/Ikea%20Wall%20Shelving.jpg

Is that after today's match? Unbelievable stuff to come out with in the press if that's even true. Wtf.
-
Gayle's contribution in his first two games by the way was a simple miss early v Huddersfield then a header from a crap pen. Gayle has been fairly poor other than his good finish at Bristol City. Contributed nothing in a lot of games yet Mitro misses one chance and he's awful Oh I'm sorry, I am to pretend last season never occurred. Got it. I'm affording Gayle the same amount of leeway we all did to Mitro, as a new signing. Difference is Mitro's been missing these chances for over a year.
-
Both should be starting especially at home - with Gayle on his own we have nobody to hold the ball up. Yep, I'm good with playing two up top, especially a physical forward like Mitro or the other guy we signed whose name I can never remember.
-
Greatest hits have already been posted after today: Too Young, Not Enough Chances, etc Gayle seems to do fine with 1 or 2 chances only. As do all the other strikers in the world who don't play for Barcelona or Real Madrid.
-
Some of the suggestions on here: play Gayle out wide, start Mitro over Gayle, etc. Here's why I'm glad we have Rafa and not one of you guys in charge.

A striker who can't do one on ones Well let's be honest, we've seen him for over a season now and he's yet to show any evidence that he can. I haven't seen much of Armstrong but I'll bet he can. Oh absolutely, I was agreeing with you. I was just laughing at our luck, spending so much on a striker who can't finish 1x1s. Sigh.

A striker who can't do one on ones

I don't know how you can be this sure. Right now I don't know what to think. Our players seem to be afraid of the goldfish bowl and the crowd at home.

Remember those days of Pardew, McClaren & Carver where we all dreaded the half-time teamtalk and what horrors the second half may bring? This is literally a revolution.

Diane a new signing? Is she fit?
