Easy. Employ a keeper who can catch. Surprisingly few in the prem at the moment.

Garry Megson. He's been employing negative, one-dimensional, route one tactics all season so he should fit in quite nicely at your place. I was kind of under the impression that Bolton have always done that. Kind of their M.O. You've obviously only been following football since SKY got involved. I was 6 when the premierleague was formed, I've never once see Bolton employ any other tactics. It must have been a gruelling few years as a fan.

SSN: Owen on the bench.

Come on, surely even you would enjoy seeing Spurs go bottom again!

I honestly don't have a clue what could happen tonight. I know that Villa are a better team than us, and could hammer us, but we could take the game to them and bully them off the park. There are a huge number of permutations. I'll go for a wildly optimistic 3-1 win where we get battered a la 2 seasons ago.

This is our 5th in a row that's been on TV.

And while people say we didn't replace him, I think the man who'll be in his position for us today (Gutierrez), is a much much better player. Agree with both of the above. Just because he tried hard when he was on the pitch doesn't mean he gets away without being booed.

Word. He's fucking dreadful.

Not sure if their was a disclaimer in the opening post but the poll doesn't actually effect what happens to us in the table. It wasn't a real offer. I just don't know what to believe anymore. Next you'll be saying there's no Father Christmas.

I admire your optimism.

I think Ramos went really in the end because he had very little grasp of English. If you compare him with Capello (who apparently receives four hours of English lessons a day) he's been in the job more or less 10/11 months and is able to give comprehensive press conferences, as opposed to Ramos who was at Spurs one day less then a year and he struggled. This illustrates to me that he was either pants at learning languages or just didn't make the effort. Surely somebody who was working day in day out with players like Ramos was would have stepped up his attempts to speak the linguo, compared to Capello who only see's the England players four or five times a year yet he still made the effort. He could speak English had Poyet as an assitant and a small contingent of Spanish speakers language was not the problem. A journalist? Really? A cunt ? Really? mackems.gif

I thought you started supporting us when Luque joined?

There are a few good players who could be available and seem to meet the Ashley remit - I think Gelson Fernandes and Nedum Onuha from City would be cracking buys for us.

Beating the best team in the land 5-0 to go top of the league, or beating a team 2nd bottom in the table in a scrappy 2-1...not quite the same is it? For me it is to be honest. Its 1 game out of 38 and while its great to celebrate amongst ourselves for the next 24/48 hours, I dont think the club should have acted like gloating school children. I am sure Man Utd sold more mugs with "Champions" on than we did of the "5-0" ones at the end of that season. They saw an opportunity to make some extra cash on the back of a decent result and I can understand that. I wouldn't buy it but 5-0 in a game of that magnitude was immense and very impressive. On the other hand, a boring 2-1 win against your rivals, and a drawn (!) game, are just bordering on the pathetic. No doubt people will still buy the merch so I guess fair play to the clubs for putting it out, but it's still really sad and worth pointing out. Our 5-0 was over a decade ago and I can recall only one or two similar items since then (the Barca 3-2 game, the Spurs 7-1 and maybe there was another). Nothing in recent years. DVD-wise, don't forget that back in 1996/97 getting a hold of such video wasn't anywhere near as easy as it is today thanks to the internet. They could have video of those games for free within a few minutes if they knew where to look, or they could pay a tenner for the privilege. Don't know if there's been anything since but we brought out a video of our 4-3 win at home to Man Utd under Sir Bobby in the 01/02 season.

I think as time wears on a number of people are starting to think that it's gone too far now.
-
Fair play to Spurs, they've kept trying to the end, but they should have been at least 4 goals down against Arsenal and Liverpool. They've been bloody lucky to still be in games. They weren't even close to in the game yesterday before Carra's og.

Good old captain Ronaldo. I knew it was a good idea to use my wildcard to get him in.
-
Agreed, if Ashley is to stay Wise must go. Really can't see Wise's tenure at the club lasting too much longer regardless.
-
It's good to know that a 'January hitlist' is even being considered, I guess.
-
If he stays the only way I can see him winning people round is by getting rid of Wise and Llambias, appointing Shearer (ideally with an experienced coach a la Venables alongside him to help him out) and giving him full control of transfers.
-
Pretty much agreed, although I'd far rather we kept Harper than let him go. Nailed on that Butt will get offered a new deal, sadly.

That's alright, mate
